Kyle was actually not supposed to be on the show. A clip before the show (backstage) on "Tenacious D: The Complete Masterworks 2" showed Jack's cue, and the script did not have Kyle's name. That is why they look visibly pissed when they enter, and Jack says, "Thank you for having us both." Lettermen did not have any questions prepared for Kyle because Kyle was not supposed to be there.
