I'm Richard's older daughter and I just wanted to say I really appreciate you putting this up. It was befroe I was born but I used to love watching all of my dad's old videos. My sister found this and showed it to me and it just puts a smile on my face. Thank you :)
OMG! Richard died? That's awful. I knew Rich (and competed with him) from 1983-1987. I remember when he went to WFTV in Orlando. I figured he was on his way and wouldn't be back at BBH. So he returned when Shep was there? Really bummed to hear about Richard. He really helped raise the bar in Fort Misery.
@news4ddt I think Richard didn't leave until late 1990 or early 1991. In that one year I was at the Fox station and when I returned to WBBH in the spring of 1991, Shep was then anchoring weekends.
I am saddened to report that Richard Frohlich passed away January 10, 2010.
I worked with Richard from 1988 to 1990.
I remember a weekend when Shepard Smith was a new reporter in the WBBH newsroom and Shep jumped up from his desk and exclaimed "Signal seven, I just heard them say signal seven!" Signal Seven, to my understanding was the Police Scanner lingo for a dead body being reported. Richard bellowed, "Calm Down Shepard!". :)
