both are great bikes (assuming you're comparing same years), but I would go with the r6. just personal preference though based on looks. performance-wise they're both about the same
@ferrarithedude I really recommend against any of those as your first bike until you have actually sat on them and done a test ride... I'm sure you can find a friend or something that can give you a supersport to try. You'll thank me for it when the time comes...

Off the line, absolutely the bike will rape the car, but above 60 or so a 400bhp car will usually pull on the bike I have somewhere around 430bhp from my XKR at the moment and it has no problem pulling away from an r6 above 70 or so. An R1 though is a completely different story, they pull away so fast I'm lucky if I see which way they went!

even my dodge charger will pull to about 172 mph. take a while to get there if i can even see the bike anymore which means the race is pretty much over then anyway isnt it.....lol

Im into both and TBH, whilst driving in my car I have pulled up next to lots of bikes and cars that I would never beat, but a friendlt blip of the throttle whilst next to some drivers, is common when people want to see how fast your ride is! Having done that to an F430 recently and talking to the driver at the lights...he was more than happy to show me how fast his new toy really was! its not all about competition but also appreciation

Most 600's will do 0-60 in under 4s, most cars that can do that your looking in the £50k+, for that amount of money you could put a deposit down on a house & own 3bikes.

You can go do the calculations for yourself... its physics.. L☺L reminds me when I had my old Mercedes 400e when these kids would come around with there noisy 4 banger cars. Guess they mistake it for a 300e that only has a 180-200 hp 3.0-.3.2 L6 engine (depending on year) The 400e has a 4.2 V8 275 HP and is governed to top out at 155mph. Real fun in the Nevada desert with the long stretches of straight highway.
i had a traffic light gp race with an evo 9 a few months back,i ride a gsxr 750 k7.i don;t know what he'd done to the car but it was bloody fast,i had to keep the bike pinned to get away,nice little power as i went away as well,so looked pretty cool..lol..but it was a quick car,4 wheel drive & launch control & 300+bhp takes some beating,not bad for a 145bhp 5k bike!!
And if you hit a pothle, blew a tyre, hit some debris on the road, dog ran out in front of you, car pulled out, hit some sand/oil....would you still think you were cool doing over 100km/h in a 60km/h (or similar speed zone) area and your body rlling and smashing down the road? @hot318 Not really, the r1 or most bikes have pretty good engine breaking, since he was in a low gear and high revs engine breaking is pretty strong. So he slows down pretty fast without braking when he lays of the gas.
I like to pull away fast just so I have the opportunity to hear them fly past. Most people know they're not gonna beat a bike, some just want to see and hear them hard on the throttle like I do. As soon as you pull away, they think you're racing so they give it some. Love it :)

@ferrarithedude Check out the Triumph Daytona 675 too. Really good bike with a bit more torque than the 4 cylinders. It handles great aswell.
Personally I would go for a 1000 if you have the money. It's you who decide how fast you want to go, not the bike. Many of us start out on a 1000..

My bike is 0-60 in around 3.4s you'd be hard to find a stock car that can do that.
With a bikes acceleration the car has no chance unless the cars top end is alot faster than the bikes. which in most cases it isn't

L☺L reminds me when I had my old Mercedes 400e when these kids would come around with there noisy 4 banger cars. Guess they mistake it for a 300e that only has a 180-200 hp 3.0-.3.2 L6 engine (depending on year) The 400e has a 4.2 V8 275 HP and is governed to top out at 155mph. Real fun in the Nevada desert with the long stretches of straight highway.

i had a traffic light gp race with an evo 9 a few months back,i ride a gsxr 750 k7.i don;t know what he'd done to the car but it was bloody fast,i had to keep the bike pinned to get away,nice little power as i went away as well,so looked pretty cool..lol..but it was a quick car,4 wheel drive & launch control & 300+bhp takes some beating,not bad for a 145bhp 5k bike!!

So stay off you're bike and let the rest of us ride, this was a harmless acceleration, he punched it than let off right away like a responsible rider, he didn't go all out nuts. You must be afraid of sex, the chances of catching an std are about the same as all the dangers you mentioned above, difference is, there are more stds worldwide than moto accidents. Check the stats, even if you are wearing protection. Soooo, stay home, stay inside and let the rest of us ride.

@hot318 Not really, the r1 or most bikes have pretty good engine breaking, since he was in a low gear and high revs engine breaking is pretty strong. So he slows down pretty fast without braking when he lays of the gas.

I like to pull away fast just so I have the opportunity to hear them fly past. Most people know they're not gonna beat a bike, some just want to see and hear them hard on the throttle like I do. As soon as you pull away, they think you're racing so they give it some. Love it :)

But these type of videos just attract aload of bikers that think there gods gift on 2 wheels and nothing will ever touch them.. as i said in another comment an evo with a good driver will be able to stick to a r1 around the bends , I know this as ive owned an evo 7 and own a k9 gsxr 1000. The evo is awesome around bends and has plenty of power to pull it around / out of them. Ive had a r1 up my ass in the evo and pissed on it, not on the straights though

Power per pound (or doller where-ever you are) bike are cheapish power 10k can get you the acceleration of a £200.000 which is why im more a biker, but i was put to shame buy a porsch on the isle of man mountains (till the straight) so im keeping my mouth shut from now on.
