Giggedy, giggedy, allright! My P97 wasn't my first handgun but it certainly will be my last (I like it that much). I bought mine new in '03 not knowing that only around 53,000 would ever be made. Who knew?
As the grand-daughter, daughter, & sister of many Marines (and the ex of an Army Sergeant) & myself a law enforcement Sergeant, I just want to say I truly love your videos. It is refreshing to see a woman passionate about what she does; and that being firearms/gun-smithing. Youve won me over & I assume - like myself - you are the owner and lover of the beautiful Kimber(s) in your videos. So I just want to say, please keep up with the great videos and Ill stay tuned in. I enjoy learning from you!
I've been thinking about getting a Glock as my first handgun. My step-dad had the S&W 40, which I've come to love but I was thinking about the Glock 32, 357 Sig. Do you have any opinions on the Glock 32 and what are the advantages and disadvantages of it?
Love the hot librarian thing you have going on. One large caliber gun I can recommend for women (and men who have small hands) is the Ruger P97. Mine has never hiccuped with any ammo. The camblock system really dampens recoil and it fits the hand like a glove. Accurate, too. Unfortunately few p97's were made. Whatever you choose you need a weapon that is absolutely reliable.
So I wanted to ask, I have been looking for a rather exotic/rare rifle, and have been having alot of trouble. I have been looking for a Zastava M76 or copy at several gun shows and shops, but I am not having much luck. Do you know of any place I can look or maybe even a gun club I can look at?
You are a excellent weapons consultant! I especially like your holster videos. Thanks.
What holster with high retention do you recommend for the XD 40 sub compact, IWB with a slight cant, like you wear under the veater with your 1911 in the video? And, Do you like the XD's
girl, elaborate! people want to hear you knowledge & opinions as much as anything else, so tell us about the baby eagle, the AK, the mauser, the AR.

