  • Hi all,

I've bought a Corsair Hydro 80 The Total area which occurs in conjunction with the CPU is already equipped with a thermal compound.

    questions:

    1) Is this what is already on it sufficient / quality?

    2) Is it advisable to combine another?

3)Should the one that is already on it be removed and replaced with another? (for example Arctic Silver 5)?

    Thanks alot

  • @lombardo2012 The thermal compound that comes pre-applied is some high quality Shin Etsu paste, and should not be replaced. Comparing it to AS5, the temps might be worse. You should NEVER combine thermal paste's together, they are built up in different ways and doesn't work very well together.

  • don't you need to apply thermal paste for this?

    thank you for the help

  • @apruler2012 Already on the unit.

  • @apruler2012 not at all, the H60, H80 and H100 already have a thermal layer on them and therfor does not need thermal paste!

  • @apruler2012 come pre applied to the pump

  • @apruler2012 I'm thinking about one of these coolers, did you get one? I'm just wondering if it already had thermal paste or it doesn't need any? Also how much power it uses, would 750 watts be enough or what, thanks

  • @VLOGSPHERE

yes it has thermal paste :)

well i'm think of building my pc in a month or so...and i want to use this cooler for sure cause i want to overclock...i should be posting a video of me building my pc and overclocking and all that fun stuff in a month or 2. ^_^ if you want to follow ;)... i can tell you what parts i'm getting if you wish.

750 watts..it depends on your other parts. the cooler should use around 25 w? idk...but i'm pretty sure anything above 700 watts is good enough

  • Plenny and twenny.

  • how do I have to to install the fans?? exhuasting hot air to the outsite or "sucking" cold air to the inside???? I have the CM Storm Scout

  • This guy put the backplate in the wrong position. There are 2 little indentations on the backplate supplied with the unit that matchup with the 2 rivets on the CPU metal backplate and allow it to set flush on the back of the motherboard

  • @kenestra1 funny cos this guys from corsair

  • Now how can i put water on that thing ? lol

  • @BananaGamer101 it comes pre filled wit water

  • Should I remove the thermal compound from the CPU since the pump has one on it?

  • Comment removed

  • @Jmlisheid Yes, too much thermal compound will increase your temperatures.

  • @Jmlisheid when you are installing a new cooler, you always have to clean the old thermal paste... always

  • Do i have to top the cooler with water, or do i just let it do its own thing?

  • What's the best way to install the H100 in push pull config, Exhaust or Intake?

Gaming rig, SLI GTX 560, I7 2600k, 16gb hyperx, hit me up with some ideas.

  • @killyamomz Hey like it says in the video, the h100 requires two 120mm fan mounts. The easiest way to do this is typically to put it in the top of your case and exhaust out as to rad should be creating warmer air. A good example is to go look at a Corsair 500r case, and look at the mounting points in the top. There are many videos of it on yt. This configuration would allow you to exhaust heat out to top of your case, and pull in fresh air from the front and bottom.

  • sorry to bother you but does the mounting bracket have to go on the back of the mobo

im thinking about buying one but i dont want to have to take my mobo out of the case to put

    a bracket on the back

  • @jamstan1 some cases has a hole on the backplate so you dont need to, depends what case u have, so be sure to check that before taking all the parts off, it might be that you dont need to, i took it out for nothing and then noticed, hey i could have done this much easier hehehhe =)

  • Just ordered the h80 to cool my 2600k cpu. This video will help me install the product correctly.

  • @TheVintageGamer ya i ordered h80 for my 2500k, should me more than enough

  • @LuutiRake why not go for the H100? the H80 has way less surface area.

  • @Ratjack ya but too late now, and when i said i ordered, i should said i already have one lol, me and my english...... i already bought h80 from my local store earlier

  • @Ratjack i know its a fail, i was just guess so excited to get the new machine, plus it was also a price thing, cus i had just enough money for these parts and not a dime more.... but all i can do now is go with that h80.....

  • @Ratjack also this is my first liquid cooling ever, so im just starting to experience these stuff, have always gone with air to this point, but zalman just cant handle any more, its on its limits so logic next step is liquid cooling

  • No thermal paste?

  • @TheVintageGamer It comes pre-applied

  • @Nscizor Oh i see, thank you.

