@enochpowellnickgriff def my jam in my 20's.. you said it all.. i brought this music to my friends, some liked it but most loved it when psychedelic.. look how i turned out.. :D
Robert fripp ,who of king crimson fame, is on this album he is married to Toyahof its amystery fame,my dad knows Toyah!distantly though, anyone who would like to add me is welcome .blessed be.

I will always have secret lsd or psilocybin sessions as it just lends it self well especially when there is always new music coming out out and love to listen to all the classics . . . long live electronic music and hallucinagens
I wonder if they still have all the models and the software; they could re-render it with a more distant depth cue and better textures. It's very smooth nonetheless.
This mix is composed of a myriad of samples and ambient arrangements that can be found in the following tracks from the Lifeforms album and single. The unknown arrangements are either exclusive or might be found on Environments. 0:12-0:24 - Lifeforms (Path 1) 0:24-0:47 - Lifeforms (Path 5) 0:47-0:58 - [unknown] 0:58-1:10 - Cascade 1:10-1:21 - [unknown] 1:21-2:59 - Dead Skin Cells 2:59-3:24 - Ill Flower 3:24-3:46 - Cascade 3:46-4:03 - Vertical Pig 4:03-6:30 - [unknown] 6:30-6:49 - Vertical Pig
Hey everybody - I just released my solo album "Mirror Image" that contains electronic upbeat and ambient songs heavily inspired by The Future Sound of London. If you're interested you can check out the songs on my youtube page, and links to my myspace page and places to download the full album are on my youtube channel as well :) .

