Does anyone know of the Stockholm syndrome, where hostages after a while in captivity begin exhibiting loyalty to their captors? It would not surprise me to think that Elizabeth psychologically responded this way to her captors. Honestly if people think that Elizabeth was stupid or thought it would be fun to stay with the freak show, how about Shawn Hornbeck who was missing for 5 years and stayed with his captor? First off, Liz may appear to be talking about her experience in a very distant and standoffish way, but considering what she needed to do psychologically to endure, that shouldn't be a surprise. She IS trying to move forward, and therefore told N. Grace she didn't wish to go into detail. And N Grace asked a stupid question anyway "You must have been afraid?" No shit, and I'd give a sideways look as well.

And also, Liz couldn't have understood the prominence of her kidnapping. After all, do you know how many children in this country are kidnapped, yet we hardly ever hear of them? For some reason Liz's kidnapping gained national attention, and that is why she didn't realize how big of a deal it was. That doesn't mean she didn't want to go home, or didn't want to be found. Children also are rather naive-- even at age 14-- so yes, she would have believed her captors and not sought help out of fear.