  • i am thinking of on of these i have hyper 212 plus its great but damn this thing is an addition now lol

  • I wanna play that music at parties!!! wooohohohohohoh *dances*

  • I want to know if you have to a liquid cooling or it is already integrated in this system?, thanks

  • @Moution23 It's 100% "plug and play" and maintance free (except for taking dust off the radiator after some months of use :P). The system is sealed, so you wont ahve to change the liquid inside it.

  • corsair you think wrong! you push air out throught the back and throught the top. you don't push in air from the top because hot air rises and thanks to that you don't get the right airflow.

  • Do you also Need to Buy a Pump?

  • @fshlps Yes the water cant travel it self

  • @thebgh852 But on other videos it seems That it does not use a Pump

  • @fshlps Pump is integrated.

  • will the H80 fit in an HAF 912?

  • @reoman8095 yes

  • @reoman8095 JFGI...

  • skip to 5:03 for the drop

  • thats funny it skips the assembly with the screws on the cpu cooler 3:07

    wounder why ......

  • Such a great case, too bad it will set someone back $200 the 800D over $300 in Australia.

  • easy as 1,2,3 with a $300 computer case, yikes!

  • @Cpillin425 the 650d is nowhere near that price... and its easy anyway.

  • Last

  • @TheAustin3184 no... I am last... gimme a cookie

  • Guys I'm building my pc. I need to choose between the Cooler Master V10 or the Corsair H100. Which one should I choose?

  • @Hedll The V10 will give you better numbers for cooling vs the H100, but mind you, make sure that you have adequate support. My best friend has slightly warped his ASUS Gen 3 ROG board from the weight of the Heat Sink and the GPU

  • also, is it a molex connecter than connects it to the power supply? thanks

  • @MrKyle080906 its your choice as long as its getting a 12v rail connection

  • @jeefinator ok thanks

  • so it comes full with water already and you dont have to refill it or anything?

  • @MrKyle080906 it comes with full water and no refills required

  • does it come with goop for the cpu->cooler

  • @falconmick The thermal paste comes pre-applied to the cpu mounting block.

  • To bad I'm not comfortable with a screw driver.

  • can anyone answer my question???

instead of plugging fans into the pump, and 4pin for pump into 4pin power, can i strip the connectors and run all wiring to my terminal block?? easier and nicer i think.

    thanks

  • I heared a rumor that Corsair will be releasing a triple rad liquid cooling set up...code named H100SX. Is this true?

  • Cooler Master needs to watch this and learn.

  • just a heads up. I just built a system using the Corsair Graphite 600T case and the H100 water cooler. I assumed they would work perfectly but it tuns out they are a bad fit. Took a lots of tweaking to get it working. I had to order two 120mm "slim" fans to get it right.

  • he didnt mentioned the temps?!!

  • hey can i use this with a and amd3+ motherboard with this?

  • @doubleflipking Yes am2/am3 is the same as am2+ and am3+

  • @doubleflipking Yep.

  • Hello! Nice vid.Just a quick question about airflow. I've recently purchased a Carbide 500R case and the H100. So for maximum airflow i should set the tha radiator on top and fans below the radiator to intake air ? Because it seems to me that with the 200mm side fan and the 2x120mm front fans + the botom 120mm fan the case will fill with air and the rear 120mm fan wont be able to exhaust all that air alone.

  • @panosbob You just answered your own question, set the fans to take out the air instead of bringing it in. It doesn't make much difference any way you do it.

  • @panosbob You ideally want the coolest air to be brought over the radiators. This however may not be feasible if you have a setup like yours and you mentioned that you would only have 1 exhaust fan. Though it is better to have more intake fans than exhaust so you don't create a vacuum. If you reversed the airflow on the radiator fans it sounds like you'd have more exhaust CFM than you would intake and that is a worse situation.

  • is the thermal paste pre-applied? didnt see him apply any

  • @alankace it is pre applied

  • nice

  • Why is my H80's fans going up and down in speed?

  • @LegionGame whenever u use more of ur CPU the fan has too work harder to cool it etc etc

  • Can I use the H100 on a LGA2011 socket?

