@DoctorHeadly It is obvious this event is not about student free speech or intimate prayer. It is about claiming a public school for a majority religion - like dogs marking their territory. It shows complete disrespect for non-Christians and for that it should be criticized and even ridiculed.
@TouchOfGreatness I have a hard time seeing how one faith system praying for their teachers, fellow students and educational system (safety, respect, caring for others, etc.) is claiming the school for one major religion, and I fail to see how that makes it disrespectful to other faith systems. They can assemnble anytime they want to. If it was one faith that set aside that day and no other faith was given the opportunity, I might agree with you.
@DoctorHeadly The official SYATP video stated the day was not to pray for students, but to "Pray your classmates come to Christ", and described the school as a "mission field". I would call that simple proselytizing, and given the conspicuous place and time, I would say yes, principally for show.
@TouchOfGreatness I am glad to see that you have done your homework. Not many opponents of Christianity I have met have been willing to do any real investigating on their own.
Is the event showy? Yes, it is on a lot of campuses. Though I have been to schools that have featured a very small amount of bodies present. Do I agree 100% with the way that it is put on and advertised? No, I do not.
But regardless, most student ministry programs that are worth their salt teach teens to view their schools as mission fields, and to pray for their classmates to come to Christ. And if you perceive that to be claiming a school for a majority religion, then I guess it is. But it is something that our teens are supposed to be doing every day of the year, not just one day in September.
i wish i was there that day. this looks absolutely awesome. i see some familair people in here: jordan, tom, tyler, jesse, blair, karin, rachel, megan, crawford, etc. everybody in here is awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D

it was student LED and ORGANIZED. Adults (youth pastors, parents, etc.) were there to participate and support.
