hiii ,, i bought a canon 550d 4months back with a 18-55mm lens n now m thinking of upgrading my lens coz m not getting the sought of results i need.... from this....so should i buy the ef-s 15-85mm or 18-135mm....i basically need a sharp and very good image quality.....plz suggest some best lenses from ur side too which are the best multipurpose lens.
Funny how people always talk bad about non-L glass. But all good photographers would know how good a 15-85 is. It's as sharp as a lot of L zooms like 24-105 and 24-70 and even sharper than 17-40. The L fixed focals are very great lenses but the L zooms dont offer better Perfomance than their EF-S brothers (esp. look at 17-55) .. build quality is better of course.
@roger767 nice 2.8 but I really appreciate the 15mm side and the 85mm side too. I sold a 28-105 that was used with my eos3 and this seemed the perfect replacement in digital times where iso can be handled more comfy my 2 cents....
Hi, i'm using 15-85 lens. And noticed that there are dark corners in the viewfinder same with the pics i've taken. Is this normal cause it's starting to annoy me.
@osnapblood That is one of the pitfalls of this lens, wide open (f/3.5 at its widest and f/5.6 at its most telephoto) this lens will vignette significantly, giving those darker corners... I have found that the best option is either to stop down about a stop or so, or just fix it in post. happy shooting!
@osnapblood My 2 cents. I have mine on a basic Canon t2i it has an included correction for this specific lens on the menu (it seems it worked) and it does not show any vignetting. still the basic bodies of the rebels do not give me a 'focus' perfect I have tried this on 2 bodies the xti and the T2i many shots get to be out of focus no matter what. Not an issue with film eos3 and better bodies have a fix 7d and up for correcting the lens focus spot a canon-no-no
@aronchas I have used a few L lenses but none as much as I have used the 15-85, a big thing about lenses is their personality, which over time you learn what will produce a good image from a specific lens... with this lens it has been very easy for me to get to that sweet spot, the colors and sharpness are great, so I would say that the optics are pretty damn impressive even when comparing to an L lens
Great video. I found this very informative and the information you gave was very helpful and concise. I liked the fact that you also pointed out the negatives as well as the positive points unlike some You Tubers who say that everything is excellent and has no flaws.
Looking forward to see what shots I can get from this lens,
Is this lens only made in Taiwan??? No Japan made for this lens??? and does it really matter where it is made??? Help please!!! it is no joke buying this expensive lens... its price is already near the Holy L grail of lenses... so i want to make sure... thanks man...
@truknayr23 I believe all EF-S lenses are made in Taiwan unless you get a very very very early version of this lens, I'm almost 100% sure they're all Taiwan. I can assure you it is a great lens, it would be nice if it did have that red ring though :P
@paradiddleluke hey thanks for taking time to reply... anyway... a friend of mine got one of these lens and wow it was great.. super sharp image and also a very manly heavy lens... LOL!!!
@paradiddleluke hi i got one question remained unanswered..so if you please. im going for a trip to canada and ill be photographing in the worst wheater conditions.. does this means this lens is not the type im looking for because its unsealed and moisture will take effect on the lens focus engine and in general? and if i want to ashure a good lens for this kind of conditions i should think of buying a proper L canon lens?
@benmints Sorry this response is so late, I haven't been checking in a while... I would highly recommend a weather sealed lens for this trip, definitely an L lens and you will need to get a supported UV filter to complete the weather sealing. This lens is great optically but unfortunately is not weather sealed and should not be used in very rainy, snowy, dusty, or sandy conditions.
You're point about a 'fast' zoom lens never really being fast enough in low light compared to a prime is a very valid, and relevant one. The variable aperture was a huge turnoff for me, and I was looking at 24-105 for crop (7D) just because I wanted the fixed aperture and don't mind losing the wide, but after some test shooting this proved to be a non-issue.
i have just bought this lens i have it about 2 weeks and now experiencing lens creep from the 35mm mark it falkls back to the 25mm mark... im less than impressed has anyone else same problem with new lens? especially as its such an expensive lens only have it 2 weeks barely!
@ChaosRiddenReaper this lens would work very very well on any crop sensor camera, including the 60D. Based on your shooting I would encourage you to look at what you generally shoot and see if you'd rather the reach/wide angle of this lens, or if a quicker aperture is more important to you, it is a great lens!
