  • lol I think the piano should explode at the end - or at least some fireworks . . . .

  • i watch this before i practice ^^

  • Lang Lang you were invited to perform in the White House - you selected an anti-american piece - calling America (Jackals.) Why did you do it. Why? I am so insulted by your action. Our whole family love you. We are first generation Asian Americans- I micro waved and tossed it.

  • Very Very Very Beautiful Hardest Music I Love I Gave Paw Up Greetings

  • Fuck off Lang Lang

  • @joseph10132 how jealous can one person get :/

  • Martha Argerich's performance seems much clearer and expressive to me.

  • For those who prefer Liszt piano music to be played slowly, that is not in the style of the romantic era.Liszt himself was a showman, not a total bore, and I am delighted that Lang Lang (along with Horowitz) fully realizes that.

  • lang lang is stupendous.A natural genius.

  • @789armstrong a lot of people will never understand it. they are too busy watching his face during the performance and so they loose his talent. i heard him live in naples and i will again in april, and i can't wait for it.

  • ever heard that litszt himself also had quite a lot of wild body movements and facial expressiosn in his recitals?

  • @TheDardanius did he showoff on some of the greatest masterpieces of all time by playing it fast and finishing it within 15 seconds?

  • @2pacAmazesSuperman i agree he showed off.

but that doesnt mean its bad or sth

its maybe not what it is supposed to be, but i have to admit he is skillful

    dont u?

  • @TheDardanius i know people that are about as good as him and im pretty good and i know how hard these pieces are so no i dont think hes that skillful

  • @2pacAmazesSuperman ok ok....

    one question though:

if hes just "normal", why is he more populaor (or notorous) than others and why are his concerts sold out each time which is not often happening with other "skillful" pianists?

not that i want to say hes the best, but he is better than normal.

  • @TheDardanius i didnt say he was normal i just meant hes overrated

  • @2pacAmazesSuperman Bollocks he is overated. You can't do even a 100th of what he can. so unitl you can I suggest you practice and come back in 1000 years when you might do?

  • Every time I watch Lang Lang he puts me OFF practicing. Not watching him anymore the stupid twat.

  • honestly, i'd really like to see what those faces are like when their fingers and arms approching this kinda speed whom always concerned about "facial expression", more likely to be like having shit. You don't like it, don't watch it, that simple. You guys won't be satisfied even watching Liszt himself playing it.

  • the fat on his face jiggles when he makes those faces

  • vladimir is top 3 pianists of all time and he didnt make stupid faces and try to show off by playing insanely fast like after 0:44

  • i love how much energy and passion he puts into the piece

  • bobblehead

  • The engery he plays it with is amazing

  • Comment removed

  • really good i like it so much :D

  • he is a genius. No one make faces like him...so...he is feeling something that nobody can feel.

    (sarcasm)

  • @drebubbles roflmao.

  • @sunamiassault you just got told who's boss :/ "roflmao" isn't an argument ^^

  • @mcrettable i dont get what youre saying. he made a good sarcastic joke and i laughed at it. i wasn't trying to make a argument.

  • @drebubbles that's not sarcasm.. you're just scared to go against the general populous :/

  • disgusting face - -!!!

  • That was embarrassing, a bit too much really.

Sorry Lang Lang, not a fan of this one.

  • This is an unusual performance of Lang Lang: it sounds even worse than it looks, while usually it's the other way round. Now the old saying "just close your eyes if you don't like his facial expressions" doesn't apply anymore. Does anyone know when this was recorded?

  • Well, the song "All By Myself" is credited to Rachmaninoff for the melody so . . . This is awesome.

  • Best version ever! I love the roaring bass! It was so interesting to listen to... Liszt would be proud...

  • maldita loca tan trabada.

  • Say what you wish about Lang Lang, but you all know very well that he is a great pianist-- much better than any of you could ever hope to be. And since when did classical music demand a rigid, passive, and humble performance style? It seems like, to me, that that is our main misconception of classical music... that is has to be played perfectly as it's written by a cultured and reserved elitist for cultured, reserved elitists. Anyone who is human can enjoy this performance. Get over yourselves.

  • @983215ljhlkadbspig6y actually, ur kinda wrong about most of that...other than that, no comment

  • @audreyhsux5727 That's... useful. You're wrong about me being wrong, all of it, other than that, I can't say much-- except, if you took away the video of the "absurd" Lang Lang performances, leaving just the music, you would have no idea that he was performing it "wrong". The written music, on paper, is where most of the focus should be placed, with regard to classical music. A performance can never ruin, or even enhance, the genius contained within the written, naked music.

  • @983215ljhlkadbspig6y first of all, u dont know about me...secondly, i never said i didnt like his music, just not this particular one...if u can READ, then read my comment below...i think he isnt the best, but he isnt bad. those who think hes bad r just jealous.