  • @TheGameTeddy yes

  • @TheGameTeddy yes

  • @TheGameTeddy yes

  • @TheGameTeddy i dont think u use the backplate tho, i would look it up

  • Are those guys retarded on airflow

  • Surely hot air rises so you should mount exhaust fans on top?

  • Do you need thermal paste?

  • @tfbekk Nope , pre applied :)

  • @tfbekk the h100 has some on it already, not sure about the h80.. but its always good to have some thermal paste just in-case

  • That's it I've made up my mind I'm going water cooling.

  • @Aolen75 Yes, this is a great introduction to water cooling, but dont think its a full on custom water cooling loop.

  • @Willasap43 so a custom water cooling job is better then?I will have to research into them and see how much they cost.I have recently got a new mobo and the fx8120 cpu and it runs quite hot so thats what prompted me to go water cooling.thanks for your advice.

  • @Aolen75 If you are not overclocking a high quality air cooler will do fine, if your are overclocking a little bit maybe an exotic air cooler like a noctua cpu cooler, if you want to jump into water cooling to see how it all works, a closed loop setup like this will be good. but if you are an extreme overclocker who knows there way round water cooling something like a raystorm kit would be good

  • is the H80 compatible with COOLER MASTER HAF 932 Advanced Blue Edition RC-932-KKN3-GP Black Steel ATX Full Tower Computer Case since the rear fan is 140mm?

  • My H50 works now 1 year i only was going to full watercooling because of the fact that my gpu runs 20°C lower now!

  • Thank you for the reply! System built and running smoooooth! Love the cooler!

  • I own the H80 and hate it.

  • @freecomptechreview Why is that?

  • @freecomptechreview Ok well since you didn't reply I think that you are just flaming for the sake of it.

  • @couer1911 No I purchased The H80 a few weeks ago, last week it started revving up and down randomly and my CPU stays around 80' wile it is on max RPM. I looked on multiple forums and see I am not the first to experience this bullshit. AKA never buy crap from this company.

  • @freecomptechreview try mounting it properly next time maybe its not level on

    your cpu.

  • Hi guys

Im new to the water cooler thing

so when i install the h80, where do i install the liquid or is there the liquid inside already ?

    thanks guys !!

  • @paan468 Liquid is already in there

  • @couer1911 Thanks man lol im a noob at water cooler :)

  • @paan468 You have to install the water into a super soaker and then shoot it into the radiator while it's installed into the computer. Make sure your computer is powered on!!! It tends to work better if you are laughing hysterically while blasting water onto all of the electronic components.

  • this reminds me of tim and eric

  • ppshhhhh high performance system maby like 2 years ago

  • @kc88kc ähmm..no a gtx 570 is a really good graphics card...and the lga1155 socket is nice too...but not to compare with my hd6970 crossfireX :D

  • @TheTheMScope first off never said the gpu wasnt but now i will the hole system is shit its old stuff garbage that is a shit build understand what im saying????

  • could the H80 be installed in a packardbell i-media A5518 uk case as i can not yet get a better case also will I need a new power supply if i add this and 8GB of RAM to 4GB of RAM

  • @Damage9i05 PackarWhat??! This is a PC video you know

  • Comment removed

  • @BehelitOutlaw Packard Bell

  • H100 is upside down on the RoG board?

  • i hate how friendly company peoples are its just not natural and scripted:)

  • You state AND show that the three pin needs to be plugged in (on the cpu_fan plug) but from other forums they state that I only need to plug in the 4 pin Molex...which is the correct way to plug in the connectors? Do I really need to use both connectors or only the 4 pin molex?

  • @YoboDiver 3 Pin is RPM control.

  • Do i have to apply thermal paste to the H80?

  • @LegionGame It already has it pre-installed.

  • @TommyGrule Thanks :)

  • the goddamned manual for the H100 is HORRIBLE!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • *blink* *blink*.. *blink* *blink* *blink* etc

  • I own the Corsair Obsidian 650d and want to purchase an h80. Something i found weird about this video is that the 650d comes preinstalled with i believe three fans which draw air in from the front of the case and pull it out the back. Here you have it so the fan on the radiator draws air in through the back. Will i need to reverse all the fans in the case or his having fans pulling air in from either side fine?

  • So, it comes prefilled so you don't need to do it yourself?

