Ugh, the name of the song is Tour De France by Kraftwerk. A German Technopop group from the 70's. They were highly sampled by hiphop artists in the 80's, especially their song "Trans Europe Express...
In the original director's cut, this is all revealed to be a hallucination Turbo suffers after being bashed in the back of the skull with a baseball bat by Poppin' Taco.
I'm old school DJ, bomber, strutter(electro-pop) and I was 16 when this movie came out. I actually had this copy dubbed from a VHS and played it over and over!
I just watched this on the MGM channel in High Def for the 1st time ever...an all time classic. I miss the 80's...(& being young enough to do this shit again!)
About two weeks after watching Breakin' for the first time with my buddy we were sitting down watching some Chappelle's Show and it was the episode where he does this dance. We both about lost out minds.
It never ceased to amaze me how breakdance dominated the east coast back in '84,but when it spread all over the west coast with "Breakin",I thought to myself 'was this how the east coast-west coast rivalry began?'naaaahhhh!!!,all that shit happened in the rap game, this here is breakdance,a positive form of self-expression;RECOGNIZE,BYOTCHES!!!
@The1ofthekind this song is called Tour De France from Kraftwerk. They're german and they developed these types sound in the early 70's!!!!!!!! If you like this i suggest you look into kraftwerk, they are the pioneers to the 80's synth age. Way ahead of their time. Peace :)
funny thing is the break dance still on the street i growing up with this kind dance and step up if the proof break dance never gonna die it's turn better
They wanted you to see the strings. There's in the film documentary. It's like when you go to the theatre, you see the strings behind the actors but you don't care because you're not seeing a movie but a theatrical live performance. In this scene they wanted to do the same by using a cheap prop to make the scene more realistic and not a fantasy one. It's just like Turbo is doing it just for fun.
Sidewalks still dusty....
