Nice tribute to the Tuskegee airmen. I never heard anything about them until I bought the movie. Its very sad that their accomplishments went under the rug like dust. I raise my hat to them and thanks for remembering.
Gear Vendors OD had slow shifts. Took about a second to go to OD. GV wanted $600 bux for the rebuild, NAPA wanted $1.50 for the snap ring and 'O' rings. :-)
We did 12.99 sec. @ 103 mph in the quarter mile at Empire Dragway, Mount Morris, NY. 4,700 lbs. 4.11 gear, 28" tall 345mm wide Pirelli "Qualifier" road race slicks.
@ElectraGSX In a car that heavy you must be making some serious HP to make a 12.99. Good job and it sounds sick, would like to see more vids of this car.
6 time 'Modified' champion Dave Machuga developed the special suspension. She can handle a road course at Watkins Glen, Solo II for SCCA,, Silver State Classic, or a night at Empire dragway. Faithful Pursuit is very versatile and a pretty heavy hammer!
Participated in the Silver State Classic Challenge in 2009 but did not run due to a suspension concern. Did 'low speed' triple digits in testing in the desert.
The wheels were custom made by P.S. Engineering with hand cast centers. The first tires were Pirelli P-Zero System. She currently rides on Michelin PS-2 Nitrogen filled; 335/35/17 rears and 275/45/17 fronts. PS-2 still have the Y rating and are a 200 mph plus tire at rated load capacity. 5,100 lbs at 200 mph would be awesome.
Provided 'Top Cover' escort for Tuskegee Airmen bomber pilot reunion in 2008. Alton Burton and Herbert Thorpe had not seen each other since 1946! Their stretch Lincoln Continental had Red Tail escort to the Wings of Eagles.
Dave Machuga, Machuga Chassis Works, personally built her NASCAR CUP suspension. He welded the 4130 Chromoly 5 link rear suspension with spherical ends and Carrera Coil Overs. Gary Tyler, GT Performance FORD built the Versalles 9" Ford HD rear with Moser Axles with Daytona Big Bearing support, "N" Nodular case. He prepared a 2.5 ratio high speed traction lock and 3.33 spool on a N case as well.
The 'Faithful Pursuit' was unveiled on 24 April 2004 by B. Gen. Michael Hall, USAF Retired. The special ceremony has held at the Wings of Eagles Air Museum at the Elmira/Corning regional airport. Mike served as the director of the museum and has done a wonderful job there for many years.
It was purchased from DeFeo Buick; a few years before the infamous DeFeo murders in Amityville. I bought her on Jupiter Avenue in Coney Island Brooklyn, in '78 for $575 bucks.
Pulling the trans this week and going from the 2.48 to 3.33 spool for some 1/4 mile action in the spring. Hopefully we can work out the many bugs before too long.
It would really help if you got someone who can take good video. With a real camera...

We cruised on Fountain Avenue and Columbia Street in Red Hook back in 1980. Some good racing back then, premium was 50 cents or something like that!
Scotty Guadagno raced a green '70 225 coupe back then, 11.7s on the "juice"! Pee Gee built my motor in '08.