thanks for the informative review. i have the same 50mm prime lens and also a standard telephoto lens. however, i was thinking of upgrading from my standard kit lens (18-55mm) to something more versatile. however, i am now stuck between between the 15-85mm and the 17-40mm f/4L. please shed some light on my situation. thanks in advance :)
@alakay1990 This is where I was when I was first looking to replace my 18-55 IS, the 17-40 f/4L has the fact that its an L, which is very attractive, one of the cheapest L's there is and it is a nice little lens, that being said, 40mm is not very versatile. If you are walking around generally on a walkaround its nice to have a large range than that lens gives, if you are ok with switching to your other lenses often then It is a great lens in its own, but the 15-85 will give you a nice HUGE range
@paradiddleluke I agree with you that the 15-85 is the more practical walkaround lens. The 17-40 is a wide-angle lens, but ironically, you get even wider with the 15-85.
@thejan4129 Very true, the 17-40L works on all types of sensors, including Full Frame, on which 17mm is much wider than the 15mm on an APS-C (24mm equivalent for FF)... I was looking into the 17-40L cause I was really wanting an L lens, but its range is just too restrictive for me on a cropped sensor.
@paradiddleluke after a look I find it now that 24mm equiv to 28 for an L lens would had been better (maybe) as I never got to see the gear I buy until it arrives..regards..O
@MuSiC4LaiF USM focusing will be silent, nothing on the outside of the lens will rotate (the focus ring will not rotate while the camera is focusing), and it will generally be more accurate. You can also grab the focus ring and turn it for manual focusing whenever you want, no need to turn off the AF switch before manually focusing.
@misakralicek I looked at the 17-70 OS, I never actually got to the point where I got one on my camera, the increased range of the 15-85 as well as the full time manual/silent AF was worth the extra money to me in the 15-85, I'm sure the 17-70 is good but my 15-85 gives me some of the sharpest pictures I've ever seen haha
@nyc0053 The IS is very helpful for low light but compared to a prime with a 1.4 aperture, depending what focal length you are at f/5.6 usually won't cut it as well. a flash can help this alot by the way! it all depends on what you are shooting, if there isn't much motion and you have a tripod or steady hands, 85mm at 1/40th of a second or a bit slower (if you have steady hands) will be fine, if there is fast motion 1/40th wont cut it.
@fwoodman Unfortunately I have not used that lens before, If I do manage to get my hands on one to review it I will try to! more reviews coming soon on EF 50 1.8 mark II, EF 50 1.4 USM, the T1i itself, and the Opteka Battery Grip
@PoopyPantyPoop not a douchey question don't worry. I have shot film, a 10 minute short video for a theater/english class last year, the t1i was a big help there offering much better quality than i could get elsewhere. I am more of a photographer than videographer, and if I was serious about video i'd want an external mic that I could plug into the camera which the t2i does offer, its just not really my thing, though as you say the quality is great if not picky about sound.
@VidPro95 IS and USM has nothing to do with the 1.6 crop factor, the EF-S model designation means that the lens is made specifically for 1.6 or APS-C sensor cameras and will vignette or interfere with the mirror mechanism in a 1.3 APS-H or Full Frame sensors. the IS and USM are completely different parts of the lens that can easily be put in 1.6 and FF lenses alike.
@paradiddleluke So 18mm will actually look like 18mm and 55mm will actually look like 55mm. I was plannng on getting that lense and using 22mm so it looks like 35mm compensating for the 1.6 factor. I dont need to do that right?
@VidPro95 Actually no, the crop factor is still there, so 22mm will be the 35mm point of view on a full frame sensor. the 35mm equivalence of this lens is 24-136mm
@paradiddleluke , yep, I'll be using an external flash and you do know your stuff.. Thanks a lot for responding so quickly..I agree with everything that you've said.. The Tamron 17-50 2.8 has been getting a lot of great reviews also. Thank u
Hey, this was a good review. I'm getting a 7D body in Jan2011 and I'm going to be shooting everything from weddings to portraits to carnival..I looking for recommendations lens wise.. The 2.8's that I can afford are the sigma 17-70,17-50 n 70-200.. Im looking for 2 good lenses to start off with (I will probably get the nifty 50).. Can u folks recommend anything besides L series..
