Is the EHX metal muff compatible with the one spot adapter? I looked on the site and in the compatibility chard it said that it was compatible with a number of EHX pedals but it didn't actually list the MM so I'm not sure. It also said:
Holier Grail, Frequency Analyzer, MicroSynth, Q-Tron, Tube pedals – not compatible
Basically, if the pedal can take a 9V battery, the 1 Spot will power it. Of course it can power other things too. I check on the EHX site and found that the Metal Muff is 9V and has the standard type of power jack, so the 1 Spot should work fine with it.
Wow Ive been wondering what the heck was going on with my pedals. I am getting the exact same sound (helicopter sound) from my Godlyke power all. I guess its time to buy a new power source...maybe the 1 spot or a DC Brick?
It was the Powerall that was so noisey, not the 1 Spot. But if you're talking about the noise from the overdrive pedals, yes, a noise gate will take care of that. A noise gate will not help Powerall noise, because that's coming through the ground which is shared by guitar signal and the power supply.
i have a boss od20 will the 1 spot beable to power that because it take 6a4 batteries not a 9v one.and also i live in england so i dont have the american style plug here we have a 3 point one would it be harmfull if i used an adapter (american to english plug) or will it create extra noise?
I think the 1 Spot should be able to handle that because that pedal (like most Boss stuff) can take a 9VDC adapter. I'm pretty sure that VS makes a Brit version of the 1 Spot, BTW, so you shouldn't even need a converter plug. Voltage-wise, it doesn't matter as the 1 Spot can take any input voltage, just like laptop adapters.
guys, im using the one spot for a couple of pedals now, but i see few stuffs e.g. the T-rex fuel tank that look like bigger. What the difference between this king of power supply and the simple n nice one plug 1 SPOT?
According to the T-Rex website, the Fuel Tank has:
• eight 9-volt DC output plugs, all sharing the same ground. Giving a total of 500 mA
• one 12-volt DC output with isolated ground, giving 500 mA
• one 12-volt AC output with isolated ground, giving 500 mA
...and it's $200! So, you get 500mA max (not isolated) for 9VDC pedals (the 1 Spot does up to 1700mA) and you get a couple of 12V outputs, AC and DC. That's a lot to spend for a couple of 12V outputs, IMO.
If the six 9V pedals are 9V DC (they can use a battery), then yes, you can hook them all plus a DL4 up to a 1 Spot and it shouldn't have any issues... I've done it lots of times, as have many people I know.
Hey, is it ok to use the 1 spot with a crybaby? i know they use an 18-volt adapter, but is working perfectly fine with 1spot. any help would be appreciated. thanks.
Hey, I;m using my 1spot to power up my crybaby, i know that this pedal needs an 18-volt ac adapter, but is working fine with the 1spot. is this ok to do? or should i get an adapter just for this crybaby?
The regular Crybaby's use a 9V battery, so the 1 Spot works fine with them. If you have one of the Crybaby's that uses the 18VDC adapter (ECB-04 adapter if Google is right), then the 1 Spot would probably still work, but maybe with not as much clean headroom. But hey, if you still like the sound, don't worry about it... you're not going to hurt the pedal by giving it "not enough" voltage.
No, it only does 9v DC. However, the Line 6 DL4 says it uses 9v AC, but it uses batteries too and all batteries are DC. I guess that's why the 1 Spot can power it.
The easiest way to know if your pedal will work with a 1 Spot is if it takes batteries. If it does, you're good to go. I don't think any of the Whammy pedals take batteries, but I know there have been several versions of it, so I might be wrong about one of them. I'm almost positive the Whammy 2 is AC only, meaning you need to use the power supply that came with it.
I think it's because you've got digital pedals in your chain, like the Line 6. Those are best isolated with their own power, then you get no noise. Best not to mix digital pedal with analogs in the same power source.
Actually, I've mixed digital and analog pedals without a problem, but there are some digital pedals that don't get along with any other pedals... like the Line 6 Tone Core pedals.
I did a bunch of testing when I made this video, and I found that the PowerAll gets noisier the more power is being used... so, the more pedals you add, even if they're analog, the noisier it gets.
It will work with just about anything that's 9V DC. It doesn't work with my old Whammy pedal, but that pedal uses a 9V AC power supply, not DC. Basically, if the pedal can use a 9V battery, the 1 Spot will power it.
hey man great demonstration... ijust bought the 1spot and i think its an awsome thing worth of buying.... i think ill just get a noise supressor and that will solve the pedal noise... =)
nice review! thanks!

how many pedals at once can it power?
kylemuirr 4 months ago
I've heard that it could power dozens at once if you had enough daisy-chain cables... and enough pedals!

And why should it matter how "beefy" the cable is? I don't think the electrons give a shit about how "beefy" the cable is.
GrahamYoungGuitar 11 months ago
The electrons don't care, but you might care after someone rolls a 4x12 over it.

will the "HUM" will be reduced if i use the 1spot?
toshkie 1 year ago
As compared to the Powerall, definitely. Of course you can still get hum from single coil pickups, ground loops, bad wiring in your house, etc...

I'm getting the 1spot..thanks for the review. i Like

Does a noise gate get rid of the sound? or because the noise gate is connected to the 1 spot it would still have noise.

Anything that takes a 9V battery, and a few other things like the DL4.

hey the 1spot adaptor is 2 pin or 3 pin?
electricguitar 2 years ago
2 pin, like most 9V adapters.

both!
there are 3 version:
-american (2 pins)
-UK (uk connection)
-Australian (aus connection)

A friend of mine in Germany has a European 1 Spot with the 2 round pins, so I guess they have 4 versions.

I've found that noise gates don't normally get rid of power supply noise. They're just good at getting rid of the white noise from pedals.