any fsol is prolly the only disc i will ever buy because you miss so much buying a song here or there with this group...flip the whole disc in and a fine night to be sure....peace, cheese, and boomers from wisconsin!
Wow this is amazing! I never knew they did a video to the Life forms album. Although the music is different, sort of like a condensed version with different bits added. Is this video available as a DVD?
One of my all time favorites - can really take you to another world if you let it. But yeah this one was from the Single CD that featured 7 "paths". There was also the Album entitled Lifeforms. They are two of my best CDs
They sound vaguely familiar. There are some different lifeforms cd's altogether.. different releases. I don't know the exact ones. I can direct you to this capability though - mp3ify dawt com, if you want to get the audio from these videos you like so much :)
this ver is lifeforms is from single edition (with Elisabeth Fraser) not album (2CD) but have still different arrangement on 3:05 is Cascade 3 from Robert Fripp Essential mix not the same thing how Cascade3 from single ver FSOL
Yeah this is a classic, I used to listen to it going to sleep wayback in 1994. The Lifeforms single is still awesome, these guys made the most beautiful soundscapes...
absolutely classic, I can't find words, how to describe it, just simply-> this is one of my favourite release EVER! Fortunately I have got the original album.
There is a Lifeforms double album, that is more laid back, and a Lifeforms single CD. this version comes from the single. It's much harder to find than the album. I found mine on Ebay..
Has anyone else noticed that this arrangement of music doesn't appear on the Lifeforms album? I went and bought the album after watching this video, but its a different arrangement, and doesn't even have quite the same feel to it. Could anyone tell me what the music in this video is from, as i think it's much better than the album version! Cheers!!
You mean the VHS version? Hmm might look into that then. Also there's the MP3 download version with a track listing that goes Lifeforms Path 1, Path 2 etc. They really didn't make it easy for us did they!
@pia06dt without much effort/research, I'm pretty sure this is off the singles. They had Lifeforms on a album with Elizabeth Fraser vocals, I think ~6 tracks, definitely worth finding, perhaps better than the regular 2-disc album. I used to have a giant poster of it in my room, a sepia-toned image of a strange girl and cytoplasmic-looking bubbles... the 90s were definitely cooler than this past decade :0(
@BigKatz Thanks, but i already bought that album thinking it contained the above track. I've come to the conclusion it is off the Lifeforms VHS that Future Sound of London released, though im not sure where you'd get it now. Saw one on amazon for £20 or something... Definitly need to snap it up after i win the lottery :0
I remember having two albums called lifeforms. the first one was with a couple of songs and the second one seemed to be a kind of "set" with (like) 4 tracks. Right now i am searching my cd stash (things i haven't done in a couple of years) to find both of them (got a little high!). FSOL is a genius!
@pia06dt You actually have the Lifeforms single which is titled Path 1 Path 2 etc. The album Lifeforms is 2 cds and amazing. I had both and though them to be unique and great in their own right.
@pia06dt@multi2thecore This version is on the Lifeforms Disc (EP) which contains Lifeforms Paths 1 through 7. This is Lifeforms Path 1. The Lifeforms EP is worth purchasing if you can find it. Each version is good and you can find the versions on YouTube
Haha... there's still a little dent in the livingroom skirting board round my parents house where I threw my tape after the video chewed it up. Some days I would watch this 6+ times in a row! I even remember Top of the Pops playing about 3 minutes of it!
I've been a fan for like ten years and I haven't seen this until now-and I can't believe I ve never seen it before, its like hearing this songs again for the first time
I know why this was terrifying to so many people when they were kids: life forms.
The video shows organic 3D models, artificial lifeforms that are supposed to move and look like little life forms - tentacles, eggs, seeds, little flies and bubbles floating around...
This means this video really touches one of our primal instincts: beware dangerous animal! Young kids are not able to suppress this feeling, adults seeing this video as a form of art have no problem to see beyond the fear.
Thank you SO much for uploading this. I too had this VHS at one point (My parents figured it wasn't worth keeping... for shame!) but I was easily creeped out by things involving a sort of psychedelia behind them--sadly that included some other great works like Yellow Submarine and Alice In Wonderland. I look at all three of these pieces and consider them to be absolute genius. It's a real shame that I (and most people) had such anti-drug upbringings that we couldn't really grasp this as kids.
Because i was only 4 or 5 at the time and the feel of the music creeped me and espiecally the video the images seemed terrifying to me lol now i looked back on it i still think its terryfying. but i do love it so much. confusing i know
Amazing ' FSOL changed my perception of the world.
I think this video is incredible. I really can't imagine what someone had to do to make these graphics with the technology at the time. Think of the rendering time alone.
In my view many creatives are still playing catchup with the digital concepts of the early 90's. You have to remember that in those days everything was so fresh and new, so it was pure imagination.
I think FSOL remain very cutting edge even by todays standards.
it looks very very dated but i agree the concepts are there, at the time so much was ahead of its time, this is truely a work of art album, music without boundaries and right up there with Leftism and Stinsons Other people place album.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
This video looks so so so outdated. Early computer animation is painful to the eye. FSOL always had really bad & cheesy album art...still it looks better than that adult swim show "xavier: renengade angel"
I just think the Orb did this kind of stuff so much better, visually and musically.
Modern technology became to much for FSOL. The looked old school the moment main stream media came to be. I love FSOL and their '93' essential mix was a defining moment in music, but they couldn't compete.
Guys please more info about Orbital back together, please, please.I am 31years old and i've loved them from the first record to the last.Party zone,Orbital,Aphex Twin,Sven Vath,Leftfield, old Prodigy stuff.Nothing's like that nowdays. Thanks in advance, greets from Greece!
Not sure they'll get back together as a recording duo... although they didn't rule out working together again. That said this is from their wiki page: "On 21st November 2008, Orbital announced they would be reforming to play a gig together called "20 years after Chime" at The Big Chill Festival 2009. They precede this show with a headline performance at Rock Ness 2009 in June [5]."
On 26th January 2009, Loopz announced confirmed dates. "The Orbital reformation gathers momentum with headline shows now confirmed for Manchester and London this September." [6].
On 17th April 2009, it was announced that Orbital would be playing at The Electric Picnic in September 2009."
Orbital is my all time favorite artist. (even though they broke up) I heard halcyon from the MK soundtrack and I've been hooked ever since and will always be. Lately it's been BT since it sucks to tell people your favorite artist broke up.
I found this and went hunting through my old tape collection - I STILL HAVE THE ORIGINAL :)
Love it = soo many memories :) (seem to remember drugs being a part of my life then :) It was way ahead in effects - the 8086processor was struggling to keep up :P
mmmmmmmm nothing comes close to beating this video or sound track amazing mmmmm

FSOL together with The orb, Leftfield and Orbital (God bless Insides) were the masters of ambient. to bad they all quit doing what they did best.

Orbital is my all time favorite artist. (even though they broke up) I heard halcyon from the MK soundtrack and I've been hooked ever since and will always be. Lately it's been BT since it sucks to tell people your favorite artist broke up.

this song is so cool cause the piano part is in a 13/8 time signature. i never expected a fat beat to drop over it haha so that was cool

Bear in mind this was mid 90's, when a toaster was hi-tech, and you, weazel boy, were but an itch.