@STEPPHAN7 For events, if you are using a flash this lens will be fine, however the industry standard is the 24-70L 2.8. Its focal length is more useful on a FF (in my opinion) however its a strong lens with a relatively fast aperture with great quality wide open. If you cannot afford this and want wider, the 15-85 will do ( with flash only). When events are dark the IS will not help you with moving people, that is when you really do need a faster aperture, look at Tamrons 17-50 2.8 as well.
@maraneelo The 15-85 can get close, but I believe its something like 1:3 macro, not a large magnification ratio, if you want true macro the sigma 17-70 offers 1:2.4 macro or something, true macro will be needing a macro dedicated lens
@TechCuber for constructive comments originally... now if you would like to honor that, I would be happy to hear why you think my views towards this particular product are "amateur"
@paradiddleluke Because there's a beautiful review done by Cameralabs, it's unnecessary rather review your camera, or a L lens. We can read reviews on the web. No offense at all actually
@TechCuber True about that, but how many reviews of the 7D are there? do you think if there is 1 review on all of youtube of a particular product that no one wants another opinion? I know when I was debating this lens I wanted more, which Is why I posted this video.
I shoot video on my 60D and am looking for a wide to ultra-wide lens. I have not had experience shooting with IS in video mode and would like to know how well IS on the 15-85 would absorb the occasional shakes and bumps, prior to committing to a purchase. I prefer a wide aperture, but can find nothing wide with IS. Could you please advise if this lens would be good to stabilize video?
@pmaddison While the IS is very good in this lens, 15mm, though being wide, will probably not give you the complete wide angle look you may be looking for. If you want more of a UWA or fisheye this lens will not really meet that goal. If you want really wide angle I would look at EF-S 10-22. If you are really wanting the IS then yah I think the 15-85 is the widest lens canon offers with IS and I believe it would absorb the shakes and bumps pretty well, I think panning may be a problem with IS.
hey buddy... great review.... i have a tamron 17-50 non VC and a Canon 70-300. I was looking at a lens that could give me a slight egde at the wide angle and even cover up the gap of 50 to 70 between the lenses i just mentioned. Do you recommend this lens for my requirement? or do you think that this lens would be useless with the 17-50 already with me?
@droidari Hi droidari, thats a difficult one, the gap from 50 to 70mm is really not that huge as well as 15, though being quite wide, is probably not much of a difference over the 17 mm of your 17-50. if you want a walkaround with more reach and a bit more width and then only using the 17-50 when low light or something that makes sense, but other than that i'd decide if you want the wide more than the reach gap and maybe get an UWA like the 10-22 or tokina's models etc.
@paradiddleluke Thanks buddy! I have noted the point... so, i am off the idea of getting one of these.... your opinion made the decision a lot easier!
I just got my 15-85, I noticed when on tripod or held very steady with IS on the IS will shift and blur the image. I know you are not suppose to use IS on a tripod but my kit 18-55 never did this. When there is no movement for the IS to correct the correction mirror seems to drift to one side then stop. I have read a few cases on this online, does your lens do this?
@wowcolors Yeah I have actually noticed that a bit when I was on a tripod recently, didn't really effect to much for me because I was using shorter shutter speeds, however canon usually does say if you are on a tripod it is never a bad idea to turn IS off. if you are getting a bit of camera shake from pressing the button consider using 2 second, or 10 second shutter delay or using a remote.
Hey im just about to buy a 7D and was just wondering since I found a kit with this lens in it instead of the 18-135mm or the 28-135mm would this lens basically replace both of those? I know its obviously a much better lens but will I be able to do everything with it that i could do with those other two kit lenses making it worth the extra cash for the 15-85mm kit?? Thanks man
@moviemaker332 Pretty much, the 15-85 obviously doesn't reach quite as far as either of those lenses, however its very sharp which makes it very very crop-able if you need to get closer than the zoom can get you. I feel that the Image Quality, sharpness, colors, contrast, etc. of this lens makes it definitely worth the extra cash over those alternate lenses if you have the cash available! it will also give you more of a wide angle then either of those lenses which can help!
i bought this lens about 2 mos ago, all i can say is you get what you pay for and by that means this is a very good lens coz its not cheap.. im very happy with it, i dunno if i just got a very good copy or it is how it is.. and mine doesnt creep...
