Not to mention the no-huddle offense and the shotgun formation was rarely used league-wide in the 70's - I think the Cowboys were the only team that frequented the shotgun back then.
It was an amazing defense and effective idea at the time. Nobody can deny just how effective it was, the numbers speak for themselves. However, something like this simply wouldn't be plausible in modern day football. With the innovations of the west coast offense, and specifically the quick, timed routes that come with it, it would blow holes in a defense like this. Not to mention teams like the Patriots frequently go out in the 5 wide out formation, which stops this in its tracks.
@crx122 lul you mad at the fact the FALCONS of all teams is the #1 D ever? and yes I agree entirely with your statement but let me ask you this how can you throw the ball to a wide open guy when there is 4 dudes in your face before the ball is even to you? I think in modern day football they would lose a lot 21-3 or 28-0 but they still would of sacked the QB 5-6 times most likely but give up a lot of after the catch yards
