I think the joker just acts crazy. The bad jokes are part of his real personality while his other acts are part if his persona he uses. He is slightly mad but I think that he' s actually being really clever in making everyone believe that he's crazy.

this first tape is incorect any true batman fan knows when batman hands the criminals in for the first time he says blah blah blah his name (for the joker) jack naiper goes by the joker, they would have listed him as jack naiper a.k.a. the joker.

It was in the Tim Burton movie, and I think one story made reference to it, but everywhere else, nobody knows his name.

@JamieHowitt nope because any real batman fan would go by the animated series which they state that his identity is in fact unknown but they do pull out his file in a few episode which have jack naiper labeled on them. but you are basiclly right because most of the time they will say it is unknown, and no offence but i dont go by the live action batman's.

The makers of Arkham Asylum and even the Chris Nolan Batman movies read the comics too. Doesn't mean the films are anything like the comics :P

Yup. And in the comics, his identity is still unknown.

So making this Joker more like the comics means making him *not* Jack Napier (which was just a one-time alias that the police believed was his real identity for a while).

There weren't many Jokers, but Hamill is definitely my personal fave. Then goes Ledger's Joker, oh that guy was a genius! Didn't get much of a chance to portray the character a bit more though, too bad.
