The girl who played Sweet is definitely the best one. Spike and Giles doesn't even sound like they want to be there, and Giles is way too low. Buffy's voice is... simply not fit to sing. Especially not on the high notes.
Spike and a couple poeple were Dull Buffy sounded alright and Giles good too but spike was a littel off and too sad like i dont know how to put it but great show!
Buffy had way too little choreography and her articulation was elementary at best, as well as emphasis placement. Her sining was dull and flat, and held no emotion. It felt overly rehearsed, like the actress was just "going through the motions" Background characters held emotions for only a few seconds, and after that looked bored and looked like they were just milling about. And some simple backdriops wouldn't hurt. A red couch and thrift store chair does not a set make.
i'm sorry if I offend you. I'm sure you worked well on what appears to be a small budget, am I right? even so there are all sorts of places with material to make sets with cheaply while still looking cool or you could've used that semi see through fabric that gets used all the time on Broadway. next time just work harder to find better actors and actresses. there is always SOMEONE who wants to act on stage. no matter what the part. your only job is to find the ones with talent and good singing.
seeing as how awful the original music was. but still they could've made it better. maybe next time you could give us a bit more "wow" please I mean some of these guys have real potential not jusst fake potential. i'm talking of coursse about Sweet and anya and MAYBE giles. one last question. Why did Spike have a half mullet gerbil thing on his head? he looked like Eddie cullen bad version though. Please don't mistake my words for 'flames". in the "give me something to sing about there should have been at least two guys to play the demons being clobbered by buffy... in that fast part she was way to still.. she she should've done some fighting... overall it was pretty nice
I can understand the good points of this and the effort is there. However, I didn't think it was good at all. The dancing was to stiff. They were ment to be under the influence of a singing and dancing demon, not paralysed by Medusa.
I have had lots of stage experience both on stage and behind the scenes. I think they have done a great job! I am jealous to have not been part of it. I can't believe how much negativity there is with "fans" of BTVS being so negative about a production celebrating the masterpiece of Once More with Feeling, produced and starring FANS! Thank you for posting. If someone wants to produce something like this, I will happily lend my voice.

I really liked the look Sweets gave the rest of the Scoobies at 6:41, and that wasn't even in the TV show. So kudos on that. Finally, that fact that you guy decided to do Buffy is awesome. I've sat through many of my school plays, and been in the orchestra for my school musicals. It would have been awesome if it was Buffy but it never was. :(

Good effort and not bad for an amateur performance. Though I do have a few critics. At 4:02, the line should be "I think you already know" not "Don't you already know". That may be a small difference but I think there's a huge difference in the meaning behind it. When Sweet asks Buffy isn't life a miraculous thing, answering "don't you already know" seems more like just a response where as "I think you already know" is implying no which is the perfect intro to Buffy's somewhat cynical song..

This isn't that bad, Perhaps the actors could have put more enthusiasm into it, to make it look more interesting, And no offence to the person playing Spike- But Epic Fail, I love Spike and you don't play him well. The person playing Buffy was pretty good, Couldn't hit the high notes like Sarah but did a very good job trying. All in all-Not bad! :)
Personally I think this was pretty decent. It's a hard story to capture and it was achieved decently. Alright there were flaws but I enjoyed it nevertheless, I thought the staging aimed to stay close to the original but still use the space they had well. More props would have been nice, but guessing this was a budget issue. Good job guys!!!! =]

this was pretty good but theres one thing, the guy who did spike shouldn't have used an accent while singing, and this comment may have been made before and i apologies if it has but James Marsters is an American who on buffy played the british spike, so whe he sang he dropped almost all trace of the accent, just some constructive criticism other than that that was awesome

Buffy was a good singer, the rest were not so hot. They managed to make Giles' & Spike's accents into some sort of weird parody. Overall it was a good effort though. I don't understand the female Sweet (second time I have seen this) first of all Sweet is clearly a guy in the show, second he is far less creepy as a girl and the whole Dawn story makes little sense, as does the eventual reveal with Xander.
The fact that the role of Sweet was played by a woman in our show does not mean we actually changed the gender of the character - Sweet is still a male demon! the fact was, no one else came close to capturing Sweet's character and style like the actress we cast.
Throughout stage history men have played women, women have played men - it's perfectly normal.
@willowspuppy1 Sorry, without seeing any of Sweet's songs I thought that you were doing the same thing I have seen other versions do. I didn't mean to offend, it was my misinterpretation. Sweet is one of my favorite guest characters. I know that men and women have exchanged rolls and there are even male characters in opera written especially for female singers.
@willowspuppy1 This is the second stage production I've seen on youtube with a female Sweet, and I think both times it was a good casting choice. The woman in this one is really talented! ^_^
Aw come on guys, it's hard to do a musical. They aren't professional actors. We did Sweeny Todd my senior year and it was a lot harder to dance/sing/act then it looks. Granted, they could have worked on the acting a little better, maybe they were strapped for time?

None of them can sing, dance nor act (except sweet) Most of the time they were completely out of tune, the dancing was HORRIBLE and the acting... just wasn't there.
1. I think the Buffy actress was great, okay the dance wasn´t THAT good, okay, okay. BUT it takes a lot of courage to stand there and act and I wouldn´t be able to. Besides her singing was quite good, I think.
2. The Sweet actress was BRILLIANT. I love her voice and she really is awesome here + in Sweets Song
3. Okay...Spike. Yeah, he really seems like behind stage there is someone forcing him to sing. Sounds bad, sry but very brave I must say.
I've seen a high school do it better. I seriously hope you didn't charge anyone to see this. Against my better judgment I sat through the entire video (probably due to my love of the content) searching unfruitfully for just one redeeming quality. To say that it was terrible would be a ridiculous understatement.

