I liked how the main villian was forged into a machine and stuck forever, just like Robo himself. We didn't need to see his brain being extracted from his head though. Disturbing. Could have cut that and gave us a deleted scene instead.
Why do so many people hate this movie? It is damned good, but not as good as Robocop of course. Still, this movie is better than most action movies and it sure as hell beats the crap they produce today.
As a Christian I avoid super gory, foul-language thick movies no matter how cool they are. I saw this at a time when I'd let wrong things like that into my head. These flicks would have been every bit as successful with out it! But I have to admit that I have a guilty pleasure in Robocop-1 where Migual Ferrar looked directly into the camera(and thus into Robo's 'eyes' when no one else was around) & said, " You're gonna be a BAD etc-etc-ER!" I laugh even now and shame on me for it.
Same here, it is good you are aware of it than most fanboys/girls who get desensitized watching this kind of movies, not really being responsible but just letting themselves get swept up in it all. In that, is another way of saying, "What seperates us Men from the Boys", "Women from the Girls". No matter who you are, everyone has a guilty pleasure. I personally thought this film was okay. It's one of those movies I liked alot more when I first watched it than after when I read some of the reviews and thought about it a bit more. Robocop was a tough act to follow (let's be honest it sounds just as silly when you try to take it seriously like this at first glance) like Ghostbusters, Spiderman 2, Evil Dead 2, and Terminator 2. The story is kind of a mess at times, but at least it gave effort and the action scenes were nice.
yeah but he directed the moment and the direction made it what it was in my opinion. It needed that Ivan Krishner coldness, the same coldness that, without Lucas watching over his shoulder, or even Verhoven for that matter, ruined Robocop 2.

No way! It was brilliant movie. It was as great as original, maybe even better because had more action scenes. The only one annoying person was in it - little kid. All others were great.
When they they 'soften' him up by giving him loads of directives to follow, you could say thats exactly what they've done to Police and the 'justice system' here in the UK, too much bureaucracy which has taken any powers away from the Police. We need to be tough like the pre-'updated' Robo not the one with 1,000,001 directives to follow (that is before he sorted himself out via 1000 volts). Not keen on Robo 2 tho. Robocop 1 all the way!!
that scene where robocop fights with Cain has a messege. Cain has become Robocop 2, he has more advanced technology but is unrealiable and bad. And he still loses to the original Robocop.
So when that fight comes, to me it's like the original movie is fighting with the sequel, and of course- the original wins, because it's better.

@tripdefect87 I can't say either. That is a tough choice. Both great franchise got ruined. I just read that the Robocop movie that was about to be made was canceled due to money problems. One of the creators of TMNT wants to do another movie, but half real, like the 1st one, and half CGI. A friend at work told me that the creator wants more action and a bit more adult oriented for grown ups. That sounds cool to me.
me too, man. i saw it in the theatres at like age 10 or something (our small town cinema didnt check age limits) and i had creepy nightmares about that CGI Caine face on the little facemonitor on Robo2, it was so weird with the facial expressions and no speech and random acts of violence.
I love this movie, not as good as the first but still a kick ass flick. After this it went downhill with those shitty direct to dvd movies,shitty tv series and the pile of shit named robocop 3. God even Peter Weller didn't want anything to do with that garbage. To me he's what kane hodder is the the friday the 13th series, it's just not the same without him.
Tom Noonan is such a great actor, to bad the directors dont recognize him that much. He makes such a great villain. This is the best robocop film. better than 3 for sure.

No way! It was brilliant movie. It was as great as original, maybe even better because had more action scenes. The only one annoying person was in it - little kid. All others were great.

When they they 'soften' him up by giving him loads of directives to follow, you could say thats exactly what they've done to Police and the 'justice system' here in the UK, too much bureaucracy which has taken any powers away from the Police. We need to be tough like the pre-'updated' Robo not the one with 1,000,001 directives to follow (that is before he sorted himself out via 1000 volts). Not keen on Robo 2 tho. Robocop 1 all the way!!

that scene where robocop fights with Cain has a messege. Cain has become Robocop 2, he has more advanced technology but is unrealiable and bad. And he still loses to the original Robocop.
So when that fight comes, to me it's like the original movie is fighting with the sequel, and of course- the original wins, because it's better.

Robocop3 should have been 2. If you don't agree with me too bad. I see anyone who likes this piece of drek, as subintelligent and not worth dealing with!

i thought it was a bad move to have robo stripped/ drilled to bits, its top of the list of robot-based-cliches.
Plus he was already 'killed' once as Murphy so to have it done again was a bit like overkill.

@tripdefect87 I can't say either. That is a tough choice. Both great franchise got ruined. I just read that the Robocop movie that was about to be made was canceled due to money problems. One of the creators of TMNT wants to do another movie, but half real, like the 1st one, and half CGI. A friend at work told me that the creator wants more action and a bit more adult oriented for grown ups. That sounds cool to me.

me too, man. i saw it in the theatres at like age 10 or something (our small town cinema didnt check age limits) and i had creepy nightmares about that CGI Caine face on the little facemonitor on Robo2, it was so weird with the facial expressions and no speech and random acts of violence.
still love the movie to death tho. :)

Robocop is one of my favorite Sci-Fi/Action movies ever made. RoboCop is real classic with fantastic storyline, visual effects....
I also love Robocop 2 and Robocop 3 - very underrated movies.

I love this movie, not as good as the first but still a kick ass flick. After this it went downhill with those shitty direct to dvd movies,shitty tv series and the pile of shit named robocop 3. God even Peter Weller didn't want anything to do with that garbage. To me he's what kane hodder is the the friday the 13th series, it's just not the same without him.
