  • The spider isn't dead...it's been paralyzed by the wasp. The wasp is taking it to her nest to lay her eggs and the eggs live off the spider. Trapdoor spiders do the same thing.

  • I've been stung by these things five times over the years (I hike a lot) and let me tell you, it's no joke. It feels like you've been shot or stabbed and the pain lasts for a week. Each time it gets worse, and by the fifth I had to call in sick. The only reason I can think of why they'd want to sting me is that I may not have seen them with their prey and stepped on or near it enough to piss them off. Late summer and early fall is when they're active and I've learned to watch out then. Ouch.

  • She's not going to eat it, she's going to lay her egg in it, the larvae feed on the body!

  • why the **** didn't you help him???

  • The first time I saw a wasp doing this he was carrying the spider straight up the very high back of my house. I thought it was crazy! I did not know this was a regular occurrence until just now. SO cool!

  • and haha your commentary is awesome when the beatle comes back :D

  • thats cool, we dont have these in alaska, along with every other cool insect, so its cool to see stuff liek this.

  • looks like Tachypompilus unicolor... hard to be sure.

  • you're so amazing for putting this up

  • haha that daddy long leg was like damnit u broke my web when the wasp pulled the spider in

  • Nice video! Thanks for taking the time to make it, it was interesting :D

  • Interesting video, however I HATE bees of any kind, but I like Tarantulas. That spider looked like one. I have 9 Tarantulas as pets, so I would have killed that wasp in a heartbeat! The spider was not dead, it gets eaten alive. Basically the same way spiders eat their prey. They inject venom into their prey and eat it alive. Had the spider been rescued, and put in a tank of some sort, it would have recovered. :)

  • awsome video man!!!! thats why is good to have a vid cam wherever you go hahahahaha!!! just awsome man!

  • they lay there eggs in the spider after its paralyzed then the eggs hatch and eat the spider from the inside out while its still alive, nice huh. just some info. cool vid tho.

  • That is awesome! It was really cool of you to record the video too. :D

  • that was cool.wasp lays eggs in spider. thats new.

  • lol

normal people woulda beat the shit outa both the spider n the wasp =p

    i know i woulda lol

  • yes that's because your a reatard that has no respect for other life and who doesn't realise without simple creatures like spiders and wasps maintaining the food chain, you would probably cease to exist..

  • OMG thats scary!!

  • lawl... at the end...

    "Damn... Now what?"

    What a huge adventure...

  • I had seen one of these crossing a road once doing the same thing with a slightly smaller spider. Very interesting stuff. Thank you for the video! Very cool stuff.

  • that looks like maybe pepsis thisbe? they are called spider wasps, maybe that one is the tarantula hawk. pepsis thisbe, pepsis formosa, episyron rufipes, those are some species that i know of but i'm no bug expert.

  • Sometimes they get lucky and die, but usually they're just paralyzed.

  • lol that musta sucked for the spider

  • that was cool. thanks!

  • Wish I had the energy of that Wasp, lol.

  • Icky icky icky. But really awesome video, and the wasp incapacitated the spider, it's not dead until it has been eaten. Wasps hold venom in their stingers, that's why our arms blow up when we get stung.

  • what the fuck are all you bastards talking about. THE WASP IS THE ENEMY!!! IT WILL STING YOU THE SECOND IT SEES YOU! WERE ON THE OFFENSIVE! if i ever see that wasp i will first headshot it then empregnate his mother

  • wow that spider look like a facehugger from alien :D

  • sure does look like a face hugger

  • thats totally awesome and that was great commentary too, hahaha!

  • and its sweet it sounds like you have very supportive critter lover partner as well! LOL!

  • hey! thats cool! where do you live? are these wasps common in your area?

mind sending some here!? and share them!! LOL!

  • Its not a he, it's a she dum dum!

  • Looks like a wolf spider (family Lycosidae), but I'm not sure about the wasp, there are many species, among these the giant Pepsis wasp, which you DON'T want to get stung by! Much worse than the tarantulas it paralyzes...

  • Lol nice.

  • Wow what a trooper! Awsome video!

  • that is a BIG spider...That is a BIG wasp!!

  • Friggin' sweet vid. Bugs rock.