It looks like no effort went in to this, and obviously nobody can sing or act. Please just leave the episode as it is! Nobody can remake Buffy.

Some of the voices were OK - to a certain extent, but there's no stage presence, no flare.
And the character of Spike? Who cast this? Where they dumb, deaf and blind? He doesn't look like he wants to be there, so still and doesn't know tone if it sang to him in the face.
If i was a paying audience member watching this performance, i would seriously ask for my money back :(

I think they did a great job. Sure, they are not some professional singers, and some notes are not that good, but that's not the point. The point is, that they had fun doing this, and that is what I can feel. I love the Giles-actor, and the actresses all have good voices. I thank you for doing this, for publishing this, so I could see it.
Sweet is fantastic! They sound a bit nervous, and tones seem a little off. I don;t think the song sounds right with an alto Buffy. it takes guts to attempt such a musical though. kudos.
i think they did ok...i definately feel xander got the whole thing down for stumbling over words on i'll never tell the "tight embrace" part there is one other production on youtube i saw and was shocked the guy just stumbled over the stumble lol. but im wondering if people actually watch the episode or just go read script act then suck. not that these gus suck but there could be improvement like mot things in life
Contrary to what others may have posted, I think the cast did a splendid job on their respective parts. I think the fact that in their production, casting Sweet as a female brings more dimensions to the character.Overall it was amazing and thank you for posting.

This is really cool. I am currently trying to get my theatre troupe to do OMWF. How did you get the rights? Are there any? Our board wont let us do this unless we are sure we wont get sued by Fox.

Buffy was a good singer, the rest were not so hot. They managed to make Giles' & Spike's accents into some sort of weird parody. Overall it was a good effort though. I don't understand the female Sweet (second time I have seen this) first of all Sweet is clearly a guy in the show, second he is far less creepy as a girl and the whole Dawn story makes little sense, as does the eventual reveal with Xander.

The fact that the role of Sweet was played by a woman in our show does not mean we actually changed the gender of the character - Sweet is still a male demon! the fact was, no one else came close to capturing Sweet's character and style like the actress we cast.
Throughout stage history men have played women, women have played men - it's perfectly normal.

@willowspuppy1 Sorry, without seeing any of Sweet's songs I thought that you were doing the same thing I have seen other versions do. I didn't mean to offend, it was my misinterpretation. Sweet is one of my favorite guest characters. I know that men and women have exchanged rolls and there are even male characters in opera written especially for female singers.

Aw come on guys, it's hard to do a musical. They aren't professional actors. We did Sweeny Todd my senior year and it was a lot harder to dance/sing/act then it looks. Granted, they could have worked on the acting a little better, maybe they were strapped for time?

None of them can sing, dance nor act (except sweet) Most of the time they were completely out of tune, the dancing was HORRIBLE and the acting... just wasn't there.

1. I think the Buffy actress was great, okay the dance wasn´t THAT good, okay, okay. BUT it takes a lot of courage to stand there and act and I wouldn´t be able to. Besides her singing was quite good, I think.
2. The Sweet actress was BRILLIANT. I love her voice and she really is awesome here + in Sweets Song
3. Okay...Spike. Yeah, he really seems like behind stage there is someone forcing him to sing. Sounds bad, sry but very brave I must say.
4. Giles was...oooookay but not rly good. Sry.

I've seen a high school do it better. I seriously hope you didn't charge anyone to see this. Against my better judgment I sat through the entire video (probably due to my love of the content) searching unfruitfully for just one redeeming quality. To say that it was terrible would be a ridiculous understatement.

Usually I would try and find a way to compliment this, but this time it literally KILLED me to watch and listen to this. It's a disgrace to Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Joss Whedon. It looks like no effort went in to this, and obviously nobody can sing or act. Please just leave the episode as it is! Nobody can remake Buffy.

hmmm... i usually hate people who criticise others work on youtube... but this made me cringe so badly.
Some of the voices were OK - to a certain extent, but there's no stage presence, no flare.
And the character of Spike? Who cast this? Where they dumb, deaf and blind? He doesn't look like he wants to be there, so still and doesn't know tone if it sang to him in the face.
If i was a paying audience member watching this performance, i would seriously ask for my money back :(

and another thing, why make a big deal out of a girl playing someone in a stage musical? its a stage musical. people gender swap ALL THE TIME. esspecially in amateur productions.
and as it says, its was made by fans of the show, not by professional actors and actresses. people need to etiher enjoy what people put their hard work in to or just leave it alone.

I dont get the big deal wiht why everyones so angry and mean. This was a production that looked like it had no budget, certainly wasnt licensed, and didnt have much backing it. and yet they put it on. The singers arent amazing, the actors arent perfect, but its a stage show of a great musical. have any of you haters ever done this!?
personally im just glad to hear new renditions of it. keeps the fandom burning. i always imagined how i would stage this scene in the theatre.

I think they did a great job. Sure, they are not some professional singers, and some notes are not that good, but that's not the point. The point is, that they had fun doing this, and that is what I can feel. I love the Giles-actor, and the actresses all have good voices. I thank you for doing this, for publishing this, so I could see it.

Sweet is fantastic! They sound a bit nervous, and tones seem a little off. I don;t think the song sounds right with an alto Buffy. it takes guts to attempt such a musical though. kudos.

i think they did ok...i definately feel xander got the whole thing down for stumbling over words on i'll never tell the "tight embrace" part there is one other production on youtube i saw and was shocked the guy just stumbled over the stumble lol. but im wondering if people actually watch the episode or just go read script act then suck. not that these gus suck but there could be improvement like mot things in life

Contrary to what others may have posted, I think the cast did a splendid job on their respective parts. I think the fact that in their production, casting Sweet as a female brings more dimensions to the character.Overall it was amazing and thank you for posting.
