Howard and Oscar are both right about Joseph Don Meredith aka Dandy Don's name. A retired American football quarterback in the National Football League who played for the Dallas Cowboys, a former football commentator and actor.
The Odd Couple seems to be one of the few TV series to be as successful as the movie it was modeled after. MASH is another one.... Any others? Probably, but I can't remember any at the moment.
@AlecJF Yes. Also, whenever they needed a guest for the tonight show, Tony was at the ready to fill in...he is from the 'old school' of the show must go on. In addition, I have enjoyed his appearances on Radio, too.
I wish they would put them back on TV

Vintage TV of high early 70s form.
Jerry Seinfeld once said he insisted his show be filmed and not videotaped because he believed the best sitcoms are rendered that way.
I tend to agree with that. Although Barney Miller, Night Court, etc. were all funny in their own right, filmed sitcoms just look better to me.

I miss these shows on TV. I miss Cosell too. Most of it's PC crap on TV now.

I have never heard one bad word said about Tony Randall. He was loved dearly by everyone who knew hm and he is sorely, sorely missed.

The Odd Couple is so underrated among best tv comdies of all time in America.
I first saw this show in re-runs in late 1980's/early '90's and i was on the ground laughing so hard. It helps i am a huge sports fan.
This show was ahead of its time and if this was shown say in last 10-15 years in era of ESPN this would have been a smash hit.

This is a TV Program that they need to show reruns of. Loved the show as a kid. ESPECIALLY the ones with Cosell. This is Classic Television.
