Thank you--best thing I've ever done in terms of training my poodle. He not only rings the bell to go out, which he does EVERTIME he needs to potty, but I am not kidding--when our cat is at the door wanting to come in, he rings the bell then too!!-we let the cat in and Mo, our standard poodle, doesn't even go outside---he is that smart and is simply telling us to come open the door for the cat!!! THanks again.
I have a 12 week old standard poodle getting shipped to me this week. I just lost my last one to a battle with cancer--he was only 5. I taught him over 20 commands at least, but I NEED TO KNOW how you taught your poodle to pull on that bell to go outside!--That is awesome!
@bwief - Every time before we went outside, I would gently grab his face and take his nose across the bells, saying in a happy tone 'Outside!' and as soon as the bells chimmed against his nose, the door opened and I made outside a very positive experience. Always make it fun.