The Jericho (Baby Eagle) is awesome. I am waiting for the locked and cocked version which is coming as soon as it switches distributers (I believe Magnum Research will no longer be selling them)
Hi limalife, I have a 1911 Question, Aluminium Frames I have heard of them but never seen them is it an Urban Myth? not that it maters to me being in England we carn't own them now but I keep up to date but would the 45 be to Powerful for Aluminium?.
Aluminum alloy is not uncommon in 1911's , the .45 is not too powerful for an aluminum frame. The recoil can be felt slightly more in the aluminum models however they are extremely light and good for concealed carry purposes.
Thanks for the info, I owe you a pint of Beer so it is an Alloy what do they use with the Aluminium to keep it lite?. I take it +P loads would give it a kick like a Mule :-) I am trying to get a 1911 there is a loophole in the Law here in England as long as the S/N shows it was made before 1916 you can own one under strict controls. Thanks again.
The aluminum alloy contains copper and zinc i believe, as it would be too weak with just pure aluminmum. This mixture alloys the gun to be fired without cracking into pieces under the extreme pressure. I shoot a Para-Ordnance 1911 LTC with an aluminum alloy frame, it's unbeleiveably light! search my screen name "dirtyminded604"and you will see the gun i'm talking about. cheers...
Aluminum is almost never found in a 1911. Steel-framed 1911s are almost always the norm. On some of the more cheaper models, Firestorm, Armscor, you will find MIM casted parts, but not in the frame. Yes, you can find aluminum frames in weapons such as the T92s, B92 and M9.
Kimber, Smith&Wesson, Colt, Para Ordnance and Springfield all make alloy framed guns and they are quite abundant and MIM is found in a majority of 1911s such as Kimber, Para, and yes even Colt.
I'm talking frames. Colt uses MIM on small parts, sears, mag catches, and disconnectors. Yeah, Kimber makes MIM aluminum, but they're more the exception. Springfield has never made a 1911, and I've personally never seen Springfield with an aluminum frame. Para Ordnance makes aluminum frames for some double stack models, for weight reasons, but are majorly steel. Smith and Wesson makes a heavy use of scandium alloy, and frame is cut; MIMed parts are pin stop, hammer, g. safety, and m.s. housing.
OK, but that's not what you said, you said aluminum is never found in a 1911 and steel frames are the norm, and that there you will not find mim parts in the frame but the parts you listed are in the frame, the frame is part of a 1911. And I think you made a type where you said "Springfield has never made a 1911" Springfield has a LW Champion, LW Operator and the EMP in 9mm is alloy frame as well. Para makes alloy framed single stacks as well such as the LTC Alloy, PDA, Carry 9, etc.
Yeah, so maybe I exaggerated with the "never" part, but steel frames are usually the norm. Springfield has never made a 1911. Almost every part in a Spring. 1911 is an IMBEL produced part. They assemble, but don't make. Of course you can make small MIM parts, sears, disconnectors, grip safeties, are common in a 1911. Thats why I made the B92, M9, etc. comment is because those were the only entirely aluminum frame weapons I could think off my head. I don't know, maybe Rugers are as well?
You obviously don't have a clue of what you're talking about. "Aluminum is almost never found in a 1911"??? Aluminum is actually very common. listen to Limalife she know's what she's talking about.
to be honest i didn't even rate it, and also, she's not tail... she's married with a kid... and I have a bit more sense than to drool over a youtube video...
(For my 1911) I have been using a reproduction WW2 US style holster with a uncle mikes belt. It is fine for plinking while Im out shooting in the woods. I use a leather cross draw holster from Triple K while bowhunting in CO for elk. I would like to get a Safariland holster sometime in the future.
i have a question, what is the most efficient concealed holster to use for a full size M1911A1? i am planning to buy something that can carry the gun with just a thin jacket... thanks
I carry a full size 1911 with an IWB. I have a holster from highnoon(dot)com called the "split decision" I have several other holsters from High Noon and I've been happy with all of them. I use the "split decision" with my 1911 because it's the slimmest of my carry guns and the "split decision" makes it easy to tuck in a dress shirt over the gun.
you state a lot of opinions of your own as fact...in general you seem very knowledgeable, but also come off as a little "matter of fact"...so that being said, with all these videos of "knowledge", where is a video of you actually firing on a range and showing the results...not an attack on you or your videos (they are decent, but your cadence and dictation is so SLOW, I can barley get through them)...please let's see you back up your facts on the range...it would be very much appreciated
I'm not sure how a video of me shooting would make anything I say more or less accurate.
If I were making a video on how to shoot, sure, I'd need to show I knew what I was doing. But a video describing parts on guns, calibers, take-downs and holsters has nothing to do with whether I can shoot or not.
I never claim to be Annie Oakley. I'll say only that I can hold my own. Maybe one day I'll put up a video of me shooting. Till then, you'll just have to doubt me.
I actually prefer it when people question what I say. If there's one thing I can't stand it's a mindless drone who just swallows what they hear without making sure the source is credible.
I encourage EVERYONE I talk to to question what I say. I am certainly not above being wrong. If I'm told I'm wrong, I'll reevaluate, triple check my own sources and correct myself if need be. I strive for all my information to be good, solid and factual.
yes, I agree, but not all of it is factual...a lot is opinion...and you state it in a way that leads ME to believe you are trying to state an indisputable fact...maybe I am wrong, but it's an observation and opinion of mine...I would like to see you back up some of these statements...ANYONE can memorize some stuff out of a manual...not everyone is qualified to shoot...in my opinion, I would take what you say to heart if you backed it up by showing a good neutral shooting position (on range)
I know plenty of people who talk and talk about what they know about firearms, and then they get on range and it's obvious they have no business owning a firearm, much less trying to educate people about them...again not an attack, just a suggestion..it's not an issue of how tight your grouping is or anything of that nature..I would just like to see how safely you operate a firearm and weather or not you are qualified to even attempt to "describe parts on guns, calibers, take-downs and holsters"
would you take your car to a mechanic, that has never driven a car??? or can't demonstrate that he can at least operate one?? either way nice try on the videos...if the cadence wasn't so slow, I would give you 4 stars...get on range and prove me wrong
Do you question the credibility of all the gun video authors, or just the females? Just curious, as I watch alot of this type of video, yet dont see much in the way of challenging anyone's "range" credibility, especially if their vidoe comes across in a knobledgeable and professional manner to begin with?? In other words, why would you question if she can shoot or not? Is there something she said that leads you to believe she's NOT credible?
has nothing to do with gender...I would post the same response on ANY video where someone was trying to present things in this "matter of fact" fashion...and I think it's insane to think ANYONE is qualified to describe the workings of weapons, without proving that they are well acquainted with their use...like I said before, that would be like a mechanic who can't take your car on a test drive with you, to prove he knows how to drive/diagnose...it's just common sense...
The best automobile mechanic in the world could be an absolutely horrible driver. It does not mean they have no business teaching someone how to repair autos. Limalife has certainly not said anything, in any of the videos that I've watched, that would mislead someone or cause an unsafe situation.. has she? You can't discern between what she has stated as fact and her opinion? Why don't you point out something specific to contest if you thing she is wrong?
PLEASE get some vids of you at the range! You know so much about guns, you will be PERFECT if you are a expert shot with them too! Please think about my comment:P Thank you!
He's the one who always tells me there is no such thing as "Ex" Marines.. only former..lol
I know I've shot a TC but I can't remember if it was a contender or not and I honestly can't remember the calibe. When you shoot as many guns as I have they all start to run together. Especially if they aren't my personal guns, but just guns that are being passed around a range. :D
The Desert Eagle is a fine weapon and fun to shoot, but I'm not a big fan. I work as a motion picture armorer and I'm frequently haggled with requests for the Desert Eagle; I always end up trying to explain to directors and prop masters that it's not a practical defensive pistol that anyone would really use.
Far from, tropico5. It may seem that many American men have been Marines only because the camaraderie between Marines is so very high. But in actually the United States Marine Corps is a very small group. For example, the US Army currently has just over 1.4 million soldiers. We - the Corps - have, total, just over 180,000 Marines. That's it. And because so much more of ones body, mind, and soul is required to become a Marine, that much more pride is shown between Marines.
I am thinking about Beretta 92FS or a Sig P6. While Beretta have 15 rounds, P6 only holds 8. Beretta is bigger in size, and Sig is much smaller and easier to conceal. Both are 9mm. If you have to choose between more ammo in a clip vs. size, what would you choose?
Hopefully after I have my baby. Shooting while pregnant is bad for baby, both because of lead and noise pollution. As much as I love guns I love my child more. Hopefully I'll be back on the firing line by December or shortly thereafter.
As far as hunting is concerned, the SKS is an affordable rifle, and there is the option of a five round fixed box magazine, that would meet the requirements for a legal hunting rifle...ammo is relatively cheap in comparison with the other options...
I used to have one a few years back, but had to get rid of it because of some problems I was having, resulting from the modifications that the nitnoy before me had made to it.
how does one detach a detachable carry handle from an ar15? i have loosened the 2 large screws on the left side of the carry handle, but it won't come off.
thanks for the info i am only 14 years old but know alot obout firearms but i still dont think you will be impresd about the guys that just seem to repeat everithing you say about firearms.
Track coving up guy! What a name. I bet your locals think they are real lucky to have such a helpful person working at there local gun shop. It must help so much when buying some as personal as a gun.
I want to buy a 1911 in 45 acp with a 4" barrel. Figuring that much out was easy. Now to choose an affordable model on my low budget without buying something I wont be happy with out of the box.
I'm trying to decide if RIA will work for me or if I should pay alittle more for a Springfield. Any suggestion to help me decide would be appreciated.
Could you make a video about best way to remove rust from guns and rebluing them? Also how to keep guns and ammo so it wouldn't rust or anything? Thanks
Hi Limalife, what do you think of the Kel Tec - P3AT. I own one and have had no issues at all with it and only ever heard good things about Kel Tec service. They are very well priced, great manual with it, complete parts list and made in America.
Now I know you answered all their questions but I wanted to know ( If you know about Riflrs and Shotguns) did the Benelli M3 and a M25 models have a wooden models as well?
Wow! cat lover, gun enthusiast, & looks! You would have been a perfect for me but then you mentioned being married. DAMN!! I still enjoy your vids, very educational & i also pick up a few things that I didn't know. Good work & keep it up!
I think you should do a video on accessories for the ar15's because a bunch of people always ask me how do i put this stock on, can I put this sight on, how do you get a new muzzlebreak on the gun, how do I change the rails, and other things of that nature.
Okay let me elaborate more, I am her husband, and I have no interest in being on youtube.
This is her gig, I have no problem holding a camera if we get one, but as far as being on camera, no thanks, besides, my guns look better in her hands than mine!
I love you !!

