@oldrocker74 I'm in high school now and the only one of those books I haven't read is A Brave New World, which I plan on picking up at the library, I think it would be awesome if we read those in school, they could probably fit in a civics class actually with their themes and stuff, in fact I realize my school has very little required reading, and nothing like those classics. Shame.

@oldrocker74 where did u get this notion that the books you listed are banned. I am an English teacher and as far as I know they are not banned. They are just not required reading. Instead, we give students a list of recommended books and let the students choose what they want to read. And from all the lists I know, every book u named are on that list.

What are you talking about?! I had to read "Animal Farm" TWICE. I'm required to read "1984" and "A Brave New World" right now. While not in my High School, I know "Catcher in the Rye" and "A Clockwork Orange" are still required reading at several other schools, as confirmed by my friends in those schools.

But I've always loved these sorts of books and wish other kids my age were forced to at least read them ONCE. I mean, a child could understand Animal Farm you know?