I’m looking forward to buy a good quality general purpose lens..me!Lenses I have in mind1. Canon 15-85mm F3.5-5.6 USM 2. Sigma 17-70mm F2.8 Sigma 17-70mm f2.8 is a macro lens. So I hope it will allow me to shoot macro + wide angle+ general shooting the sales man in Australia is pushing me to buy this lens..He recons that Sigma is a great lens (All in one package) Is Sigma 17-70mm F2.8 a better choice when compared to Canon 15-85mm F3.5? Is there any big difference in quality of optics?
@Kiraraa500 first off make sure you remember these lenses are both variable aperture, the sigma is only 2.8 at its widest, and f/4 at its longest which is a stop faster than the canon. however if you want true USM/ full time manual focusing then the sigma does not have that, only the canon does. If you are thinking the OS model of that sigma then they should be pretty similar, both lenses are good, there is a large price difference but I love the optics of my canon, the colors and sharpness etc.
hi, nice review~ ^^ for the night scene pic, you shot it with handheld? I am going to shoot a lot of night scene (not extremely low light but night time) without tripod so I was wondering how was it for night scene shooting. I was going to buy the sigma 17-50mm f/2.8 but then the canon 60D does not have ma and i am afraid any problem that might be raised so trying to search for other lenses... thanks!
@MsDreamingLife, shooting on the wide end you can get sharp exposures at close to 1", if you have really steady shots probably even more. as for anything longer than that I would say use a tripod for sure. but if you can get the exposure to 1" and you want a wide view you should be fine, it may take a few shots but the IS here does not disappoint!
thanks! I bought it, I want to ask you do you notice the lens will creep at 50mm-24mm automatically... anyway, it is nice~ what is you lens cap written? mine is canon with ultrasonic on it....I wondered why there is difference... I exchanged it becoz of smth inside the lens, the previous one is written on canon only but the new one i got with canon and ultrasonic words on it..do you knw why?
@MsDreamingLife congrats on the new lens! yah it does creep from 50-24 if held straight up or straight down, its just one of those things we gotta live with, luckily I don't do much shooting vertically, so its more of a bother knowing that it creeps but doesn't actually effect anything.
as far as the lens cap, The EF-S 15-85 uses a USM motor, which is ultrasonic motor for autofocusing, it is silent and much quicker than the old motor, all lenses with USM come with caps with ultrasonic on them!
Nice review. Just wondering, I'm thinking abt getting the eos 550d/ Rebel T2i body and adding in this lens (15-85 IS USM). Your opinion, is it a good match? or is it gonna be a bit too big for the body?
@ezizam I have a 500D/T1i, it balances well when not gripped, it is also a great range for a crop sensor camera especially if you cannot afford a separate wide angle lens. it will balance better if you put a battery grip on your rebel.
@fretfrek If you are in the US the cheapest prices that I trust (thats the big part...) are Adorama (where I got it), Calumet photo, and B&H Photo... there are sometimes $100 rebates on it but I wouldn't want to get it from some sketchy website to save a hundred bucks, just save for an extra few weeks and get it from a reliable source that if anything did happen to your lens you could send it back and not worry about having to deal with a bad retailer... Adorama, BH, Calumet. thats my opinion
@ChaosRiddenReaper The long and short of it is that the sensor on a canon 7D, XXD (such as 50D or 40D) or XXXD (or the rebels for the states) have smaller sensors than that of the standard full frame 35mm film body. this is known as a 1.6 crop factor on these cameras meaning the lens you put it on will give you an EFFECTIVE field of view of 1.6 x (the focal length shown on the lens)
the 1D series is 1.3 crop factor. some nikons go 1.5x, the Four-Thirds system goes 2x. each has their perks.
@fatpaws I will definitely agree with you optically though I've never actually had my hands on the 17-55 2.8... The 17-55 has the constant 2.8 over the 15-85, however as said above that isn't very important to me so the 15-85 with its UD glass is perfect and great quality for me! I love this lens!
Hello! Paradiddleluke. I just bought this len(15-85mm) Great len!!, very good quality, well done built and give very sharp images!!. and very close to "L" line. I have a question for you, why is this Len is made in Taiwan?? I thought all canon are made from Japan! All my other lens are made in Japan. but this one. Is this len after market? not genuine? After I bought, I saw the name was print behind the len, " made in Taiwan" so what you think?? thank
@deklaola All of the EF-S lenses are made in Taiwan, not sure why, very very similar factories, probably just a bit cheaper for canon to produce from there. this is completely normal so don't be alarmed! enjoy the lens, its a real treat!