  • Can Lang Lang put alittle yen in his yang without people hating on him? For all we know Liszt himself could have had this same type of showmenship when he preformed. Read about his approch when he toured. He made facual expressions, wild body movements which brought the house down. And that was back in the 1800's. Can't the student emulate the teacher just alittle?

  • @audreyhsux5727 HE IS NOT A PIANIST; LIKE YUNDI LI: THEY AREN´T PIANISTS

  • SHIT, A BIG SHIT, CZIFFRA WAS A GENIOUS BUT THIS PERSON IS NOT A PIANIST

  • @joseodelot hes good as well a lot of people just criticize him like that...hes pretty good but not this particular one

  • His name is BANG BANG

  • listen martha argerich and the we can speak about this

  • Comment removed

  • you must either be veeeeeeeery talented to get as good as him in 20 years or train 1000 years all night long.

  • @KitsunerJP be talented doesn't mean you're a true musician

  • how the hell does this have dislikes? that was fucking amazing, and all the bitches that disliked it are just jealous that they cant make beautiful and amazing mucis like that.

  • Unglaublich virtuos. Wer wollte ihm das nachmachen? - Trotzdem höre ich ihn hier nicht gern! Das Stück spult sich nur so ab. Cziffra (nicht ganz so virtuos) höre ich lieber!

  • It sounds like a sowing machine

  • Good technique, but like other performances of his their is no connection with the music.. sloppy. The octaves in the just before the Coda are aweful, and the repeated chords in the Coda are uneven. Sorry Lang Lang, you need to do better to impress real musicians, don't be lazy.

  • a little ostentatious aren't we?

  • 0:18 0:26

    とにかく連打する時の残像がすごい。

  • Amazing technique

    Disgusting sound

  • bravo! amazing show!

  • YOU CAN NOT,SHOULD NOT OR WILL NOT COMPARE THIS GUY WITH CZIFFRA EVER , GET A GRIP!...

  • awesome!

  • did the piano survive?

And, he is clearly playing this to entertain that crowd. He has no musical concerns, so it would be unfair to say that he destroyed the piece.

  • he indeed ruined the music

  • sounds like a bull fight

  • I dont like tjis circus!! and i gess many people dont too! or i HOPE many people dont!

  • asians kinda destroy classical music

  • @Noximify Oi, shut up.

  • @TripleRhu dude, just look at this, they all do the same, stupid expressions on the face, weird movements, fucking RAPING their instruments and play really fast, that's all they do, yeah it's racist but after seeing some asians play, you gotta admit that there's a little bit truth behind my comment

  • @Noximify I'm an Asian, and i think Lang Lang is just a total piece of shit with skills only. Don't think all Asians are the fucking same. Are all Europeans or Americans the same?

  • Comment removed

  • @Noximify

please play piano as well as you can, and then you can say this! I hope you are really pianist! but I think almost really can not say as you say! I really want to see you or have a meet you, listen you play music or play piano, I will find your different way or good piano skill, Can you??????? Please tell me what kind of piano piece you study? I am very wonder that?

  • @kaka3712 Sorry but I completely agree with him...Its sad that it sounds racistic, but its actually true. The sound he made was just plain horrible.

A 15 years old pianist may have an undeveloped technique, but can still play it with much more passion than Lang Lang and make it sound good.

  • @BlazeKenny

ha! some times I agree your thinking! But we must understand one thing, sometimes pianist must play music to

    pander to audience.

  • @kaka3712 Older audience would most likely be experienced and listen to his horrible sound

Young and teen audiences would say his movements are gay (nothing against his expressions, Trifonov also has such expressions and he plays great)

  • @Noximify please play piano as well as you can, and then you can say this! I hope you are really pianist! but I think almost really pianist can not say as you say! I really want to see you or have a meet with you, listen you play music or play piano, I will find your different way or good piano skill, Can you??????? Please tell me what kind of piano piece you study? I am very wonder that?

  • a virtuoso indeed,

    but poor intonation,and your touch,

when you play the piano - it is not about you

but it is about the music and letting the music come out.

  • So true. Well said. I hope Lang Lang read your comment, for his sake.

  • Lang Lang you've literally destroyed Liszt's soul!

  • Tigertolyy the only pianist that dominates this piece Vladimir Horowitz.

  • What? at 0:44 he hits the keys! That is no way to play piano. I understand if you play loudly, but I think that's just ridiculous. I also hates how he make weird faces I understand he is trying to express his playing but he gets to the point where he just looks ridiculous and unprofessional.

Im sure he is a great person, but a bad pianist. I'm sorry, that's my opinion on him.