you state a lot of opinions of your own as fact...in general you seem very knowledgeable, but also come off as a little "matter of fact"...so that being said, with all these videos of "knowledge", where is a video of you actually firing on a range and showing the results...not an attack on you or your videos (they are decent, but your cadence and dictation is so SLOW, I can barley get through them)...please let's see you back up your facts on the range...it would be very much appreciated
AriM 3 years ago
I'm not sure how a video of me shooting would make anything I say more or less accurate.
If I were making a video on how to shoot, sure, I'd need to show I knew what I was doing. But a video describing parts on guns, calibers, take-downs and holsters has nothing to do with whether I can shoot or not.
I never claim to be Annie Oakley. I'll say only that I can hold my own. Maybe one day I'll put up a video of me shooting. Till then, you'll just have to doubt me.
limalife 3 years ago
Oh, and P.S.
I strive for all my information to be good, solid and factual.
limalife 3 years ago
yes, I agree, but not all of it is factual...a lot is opinion...and you state it in a way that leads ME to believe you are trying to state an indisputable fact...maybe I am wrong, but it's an observation and opinion of mine...I would like to see you back up some of these statements...ANYONE can memorize some stuff out of a manual...not everyone is qualified to shoot...in my opinion, I would take what you say to heart if you backed it up by showing a good neutral shooting position (on range)
AriM 3 years ago
I know plenty of people who talk and talk about what they know about firearms, and then they get on range and it's obvious they have no business owning a firearm, much less trying to educate people about them...again not an attack, just a suggestion..it's not an issue of how tight your grouping is or anything of that nature..I would just like to see how safely you operate a firearm and weather or not you are qualified to even attempt to "describe parts on guns, calibers, take-downs and holsters"
AriM 3 years ago
would you take your car to a mechanic, that has never driven a car??? or can't demonstrate that he can at least operate one?? either way nice try on the videos...if the cadence wasn't so slow, I would give you 4 stars...get on range and prove me wrong
AriM 3 years ago
Do you question the credibility of all the gun video authors, or just the females? Just curious, as I watch alot of this type of video, yet dont see much in the way of challenging anyone's "range" credibility, especially if their vidoe comes across in a knobledgeable and professional manner to begin with?? In other words, why would you question if she can shoot or not? Is there something she said that leads you to believe she's NOT credible?
Mickstix18 3 years ago
has nothing to do with gender...I would post the same response on ANY video where someone was trying to present things in this "matter of fact" fashion...and I think it's insane to think ANYONE is qualified to describe the workings of weapons, without proving that they are well acquainted with their use...like I said before, that would be like a mechanic who can't take your car on a test drive with you, to prove he knows how to drive/diagnose...it's just common sense...
AriM 3 years ago
i actually agree with u its not gender its just how shes expressing it not to be mean but u also got me curious.

