  • "Don't think you know what Lead Belly sounds like until you've heard this." Well said! I completely agree. The only thing is, these 1939 sessions for Musicraft were not Lead Belly's first studio recordings. He recorded numerous sides for ARC (a subsidiary of Columbia) in 1935, of which six were released on 78 rpm discs.

  • I think I prefer this to the waltz version by Lead Belly that comes up on Youtube. I especially like the melodic bass runs. This man was a master of the 12 string, which is not an easy solo instrument.

  • Yeah this is clearly the best. No doubt about it

  • Too bad there are few films of the Lead. He's as influential, if not more, than Robert Johnson. This is my favorite version of Risin' Sun Blues, traditional. Emphasis on the bass notes makes the rhythm and mood of the song. Love it!

  • by far better then bob dylan, the animals and dolly parton combined

  • The Animals is better, but i actually get the song now. thanks black man!

  • @mcnuggs420 The Animals suck!!!

  • @LouisLeeKH you fucking suck

  • @MegaBubonicChronic You mother-fucking suck!!!

  • @LouisLeeKH how did you muster the strength to crawl out of that abortion bucket?

  • most talented and powerful version... thx!

  • Lead Belly should have dominated the fucking world!!!

  • @PasoliniIsMe In many ways, I believe he did. Atleast influenced it.

  • best version by a 'delta' mile :p

  • I have it on CD but thanks for puting it on here so I dont need to carry my CD around with me :).