  • @SyncSave you dont need to fill it youreself

  • @SyncSave yes

  • will h100 fit in haf x easy?

  • @SwiftXZ Yes

  • Just got the H100 best liquid cooler i have ever installed thank you corsair

  • Do you need to apply thermal paste to the cpu / cooler block?

  • @B3YONDV1RTU4L no. its preinstalled on the cooler

  • @wwyk1993 Ty

  • Do I need to clean the Thermal Paste off the cpu that was left from my stock fan???

  • @Bozzak Ideally yes.

  • no thermal greece between block and cpu ?

  • @Ginolaamg32 yeah on the H80 and H100 they actually put Facotry Applied thermal paste so any more is really excess, if you still want to you can though

  • @Ginolaamg32 The Corsair Hydro coolers some with thermal grease pre-applied.

  • @Ginolaamg32 If there was enough space between the block and the CPU, for an entire country, i would be amazed

  • @MastermindChawc1337 That made no sense... Thermal greese needs to be applied regardless of the space in between. Besides that, the block has thermal greese pre applied.

  • @jpmac098 If there was 0 space inbetween thermal paste would be useless. However, that's impossible.

  • @jh3496 It wouldn't be useless... Metal on metal isn't the best heat transference, hence the point of thermal grease.

  • @jh3496 Actually, now that I think about it, you're right lol.

  • @jpmac098 Yea, we can all dream about 100% heat transference ;). The h100 is a beast and the easiest cpu cooler I've ever installed, mounted on LGA 2011 I didn't need the backplate, even though it's still recommended, but I'm getting AMAZING temps OC'd @ 4.55 gigahertz :).

  • @jpmac098 he said "greece" it was a joke

  • @MastermindChawc1337 Please tell me you're joking... Thermal greese is another name for thermal paste... *Facepalm*

  • @jpmac098 there is a difference between greese and greece.

  • @MastermindChawc1337 Yes I know there is also a difference between a typo and a joke. If you pay attention to our conversation, it was a serious one.

  • @jpmac098 i made a joke about a typo

  • @Ginolaamg32 The block is pre applied with thermal greese. Anyone who has ever put a new cooler on a cpu should know this.

  • @jpmac098 no real need for your comment jpmac098 as others had done this before you, "anyone who had installed a WATER block before would know they DONT normaly come pre-applied with thermal greese but.. thanks anyway for your useless comments :)

  • @Ginolaamg32 Ok but regardless... They come pre applied. My H50 did. My stock cooler before that did. I'm sure this one did as well.

  • just got the h100 and the fan control isn't working, stays at the same speed

  • the H80 and H100 is completely silent at the lowest setting!

  • can that liquid in there freeze? i really need to know

  • HELP do i need thermal compound if i used this water cooling system?

  • @austinryder90 Of course you do. But it should come with pre-applied thermal compound. If you don't want to used the pre-applied one just clean the block and apply a thermal compound of your choice. Arctic silver 5 works very well.

  • @austinryder90 no u dont :)

  • @austinryder90 no, its pre-applied thermal paste :)

  • I have the H80 and it doesn't work? I done very thing the same as you??

  • would the H100 cooler, upgraded to 4 fans , fit in a Thermaltake Lvl10 GT case or will it hit my motherboard/rams? motherboard is an MSI X79A-GD65 8D.

  • Can you take the H100 apart to mount it on top of the case and not inside?

  • Corsair; this video is very helpful. Anyone able to give some feedback on the mounting of the H100 in the 650D Case? Apart from that thank you for these tutorials and please keep them up.

This is ideal for PC enthusiasts who are a bit hesitant on entry into Water Cooling kits as they might be afraid to ask the "How do I install...." . Thank you for the input into this and please keep up the fantastic work both in the tutorials and the products.

  • Hello, I have a Corsair 400R case, Should I get a H100 or H80 CPU cooler?

  • Or a drum head to a drum :D

  • i sure love my super duper uber ultra magnificiently efficient h80 in my cheap ass antec 200

  • Geoff, You Legend

  • Sneak in some dominator ram there

  • This works fine with mid tower cases right?

  • Comment removed

  • out of curiosity... what purpose does the two fans serve? couldn't one fan do it?
