Street Fighter 4 - Blanka Basics Tutorial

Hi DSP, so I've never played an SF game and this is my first one. Just started playing yesterday and decided on Blanka as my first character.

I'm playing on a 3DS. I've noticed that the charge for moved such as the Rolling Attack is almost 2 seconds. Is this normal, or am I doing something wrong? In a fast paced game having a charge time that long seems kinda useless >.>

@GreaterAnticipation lol you're supposed to charge while doing everything, even hitting them with normals. Then you unleash your charge move in your combo. you can literally charge doing anything. So if you don't like it I'd suggest using someone that has actual moves like Ryu lol.

my blanka game has become pretty sick. I guess my only problem is completing that 5hit combo. jumping m kick lk lk lp ball. It always fails to chain to 5... i don't get it. Is it because i'm not using the stick and a xbox control

@ybl12 the hop forward is done by 3 kicks + forward , so if we assume ur charging and u did that hop, the first charge back forward motion is registered to be done all u have to do is another back-forward motion + 3 punches and ur done

The easy way for me to win with Blanka is use primarily electric thunder and keep sharp reflexes so you can use electric thunder every time they try to psych you out

Actually you WANT to use the slide from a good far distance (enough for the fingers to touch) -- that MINIMIZES the punishes that Blank can be subjected to. If you decide to use the df+fp slide from close ("meaty") distance, and its blocked, then you're quite fucked. :)

Great video, though I have some strategies of my own: I tend to use the rainbow ball more often then the up-down ball for anti-air, as Blanka is a great hit-and-run character: get in there, do a quick combo and run back out. you can. also, use the LK rainbow ball to hop over spammed fireballs to get into the right position to do that slide attack if you're way on the far side of the screen.

Same way you do any other EX attack. Do the special, and press two of the related attack buttons (in this case, two kick buttons, doesn't matter which).

You missed the Coward Crouch, one of his best defensive moves. My fav tactic is to go far away from a spammer, then as son as they throw a fireball, I use the CC to duck under the fireball, then FDash straight after it and before they get to throw another, I use the Slide to take them out.