If you want to listen to some true pianists especially listen to Valentina Lisitsa or Martha Argerich they are the best

  • hungarian sodomy No 6 ?

  • @Botchlae I lol'd

But it's kind of unfair comparing this performance to Cziffra's. He played this in front of classically-retarded people, and Cziffra was doing a studio performance.

Lang Lang has a new album called Liszt, My Piano Hero and his No.6 on there is very controlled, I like it. But warning to fans: Lang Lang's Rakoczy March was total SHIT. I like Volodos' better.

  • @TehIshter cziffra ?

  • Stick with number 2

  • Ladies and Gentleman ! You have seen Rhapsody Chinese No6

    (with fantastic technical ability )

  • easy

    medium

    modorate hard

    expert

    Lang Lang

    Cziffira

    Horowitz

    Liszt

    Alkan

  • holy shishkabob!!!!!!!!!

  • way to shit on Liszt at :44

  • @JeremysBugles

Hahahhaaha having read your comment before reaching 0:44 I was excited to see what would happen LOL

Hahahahahahahahaa I laughed my fucking ass off, this performance clearly brings a new level of meaning to his nickname Bang Bang.

  • 0:44 Goodbye tempo!!

  • Si lang lang est pas mort, il est au bon endroit les doits dans le caca.

  • he looks so........ FIRED UP '.'

  • I think Steinway should hire him to do crash tests for their pianos.

  • this is awesome!!!!!!

  • trololololololololoololololololoolololololololololololololololololololo i like the energy... thats all i'll give him

  • Whoever said this was BANG BANG , not LANG LANG was quite right .

  • Why did you just upload the last minute of the piece? It has 7 minutes. It is a shame to rip it apart whoever performs it. Why are people so often only uploading the enormous noice Lang produces? Let us hear whether or not he is able to play the delicate and the sensitive.

  • AND STILL not as fast as Cziffra ;)

  • I'm not much of a Lang Lang fan mostly because of how disgusting he looks when playing. However, a few comments have made a solid point about the sound being the most important aspect of any performance. Thus, I must admit, his sound is much prettier than his looks.

  • Superb technique, zero understanding of what he plays.

  • Simply put, he's done an excellent job. His performance has much stronger appeal than for example Cziffra's, if only this excerpt is concerned, hitting closer to the core spirit of Gypsy music. I feel he expresses him much better in such a short piece of virtuoso on such a relaxed occasion, rather than formal collaboration with other musicians in a recording studio. That's some other challenge he might have to face, but there's absolutely no such problem at all HERE!

  • except HOROWITZ, no one can faster than he

  • @inselgruppe Alexei Grynyuk.

  • 超酷

  • If you want to criticize his playing, don't talk about the gestures. Criticize about what you hear, what you think it's wrong about his playing. To be honest, I like his interpretation, it is very powerful (and you don't need to watch the video to hear that)

  • Impressive and he even does the offbeat accents but why such a big show with the facial expressions and body movements? Don't tell me this is anything but part of an act to attract non-musical interested persons.

  • I admire the way someone who has mastered their craft to such an extent that when they play such as Lang Lang has demonstrated here that they seem to have so much passion flowing through them which the audience feels aswell.

  • Did anyone else start laughing uncontrolably from 0:44 on? He is definetly the most entertaining pianist to watch, I mean look as his smile at the end, He's having fun! people shouldn't be so harsh.

  • OH SHIT!!!!!

  • Okay, who's going to be the first hater to say they can do this?

  • 1:04 = "5,000,000 POINTS!!! TIME BONUS!!!"

  • He's so in love with himself. Unfortunately, I do not share his opinion. As the great Earl Wild put is, Lang Lang is the J. Lo of classical piano.

  • LL is incredibly gifted.but he sold hi soul to the highest bidder..sony classical..shame on all the marketing guys...fuck them

  • Simply revolting. Wonderful fingers, maybe the best in the world, but this young man has no respect for music, he just want to show off how fast and loud he can be.

In order to do so he butchers this piece of music mercilessly. He's not playing music, he's just doing a circus act.

  • @gregorianchant100 I couldn't have said it better!

  • LANG LANG IS AWESOME. period. forget all the haters. he dominates!!!!! haha maybe not the best ever. not saying he is. but he is awesome. and way better than all the haters combined.

  • @tigertolyy hes not even playing it right

  • @TripleRhu:Can u????

  • He is killing the piano!!! Just look at his face (no, not face, grimace) at 0:42 and till the end.

  • I just remembered an ABS training video at 0:42 ROFL!

  • um... something to say here

see that EBS thingy? it stands for Educational Broadcasting System.

    fail?

  • Thanks god Liszt is not alive. otherwise he would kill him!!! and please don't compare him with great pianists like Horowitz!!! So pathetic. !!!