Great review! Lots of usefull info ! All the best man ! Thanks for posting !

Thx dude! Is it really that bad in low lighting? Also is the shutter speed ridiculously slow?
nyc0053 1 year ago
@nyc0053 The IS is very helpful for low light but compared to a prime with a 1.4 aperture, depending what focal length you are at f/5.6 usually won't cut it as well. a flash can help this alot by the way! it all depends on what you are shooting, if there isn't much motion and you have a tripod or steady hands, 85mm at 1/40th of a second or a bit slower (if you have steady hands) will be fine, if there is fast motion 1/40th wont cut it.

Any input on the Canon 18-200 lens? Is it sharp wide open as 15-85?
fwoodman 1 year ago
@fwoodman Unfortunately I have not used that lens before, If I do manage to get my hands on one to review it I will try to! more reviews coming soon on EF 50 1.8 mark II, EF 50 1.4 USM, the T1i itself, and the Opteka Battery Grip

not be be a douche but If you have a t1i why didn't you film the video with it
it has such great quality
PoopyPantyPoop 1 year ago
@PoopyPantyPoop not a douchey question don't worry. I have shot film, a 10 minute short video for a theater/english class last year, the t1i was a big help there offering much better quality than i could get elsewhere. I am more of a photographer than videographer, and if I was serious about video i'd want an external mic that I could plug into the camera which the t2i does offer, its just not really my thing, though as you say the quality is great if not picky about sound.

I know what 1.6 crop factor is but how does IS USM have anything to do with the 1.6 crop factor.
VidPro95 1 year ago
@VidPro95 IS and USM has nothing to do with the 1.6 crop factor, the EF-S model designation means that the lens is made specifically for 1.6 or APS-C sensor cameras and will vignette or interfere with the mirror mechanism in a 1.3 APS-H or Full Frame sensors. the IS and USM are completely different parts of the lens that can easily be put in 1.6 and FF lenses alike.
paradiddleluke 1 year ago
@paradiddleluke So 18mm will actually look like 18mm and 55mm will actually look like 55mm. I was plannng on getting that lense and using 22mm so it looks like 35mm compensating for the 1.6 factor. I dont need to do that right?
VidPro95 1 year ago
@VidPro95 Actually no, the crop factor is still there, so 22mm will be the 35mm point of view on a full frame sensor. the 35mm equivalence of this lens is 24-136mm
paradiddleluke 1 year ago
@paradiddleluke , yep, I'll be using an external flash and you do know your stuff.. Thanks a lot for responding so quickly..I agree with everything that you've said.. The Tamron 17-50 2.8 has been getting a lot of great reviews also. Thank u
STEPPHAN7 1 year ago
Hey, this was a good review. I'm getting a 7D body in Jan2011 and I'm going to be shooting everything from weddings to portraits to carnival..I looking for recommendations lens wise.. The 2.8's that I can afford are the sigma 17-70,17-50 n 70-200.. Im looking for 2 good lenses to start off with (I will probably get the nifty 50).. Can u folks recommend anything besides L series..
STEPPHAN7 1 year ago
@STEPPHAN7 For events, if you are using a flash this lens will be fine, however the industry standard is the 24-70L 2.8. Its focal length is more useful on a FF (in my opinion) however its a strong lens with a relatively fast aperture with great quality wide open. If you cannot afford this and want wider, the 15-85 will do ( with flash only). When events are dark the IS will not help you with moving people, that is when you really do need a faster aperture, look at Tamrons 17-50 2.8 as well.
paradiddleluke 1 year ago
@paradiddleluke......is this 15-85mm can shot macro photography?? thanks
maraneelo 1 year ago
@maraneelo The 15-85 can get close, but I believe its something like 1:3 macro, not a large magnification ratio, if you want true macro the sigma 17-70 offers 1:2.4 macro or something, true macro will be needing a macro dedicated lens

@paradiddleluke i don't know why the comment box is made then
TechCuber 1 year ago
@TechCuber for constructive comments originally... now if you would like to honor that, I would be happy to hear why you think my views towards this particular product are "amateur"
paradiddleluke 1 year ago
@paradiddleluke Because there's a beautiful review done by Cameralabs, it's unnecessary rather review your camera, or a L lens. We can read reviews on the web. No offense at all actually
TechCuber 1 year ago
@TechCuber True about that, but how many reviews of the 7D are there? do you think if there is 1 review on all of youtube of a particular product that no one wants another opinion? I know when I was debating this lens I wanted more, which Is why I posted this video.
paradiddleluke 1 year ago
I shoot video on my 60D and am looking for a wide to ultra-wide lens. I have not had experience shooting with IS in video mode and would like to know how well IS on the 15-85 would absorb the occasional shakes and bumps, prior to committing to a purchase. I prefer a wide aperture, but can find nothing wide with IS. Could you please advise if this lens would be good to stabilize video?
pmaddison 1 year ago

