Without a doubt one of the best songs ever. The words, the music and the awesome sax part at the end are all perfect. (All my friends and family know that I want this song played at my funeral). I like the studio version of the sax part better, but Candy does a great job also/
I was listening to this on my ipod whilst my daughter was in her ballet lesson and began to cry. I couldn't stop myself and some of the mums thought I was a bit weird I think. Then one of the ladies asked what I was listening to. I told her Old and Wise by APP and she said "yeah it gets me that way too" This is the song I will have at my funeral....
I have put a request in my Will to have this song played at my funeral... a bit morbid of me I know but can anyone think of a better piece of music to honour life and friends....? It's just simply a fabulous song.....
@vinyl2k8 That is the worst thing someone could ever do with this song, in that version it has completely lost its value. I think it's absolutely disgusting!
Thanks for posting this Carlos - I just love this song & the music really gets me, but does anybody know who the guesting brass section are please? As for Mick Mullins - I'm not very familiar with him but I'd like to be!
Simply wonderful. Great performance. Mick Mullins sings almost like the original singer. I have injoyed this video almost every day, and never has been enough to me.
Thanks Carlos, it is simply great. And the solo is equally wonderful.
This is beautiful! I had never heard of Mick Mullins until I came across him singing this and Eye in the Sky at the same event. I can't understand why there isn't more material about with him singing solo - pity, because I think he's really good.
Filmed in Holland in the mid 90's sung I believe by Mick Mullins who is/was one of Cliff Richards backing singers, Original singer was Colin Blunstone (studio version) Sax by Hollands own Candy Dulfer! stunning...........
@harleywarbird The concert was called world liberty concert. this was cause holland was liberated 50 years. my parents went to the concert. they did also eye in the sky. they videotaped the whole concert when it was on the telly. i watched it thousands of times. i could playback the whole tape. awesome concert it was. one of the most best concerts holland organized back in the days.
This is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful songs in the history of modern music. Everything fits perfectly. The musicians, the performance, by the way, I see it is Candy Dulfer the girl playing the saxophone!! Where was the concert held? I attended one of Parson's concert here in Chile, but it was long back in time, in 1995, actually. Is the concert available in dvd? Thanks for sharing this treasure.!!!
@MultiEllie1 I think it is because this kind of music is too difficult to understand nowadays. I totally agree with you when you say that today's music is shit. In fact, it isn't music at all. I don't know if in UK young people listen to "reggaeton". In my country most teenagers listen to that "audiopoison". Ehhh!!!! you like Al Stewart, too!!!! I keep listening to his very best album (should I say LP?) Do you like the song "One stage before"?
Wow.... this is a gorgeous version of a gorgeous song. I love the orchestra. It's just chilling. And the sax solo is THRILLING. Next to the original studio version, this is now my favorite. Thank you for posting this!!!
Colin Blunstone's original version was probably one of the most incredible songs I've ever heard.
This one is very good thought. He tries to sound like Colin, and almost made it. Yet he shouldn't smile that much at the beggining of the song. That's annoying on this song.
@DASTARDLYWALLACE - Yeah, the early '80s were pretty cool and every Alan Parsons Project album from '79 until late '84 was killer, although I truly didn't appreciate their music until about 1985 or so.
@vmcomsource The sax player is Candi Dulfer, probably the best female sax player in the world. The singer was not Alan Parsons regular lead singer, but he did an awesome job at this concert......I forget his name.
Does it get any better?

The saxaphone is played by Candy Dulfer, who hails from Holland.
She also featured with Pink Floyd at Glastonbury
She was immortalised by Prince when he sang "when I want sax, I send for Candy"
