went there about 4 years ago... most memorable for the INSANE water slide. Not the straight drop one you see in this video, but the twisty turny one. On my first run I banged my head pretty hard on the last curve, right before you hit the pool. If you deliberately slow yourself down a little, it's great. But its funny seeing first timers at the end, just flying at 100 miles an hour, slamming into the water.
I was born in costa rica and live in the us and every year I go to costa rica this spot raises there prices. It pisses me off cuz my cousins that live and work there don't get to go to these places because it's so expensive for them.
As of February 2011, I paid (through my hotel) $44 for the Baldi "dinner package." Towel deposit still $10, locker fee now $6 (misrepresented as a "key deposit" at desk, but it's a fee).
Do NOT pay for a Baldi dinner package. Do the springs (if you're good with the loud, touristy, party vibe) but don't be fooled into thinking that you'll get anything remotely resembling a nice dinner in a pleasant dining room. It's a vast, college-dining-hall like space with vile cafeteria-style choices. Yuck.
@LnTsMaymay Well, I can see what you're saying, especially since you paid $44.....But we've eaten there a few times,,it's not that bad and being from Vegas, we know buffets. But we only paid $23 for the package and the food was okay, if we paid $44. we'd be pissed too...and actually, you can still do Baldi plus dinner for $23...... it's your hotel that ripped you off.....
@iCostaRica24 Yes, the hotel's price was too high -- but even if I'd paid just $23, the food STILL wouldn't have met a standard I'd consider "okay." Two rices, one plain, one a kind of fried rice so salty I couldn't have more than a couple of bites. Three meat choices -- soggily deep fried chunks sitting and stewing in their own grease in the steam table, boneless chicken breast too tough to chew, and barbecued pieces of fat and bone. I won't even describe the disgusting desserts.
@LnTsMaymay I can tell you,,,,it must have been a bad day or something....the food is usually not that bad. And $23. for the hots springs and a "average" dinner is pretty good overall. You could have at least prefaced your comment with, "not sure if this is how it usually is, but........................"
@LnTsMaymay Thanks for the information. I will be moving down there to live full time in about eleven months, and I'm making it a point to avoid all the Gringo priced attractions, and crowds.

I am tico. Brief but nice review. If you want fun, theme park like this is for you. If you want quiet, romantic go elsewhere. GOOD: nice pools, grounds, trails, fun place! BAD: horrible disgusting food (better eat at Bet-El 2 min down the road, GREAT tico food at tico prices); LOUD music at lower pools, VERY expensive drinks, no snacks, didn't understand the Maya thing its not Costa Rica. Overall a fun place (think teens and kids). $18-25 is OK, bring your own snacks.
@garoto1973 Hey garoto,,,thanx for the comments, but I think you watched our OLD baldi video.... this one we mention just about everything you said.....however, I would disagree about one thing, the food use to be pretty bad,,,,but for around $25. we thought the buffet was pretty good as far as buffets go...... but thanx for the comment and perspective. For more INSIDE info on Baldi hot springs visit my blog: DoingCostaRica blogspot dot com
I remember this jacuzzi I went hyere with Ef tours IT WAS SO FUCKING FUN we did alot of things in costa rica it from from march 8 to the 17 this year. we went monteverde, tortuguero, and san jose. I went to all the jacuzzi's in the hot spring.
you also need to interview more people. not only expats. why don't you interview a tico for a change? ask him for his own perspective of things in that country
Couple things...first, most Tico's we know don't want to be interviewed (we've tried), but more importantly and unfortunately, they would NOT say anything perceived as 'negative' about Costa Rica, so 9 times out of 10 the info would not be accurate....That said, we are planning on going to one of the worst neighborhoods in all San Jose and do a video about the school there.... And besides all that,, we're Travel Info guys,,,,for people that want to visit....

may I suggest you make a video about the real CR? Go to the neighborhoods around San Jose, but not Escazu or San Pedro or Rohrmoser.