Do you recommend this lens for my requirement? or do you think that this lens would be useless with the 17-50 already with me?
droidari 1 year ago
@droidari Hi droidari, thats a difficult one, the gap from 50 to 70mm is really not that huge as well as 15, though being quite wide, is probably not much of a difference over the 17 mm of your 17-50. if you want a walkaround with more reach and a bit more width and then only using the 17-50 when low light or something that makes sense, but other than that i'd decide if you want the wide more than the reach gap and maybe get an UWA like the 10-22 or tokina's models etc.
paradiddleluke 1 year ago
@paradiddleluke Thanks buddy! I have noted the point... so, i am off the idea of getting one of these.... your opinion made the decision a lot easier!
Thank you!

I have read a few cases on this online, does your lens do this?
wowcolors 1 year ago
@wowcolors Yeah I have actually noticed that a bit when I was on a tripod recently, didn't really effect to much for me because I was using shorter shutter speeds, however canon usually does say if you are on a tripod it is never a bad idea to turn IS off. if you are getting a bit of camera shake from pressing the button consider using 2 second, or 10 second shutter delay or using a remote.
paradiddleluke 1 year ago
Hey im just about to buy a 7D and was just wondering since I found a kit with this lens in it instead of the 18-135mm or the 28-135mm would this lens basically replace both of those? I know its obviously a much better lens but will I be able to do everything with it that i could do with those other two kit lenses making it worth the extra cash for the 15-85mm kit?? Thanks man
moviemaker332 1 year ago
@moviemaker332 Pretty much, the 15-85 obviously doesn't reach quite as far as either of those lenses, however its very sharp which makes it very very crop-able if you need to get closer than the zoom can get you. I feel that the Image Quality, sharpness, colors, contrast, etc. of this lens makes it definitely worth the extra cash over those alternate lenses if you have the cash available! it will also give you more of a wide angle then either of those lenses which can help!
paradiddleluke 1 year ago
Your review was very helpful. I've decided to get this lens to replace the 18-55 kit for my T2i. Thank you.

Kiraraa500 1 year ago

I was going to buy the sigma 17-50mm f/2.8 but then the canon 60D does not have ma and i am afraid any problem that might be raised so trying to search for other lenses... thanks!
MsDreamingLife 1 year ago
@MsDreamingLife, shooting on the wide end you can get sharp exposures at close to 1", if you have really steady shots probably even more. as for anything longer than that I would say use a tripod for sure. but if you can get the exposure to 1" and you want a wide view you should be fine, it may take a few shots but the IS here does not disappoint!
paradiddleluke 1 year ago
@paradiddleluke
MsDreamingLife 1 year ago

Your opinion, is it a good match? or is it gonna be a bit too big for the body?
ezizam 1 year ago

WHATS A 1.6 CROP FACTOR??
ChaosRiddenReaper 1 year ago
@ChaosRiddenReaper The long and short of it is that the sensor on a canon 7D, XXD (such as 50D or 40D) or XXXD (or the rebels for the states) have smaller sensors than that of the standard full frame 35mm film body. this is known as a 1.6 crop factor on these cameras meaning the lens you put it on will give you an EFFECTIVE field of view of 1.6 x (the focal length shown on the lens)
the 1D series is 1.3 crop factor. some nikons go 1.5x, the Four-Thirds system goes 2x. each has their perks.

L series UD glass in an EF-S body. Amazing. Cheaper than a 17-55 and just as good.
fatpaws 1 year ago
@fatpaws I will definitely agree with you optically though I've never actually had my hands on the 17-55 2.8... The 17-55 has the constant 2.8 over the 15-85, however as said above that isn't very important to me so the 15-85 with its UD glass is perfect and great quality for me! I love this lens!
paradiddleluke 1 year ago
After I bought, I saw the name was print behind the len, " made in Taiwan" so what you think?? thank
deklaola 1 year ago
@deklaola All of the EF-S lenses are made in Taiwan, not sure why, very very similar factories, probably just a bit cheaper for canon to produce from there. this is completely normal so don't be alarmed! enjoy the lens, its a real treat!