  • Comment removed

  • Very much like Harowitz in my opinion

  • at 0:40, cziffra is WAAYYYY faster

  • @TripleRhu How can you even compare this guy to CZIFFRA man

  • @runeweb oh

  • Comment removed

  • @runeweb His technique is absolutely at that level. Cziffra is a showman too. He had the most brilliant piano technique ever, however, we all know he didn't concern much about the depth of the pieces. At that time he was a very controversial pianist. Many people thought he was too show-off. Similarly to langlang, maybe you don't know how much pain has langlang put into piano. Google it. I agree that langlang can never compare with Horowitz. But he has catched up with Cziffra absolutely.

  • @90Lyka I don't really agree with you... When you look at some of Cziffra's improvisations, transcriptions like the Sabre Dance, William Tell Overture etc, you see Cziffra has really pushed himself to the limit on the aspect of piano technique, though sometimes he might be hindered by human limitaions. While Lang Lang, much of his performances sticks to the original score and does not have his own style, and only tried to impress the audience by his technique.

  • @90Lyka What I mean is Cziffra has established himself as a virtuoso pianist /showman, but Lang Lang, I think more of a wannabe.

  • @runeweb because lang lang plays it in his own style...cziffra at least has the liszt in it

  • @audreyhsux5727 you call this a "style"??

  • @petrof4056 ughh...sorry 2 u lang lang fans, but lang lang playing this is just too much...other pieces-maybe, but this particular video i dont like

  • @runeweb i can tell u dont know anything about music by the way u talk-liszt isnt about making a hungarian rhapsody sound like katie perry...thats way you cant compare lang lang with cziffra...ur right. cziffras too good for his way of playing

  • Liszt is the perfect opponent for Lang Lang

  • Where is the "I hate Lang Lang button"?

  • this isnt how liszt wrote it. that small pathetic man.

  • omg, i feel sorry for the piano.

  • For anyone that actually thinks that he has done a good job on this, I want to share one point. There is a major difference between playing this piece with a flashy, brilliant, sound like Martha Argerich, Horowitz, and Cziffra and just banging the shit out the piano and suffering seizures like Lang-Lang is doing here.

  • I simply love lang lang's mad way of playing piano, simply puts him above all these boring pianists of these days

  • UNACCEPTABLE APPEARANCE

  • Interesting. I actually prefer the Horowitz version, he has fire but it's under control. Still, Lang Lang kicks ass on this tune.

  • @kwongin

Hi, this is exactly what I was thinking. However, my feeling is that Horowitz famous, unreached RCA version is amoung the very few Horowitz records which fits to that statement. don't like Lang Lang so much, but that video shows why he is potentially interesting.

  • @cantkeepitin Thanks for your comment. The tension and step-like demonic melody brought out by Horowitz in this rhapsody at a certain point was what really made it special for me. I know and appreciate various people's misgivings to a lot of Horowitz playing but for me at leastm he had a special gift at drawing out themes. No one else could do it, while at the same time controlling touch and color so well. Lang lang is just noise in comparison to be honest - no disrespect he has skills/

  • @cantkeepitin have you seen the liszt Schubert valse by Horowitz here on youtube. That another good example of Horowitz doing well. Again, thanks for your reply:)

  • Why did he jump to the lowest octave B? That sounds just horrible.

  • Comment removed

  • i hated this, it's horrible sounds horrible, it's crazy and without feelings the mos horrible such a waste of time to have seen this shit

  • ELECTRIC CHAIR

  • Cinesino di merda!!!! COSA DAREI PER DARGLI DUE SCHIAFFI!........

  • Did he jump his hand to the last b flat octave in the last passage (the last variation) all the time he played???

  • Yes he jumps his hand to the lowest B octave,,

And yes all the time he played...he's crazy you know:)

  • @pianistnatseth Yeah, that's what liszt wrote. It's eight notes, from a b flat octave in the bass to a b flat major/f7 chord.

  • LOLLLL

dude from 0:45 on i couldn't stop laughing XD

the piece gets slaughtered sooooo baaad

  • Boo BOO boo BOO boo, and that I say BOOOO, especially at 00:19. Bang Bang is a nickname that truly fits him.

Truly the epitome of the deterioration of virtuoso piano, what a joker.

  • Liszt was also a show-off. It's perfect.

  • Liszt could do whatever he wants because he was the composer. Lang Lang still butchers this piece.

  • Sure.

Also. A father can abuse his child because it's his child. But if it's a stranger that abuses a child, then it's offensive and enraging.

Yeah. Let's go with your logic.

  • @TheIshter He was a show-off.

But do you call what he has done a show-off?

    He killed the piano

  • wtf, TOO extreme, even for this piece

  • this is hilarious!!! ohh man ahahahahahah loll no other comment...
