If you're shooting the .44 Magnum you'll find less recoil on your hands if you lean a little forward, bend both your arms slightly and allow the recoil the take the gun up into the air instead of back into your hands. I've hurt my wrists so bad I was unable to write for a week with a .44 Magnum, until someone gave me this bit of advice, and it works!
