Ozzy and Alice are father and mother for every rocker and metalhead. Only difference: Alice never fucked up his rep and legend by producing a shitty soap for MTV!
I own every single song that Alice ever did and can say: he never produced a weak album in his career - even DaDa and Flush the Fashion were strong and pretty unique.
@YautjaDB well that was more or less before alice cooper's time really. Ever heard of "offshore radio stations"? They used to broadcast rock music on the radio from boats so they wouldn't get arrested. :]
@Shaggyshadric I have heard of off shore radio stations but i had no idea! LOL, the lengths people will go to just to hear and broadcast good music. Good on 'em :) Have you heard of radio stations barracading themselves in just to play cool music?
@Shaggyshadric Cool, i'll keep an eye out for it thanks. Yeah you're right, people seem to be afraid to do what they believe in because they're too worried about loosing their job. sad. Hey, have you watched this "Slipknot vs Alice Cooper (interview)" it's linked to this page. Trust me, it is very successful in getting every Cooper fan's blood boiling! I think i did ok in keeping my cool. lol.
He makes a very good point you say "Welcome To My Nightmare" you give them a Nightmare and this was Alice Coopers theme..... when you go on an Alice Cooper concert you don't expect just to see and hear Alice Cooper....you want to see and all the Shocking things he does on stage......
respect for alice, by far 1 of the greatest artists.. revolutionised music plus spoke so much sense when it mattered.. people just lack common sense and humour in some cases.. why would they ban him otherwise..
i hate to see bad comments on alice, mr coop is a bad boy but he is not a bad man, every rockers are badass but they have some good sides to like ''normal'' ppl too xD fuck ! mr cooper you are a rock god!<33
...at one point, some big corporate told the creators of Tom & Jerry to cut off the show...Does that count as a ban? Oh, the things you learn from PBS
Do you know if that was the show they made the DVD from? If it was, tell me where you were in front and what ya looked like & next time I watch it I'll look for ya! I've been to England once before, when I was in the Navy. Made a port call in Portsmouth and took the train up to London. My brother was stationed over there in the USAF, so he came down to Portsmouth to see me! It was a great reunion! : )
Think there's a mix-up here! I was at Wembley in 75 and there's a DVD from film of that show. I was right back in the crowd, though. I was right down the front by the stage at Southampton in July this year, but don't think there's a DVD yet! Also saw Alice at Wembley in 86 and 88! Check out 'Alice Impales Cameraman' on Y.Tube - I was there!! I've never been to the US - I'd like to go over and bring Alice back here!! XX
Alice once again shows his superb character and showmanship! I don't think we were so stupid in the 70s to think that he REALLY killed babies and executed himself - the press said that to sell papers! The trouble with younger so-called Shock Rockers is that unlike Alice they have no depth or understanding of humour or redemption. All they want to do is see how far they can disgust us with filthy language and dildo stunts!
You ever seen the DVD "Welcome To My Nightmare"? Or better yet, did you ever see the original SHOW around '75?!! I doubt my parents would've let me go! The one on DVD was filmed at Wembley, as I recall. The press should have KNOWN that he OBVIOUSLY didn't kill himself on stage! How ELSE would he come back for another SHOW?!! LOL! About the babies...people thought, "UGH! He is SO SICK!" He comments about that & said, "I love babies, I just hate dolls, that's all!" Google "Solid Rock Foundation"!
I was at that show at Wembley Empire Pool (now Arena) in 75, yes! My parents didn't have a say because I was 19! Alice's 2 guitarists, Dick Wagner and Steve Hunter, were amazing, check 'Devil's Food Live' and DW & SH Onstage on Y.Tube. I remember Alice talking about the dolls, too! Saw him in Southampton in July - At 60 he still rocks the socks off everyone else. I got so close, right on the barrier, crushed and ecstatic!!
You ought to look something up about Alice that may surprise you. Try doing a Search on "Solid Rock Foundation", k? What you see there might be a shock to you! : O
in another interveiw he said there was a time were he actually put a sword through his leg albeit accidently. he was messing around with it and he chucked it in the air when it came down it went through his leg and everyone cheered because they thought it was fake so while the curtain was up he acted as if it was fake but when the curtain went down he screamed his head off... well aparantly
Alice Cooper, Marry me. If there was no Alice Cooper, there would be no GWAR, KISS, or Ozzy, or any of those bands, because they were all influenced by this theatrical musical genius.
The Alice Cooper group released their first album in 1969 and started doing the whole shock rock thing around then or shortly after. Kiss came out in 1972. Black Sabbath formed in the mid-sixties but they were just heavy metal, when Ozzy went off on his own, thats when he started doing "shock rock".
I don't THINK so! Ozzy maybe, but KISS? Those dudes started around 1973, at least that's when their first album, simply called "Kiss" came out. And they can't hold a candle to The COOP! His group did their first album ("Pretties For You") in 1969.
LOL! I hear ya! I'm not any kind of "expert" on music history, but I was pretty sure he'd been around about the longest, except for The Stones. He mentioned that in an itnerview with KPHO Channel 5 in Phoenix once. The group was originally called "The Nazz", when, as he said, "We were basically just a garage band." They decided they needed a better name, and they started thinking of women's names..Lizzie Borden..Baby Jane..Alice Cooper. So there ya have it! ; )
I remember Screaming Lord Sutch complaining around 71 that Alice had stolen his make up and there were other shockers like MC5 and Crazy World of Arthur Brown, but Alice's band pushed limits further and got the commercial success. It was great being a teen in the UK at the end of the 60s and start of the 70s when it was all happening! No one comes close to Alice's originality and showmanship. Love to all AC fans!
As if you ban Alice Cooper c'mon, you should ban all the rappers and gangsta music. Ha it made me laugh when he was saying about what he asked the london people why they were banning him "Is there nudity in our show...no, is there any swearing...no..." and then he thinks lol sweet guy love him to pieces XD
@Antworrioress07 I agree with you to peices. I for one HATE (most) rap with a passion. A lot of people at school give me hell about it too. At least I have reasons. Rap is good in some cases, and those are the raps that I like. like if it doesn't have 60000 cuss words over and over and talking about how "Gansta" their "shawty" is. It often has sexual or hate themes. Yes, so does rock at times, I don't listen to that kid of rock either. Thus concludes my rant. I expect lots of thumbs-downs. -.-;;
hes also a great radio host

Alice Cooper is a fucking legend.
Side note: if you think Macbeth is bloody look at Shakespeare's "Titus Andronicus". It's the violent Shakespeare that most teachers never talk about.
