in fact most of the sayings regarding black in a negative context are very old and have NOTHING to do with black people, for example "black sheep of the family" has been in use since the 1700's and refers to fact....shepherds disliked black sheep as their fleeces weren't suitable for dying and so were worth less than those of white sheep, also "black" in these types of sayings refers mainly to absence of light....dark, night, black, not in the light etc, NOTHING TO DO WITH BLACK PEOPLE, :-)
