Something beautiful that will always linger in my head and bring me back to this melody... I have felt both extreme happiness and extreme sorrow by listening to this......
REALLY! how did someone dislike this... f*in' trolls... SE7EN !!! one of the best movies EVER!, and definitely had... well probably THE BEST soundtrack... any movie that can incorporate JS Bach, AND NIN - in close succession is incredible in my book... good choice in style of artwork shown as well (thanks BenFigueroa04, great upload sir)
@SlyTheMongoose That is a strange comparison. One artist that uses music to praise God and inspire men and another that uses it to degrade God and Man (even naming his music after the spikes used to crucify Jesus.) That is a strange comparison.
Yep, looked it up after catching it in the movie "se7en." Gorgeous. Ordered a $40 SACD with 3 CDs of Bach including this and it was a waste - nowhere near as perfect as this version.
yes, this is, by far, the best rendition of air that I have yet found on youtube. the quality is quite good, but like I said, MORE VOLUME. Also, a different background image, or a "slideshow" of some sort would have been preferable
finally a version with the proper tempo. it supposed to be played ADAGIO you dumb fucks. this is how it is supposed to be. I fucking hate shitty "interpretations." this is perfect, and even the accentuation is very graceful and gentle, which is certainly the way it was intended
@md79x Ah, the scene with Morgan Freeman in the library. Be grateful for the internet. I saw the movie when I was seventeen and at the time didn't know the piece, and, lacking any means to identify it, was mad with curiosity until I heard it on a classical radio station three months later.
I never knew the name of this classical piece until i recently watched an old movie ' SE7EN ' and was able to finally identify it in the ending credits. I don't care what the future holds for mankind, i just know that Bach, Beethoven, Mozart, Handel's music etc will be thoroughly enjoyed until the last of the last generations
Bach wrote at the beginning of each sacred piece J.J. for Jesu Juva(Jesus help) and at the end S.D.G for Soli Deo Gloria(to God alone the glory). Although this is not a sacred piece Bach brought his strong Christin beliefs into almost all his work. This is truly a Divine piece.
@Gioma771 That's just "confirmation bias" giving you the illusion that your hypothesis is confirmed, trust me. Out of millions of sperms, Bach could have very well not been born. This accident of birth, was a very fortunate one for us. And without belief in the supernatural, we can realize this and appreciate even more the chance that we have to be able to enjoy it. This music is absolutely beautiful. You can ask why, but your question is flawed. Not all questions starting with "why" make sense.
I don't understand what your point is. You're trying to prove Bach's music has nothing to do with the supernatural? Fine, it's your right to think so, and by the way, this is not something anyone can prove or disprove. I just wrote how I FELT about this piece of music, however, I'm not trying to PROVE anything, got it? So, I don't intend to try to prove the supernatural nature of this music. To me it IS divine, it's as simple as that :)
this is from seven, when there in the libraray, never forget it since the first time i heard it, which is when that movie came out, crazy how music can do that to u
Way too slow. But it's not only about tempo. Sorry to say that Marriner's approach to baroque and classical composers is totally outdated.....sorry because i used to be a big fan when i was younger....
I thought it was much too slow. I love the way this piece freezes time when it's played in the usually used tempo, but this simply *kills* time! However it is nice to see someone try a different approach than the normal one, that takes guts^^
Does anyone know the form of this piece? Is it standard for "ABA" or?
Also is a A polyphonic texture? WHY?
Please HELP!
