I Love The Video It Can Increase My Knowledge an engineer's best friend Learn how to measure resistance, voltage, current as well as test continuity using the Swiss Army knife of electronics
Good, I like that you share this video, I wish success always Learn how to measure resistance, voltage, current as well as test continuity using the Swiss Army knife of electronics.
I just had a job interview where they asked me how to operate the Fluke multimeter. The day before I reviewed this video and aced the interview. They even tested me on how to take readings on a resistor. Thanks man!!!!!
I think I would really like to see you do a video how to make a multi-meter. Eddy current material testing instruments would great as well. From there perhaps a CRT and a Digital oscilloscope could be done so that the next project of making a ultrasonic testing instrument could be done with a display. Perhaps I missed something, and you have already done articles on these projects?
I am just setting out to make these instruments myself, and I want to do it from the ground up.
Fine then, but its not what the world needs to know about! I want you to make me a gadget that will set the TV volume in a specific range where it magnifies whispers so that I can hear them, and dampens loud stuff (like screaming commercials!). I want it and I want it NOW! Couch Potatoes of America will give you the Nobel!
@uptilwhen Its easy to make a Flux capacitor, all you need is an inductor and a capacitor. This creates a tuned LC circuit that stores energy that is oscillating at its resonant frequency. This is particularly useful in applications such as amplifiers, filters, RFID and time travel. So you can thank Doc Brown for inventing one of the best circuits in existence.
@legomaniac150 Well, I'll defer to your superior level of knowledge. Tuned circuits sound like lots of fun. I must learn more I must learn more I must learn more..... ;)
Fwiw, measuring a battery's voltage does not necessarily indicate that it's "definitely usable."
Batteries must be checked "under load" so a special battery tester (which many meters have these days) must be used.
I'm just getting back into electronics after a many (many!) year absence, and other than this little nitpick, this was a useful refresher course for me; thanks!
Well, one last thing. Personally, I wouldn't touch the live circuit when measuring current ...
@canuckscottsmen A Fluke meter is really nice, but there are many others on the market for fair prices that will do you justice. I have a basic manual ranging multimeter that has a happy home on my workbench. If you really want a Fluke, keep an eye on EvilBay and be patient. I got am $800 Metcal soldering iron for $300 a while ago.
I lked the way you tested current by holding your finger on the opened wires. A new student would be like"Ok ok I just need to hold these two together....ZAP ... na nope no never messing with that again."lol
Another great feature to a common multimeter would be one which can test current (amps) with a clamp. A clamp on meter is very useful, because there is absolutely no physical contact with electrical wiring and no need to worry about potential shock.
Damn, The subject I love but I don't like the teacher and the difficulty of it that is PHYSIC & this is a needed tool for school experiments but too bad that schools just doesn't feel what we want!
@dummerbube You only should have explained it with the manual multimeter since the most viewers wouldn't buy one of those expensive automatic-settings-multimeters...
Dang, that meter even lights up to tell you where the probes should go! You kind of eluded to it didn't really come right out and say that resistance and current can't be measured without breaking the circuit. (Something you really wouldn't want to do if the circuit is already soldered together.) Other than that it's really good!
Colin you are my hero. My only question is WHY didn't you have this uploaded a day prior? Now I got to go dig through frozen trash to get my circuit back lol!
@lodevijk ProTek is actually one of the more reasonable mid-to-high end DMM manufacturers on the market and the 6300 model is only about $80 online. That is when I reach for the Cen-Tek. It is the lowest of the low end. It will work, but you might not get super-accurate results. Happy Hardware Hacking!