Why don't you point out something specific to contest if you thing she is wrong?

hi belle! How many guns do you have?
yesterda 3 years ago
Your husband may tell you that there's no such thing as a 'former' Marine :)
My fav is my Contender with a .22, .45 long and .223. If you have shot one I'd love to know what you think along with favorite barrels.
LOVE the vids!!
B17MIKE 3 years ago
He's the one who always tells me there is no such thing as "Ex" Marines.. only former..lol
I know I've shot a TC but I can't remember if it was a contender or not and I honestly can't remember the calibe. When you shoot as many guns as I have they all start to run together. Especially if they aren't my personal guns, but just guns that are being passed around a range. :D

Here's a question: How old were you when you started getting interested in firearms and shooting, and how did that happen?

have you ever shot a desert eagle? or a barret 50 cal sniper? those are awsome!
DreadsViking 3 years ago
Yes. I've shot both.
limalife 3 years ago
The Desert Eagle is a fine weapon and fun to shoot, but I'm not a big fan. I work as a motion picture armorer and I'm frequently haggled with requests for the Desert Eagle; I always end up trying to explain to directors and prop masters that it's not a practical defensive pistol that anyone would really use.

It seems near enough every american man has been a marine lol.. no offense
tropico5 3 years ago
Far from, tropico5. It may seem that many American men have been Marines only because the camaraderie between Marines is so very high. But in actually the United States Marine Corps is a very small group. For example, the US Army currently has just over 1.4 million soldiers. We - the Corps - have, total, just over 180,000 Marines. That's it. And because so much more of ones body, mind, and soul is required to become a Marine, that much more pride is shown between Marines.

Are you an expert on military firearms too?
Prouductions 3 years ago 2
I am thinking about Beretta 92FS or a Sig P6. While Beretta have 15 rounds, P6 only holds 8. Beretta is bigger in size, and Sig is much smaller and easier to conceal. Both are 9mm. If you have to choose between more ammo in a clip vs. size, what would you choose?
Scharfschutze219 3 years ago
Sig all the way. The Beretta is way to weird in the hand, and I have big hands.

No clue. Never lived in Oklahoma. I don't know state laws there. Look them up.
limalife 3 years ago
Wellthat makes sense, congrats on the baby and I look forward to the video.
fatzac86 3 years ago
When will we get to see a video of you shooting?
fatzac86 3 years ago
Hopefully after I have my baby. Shooting while pregnant is bad for baby, both because of lead and noise pollution. As much as I love guns I love my child more. Hopefully I'll be back on the firing line by December or shortly thereafter.

As far as hunting is concerned, the SKS is an affordable rifle, and there is the option of a five round fixed box magazine, that would meet the requirements for a legal hunting rifle...ammo is relatively cheap in comparison with the other options...
ianclytle 3 years ago
For hunting, a low-cost Enfield is a better option.
EricGrubb 3 years ago
I guess it would depend on what you're hunting.
alianatwar9696 3 years ago
Well, an SKS would certainly WORK for hunting various things, I just think the Enfield presents a better platform at a competitive price.

I'm trying to decide if RIA will work for me or if I should pay alittle more for a Springfield. Any suggestion to help me decide would be appreciated.
