Michael Saakashvili is beginning to see the writing on the wall (he's all alone, the EU is not going to risk much over a hothead). His days as Georgian president are numbered.
"We are a nation at war [in Iraq] and in many [ways] the reasons for war are fights over energy sources, which is nonsensical when you consider that domestically we have the supplies ready to go." BusinessWeek interview, Gov. Sarah Palin (R-AK) August 29, 2008
Indeed, al-Shahristani is telling the Americans who's the boss (players do that). US advisers tasked to Iraq's Oil Ministry have been heavily involved in the negotiated contracts between Iraq and Shell, BP, Chevron, Total, ExxonMobil, BHP Biliton (these deals are not transparent). Regardless of any political lip service, America is not going to release the lion's share of access to Iraqi Oil, period (hence, continued occupation). Flush your propaganda down to the George W. Bush Sewage Plant.
Maybe 'average working gal' can help his Corporate Socialist masters find the missing $1.6 TRILLION dollars missing (stolen) from the Pentagon (which Mr. Rumsfeld promised to find and return on September 10, 2001, but the figure is estimated by other American auditors at $2.3 TRILLION). The slush funds are known as a BLACK BUDGET. If 'average working gal' is a true American patriot, he will get on the stick and help return the money to the American taxpayers. Any clues big guy?
If the Americans ever leave occupied Iraq, new deals may or may not emerge which are less favorable to the Anglo-American interests (it depends on the stability of the internal situation, which is likely to be chaotic, thanks to the illegal intervention on the part of the USofA). Anti-American Iraqi governments to follow may represent a serious blow to current interests. For this (possible) reason, it is unlikely that America will be unoccupying Iraq anytime soon.
The Iraqi People is a generic term for an Iraqi government. The current legislative body is operating under the protection of the American military (which illegally invaded and executed their former president, but that's another story). The pro-Western position to allow Shell/BP and other Anglo-American cartels to operate is what matters. They want access, not possession. China and Russia are getting a slice of the action (as brokered prior to Operation Iraqi Liberation).
The Iraqi parliament WAS ELECTED by the Iraqi voters.
Pro-western?
They've asked the US to withdraw from Iraq and have an agreement with the US for withdrawal by the end of 2011.
The Iraqi Govt. is contracting to increase Iraq's oil production. When contracting with oil companies, the privately held companies have the most advanced technology to boost production.
There aren't many privately held oil companies outside the US.
'average working gal' and his American geopolitical fantasy.
The Iraqi parliament WAS ELECTED by the Iraqi voters after CIA election plans were put into effect to ensure 'democratic values' be honored (these are called MANAGED ELECTIONS).
Pro-western? Yes, to the degree that corporate socialist lackeys hold top positions(for the time being, that is, as long as American troops occupy the country).
The Iraqi Oil Minister made it clear who's in charge of Iraq's oil: Iraq; when announcing a contract with China's state-owned oil company and warning the western oil companies that they need to act quickly to contract even though Iraq's parliament would not pass the necessary laws to protect the oil companies' investment in time of the contract.
*Watch it dry up during their national rebuilding effort when they try to do all that Halliburton failed to do (and expect the same sort of cooked books and Good Ol' Boy networking that leaves auditors scratching their heads).
'average working gal' and his American apologetics for an illegal invasion of a sovereign nation.
Anglo-American cartels want access, not possession. Operation Iraqi Liberation (OIL) gave/gives them just that. Defeat will come if and when Iraqis actually get the imperial Americans out of their country (but that won't happen: MISSION ACCOMPLISHED) and decide which contracts to honor.
'average working gal' and his American spun fantasy of pro-Western geopolitics.
The Iraqi Govt. is contracting to increase Iraq's oil production. When contracting with oil companies, the privately held companies have the most advanced technology to boost production. There aren't many privately held oil companies outside the US.
The 2003 invasion of Iraq was originally called Operation Iraqi Liberation, but military planners changed when it was pointed out that the initial letters craete the acronym OIL (just a coinincidence, of course).
"My friends, I will have an energy policy that we will be talking about, which will eliminate our dependence on oil from the Middle East that will -- that will then prevent us -- that will prevent us from having ever to send our young men and women into conflict again in the Middle East." John McCain May 2, 2008
nato never be in caucas Georgia leave russia after crush of ussr but dont Abkhazia and Osetia and crate critical situation this two small countrys must join georgia or georgia destroy this beutiful SMALL countrys :/
the Georgians were ethnically cleansed (EC) from the two separatists regions.
Hundreds of thousands from Abkhazia, which was not attacked by Georgia 080708, and tens of thousands from SO, pre-2008.
The Abkhazians engaged in EC of Georgians in the Kodori gorge 080808 even though nobody attacked them.
The russian 'peacekeepers' are coconspirators in EC by forcebly moving Georgians out of their SO villages and allowing the burning of those villages right in front of them.
i dont understaund america why you just dont drink vodka and live in peace with russia noooo u need some new conflicts all world be against you if you start conflict with russia
The real fantasies are not Neocon fantasies as alleged in PoN but fantasies concocted by the Lunatic Conspiracy Theory Fringe, like Alex Jones, about Neocons.
Clinton's FBI invented AlQaeda, huh?
No Neocons in Clinton's FBI.
One good thing in PoN, they point out that until 911, Bush was ignoring the Neocons.
There goes the '911 inside job' conspiracy theory down the drain.
As expected, when you see vile hate spewing from lazytyranny123, it's inevitably a sign of someting like a StormFront Nazi lunatic. lazytyranny123's channel is obsessively overflowing with Hate the Jews propaganda.
Elections don't matter to lazytyranny123, a clear indication of kookdom.
But to real Americans, all elections have consequences.
And these kooks, whenever they reference something, like Power of Nightmares, it's always crackpot media.
Somebody did take Iraq's oil- Saddam- during the Oil for Food Program.
Saddam used oil vouchers to discounted Iraqi oil to enrich and bribe countries (Russia, China, France, Germany) and the UN to rearm Iraq even though sanctions against rearming existed.
So, just because national interests between two countries converge at some point, when national interests of these two countries collide later, you're theory says do nothing to protect your national interests.
Cheney/Bush forged documents to illegally invade Iraq and occupy the second largest OIL reserves on the planet instead of taking out AlQaeda in Afghanistan.
The Middle East, South America, Eastern Europe are much more dangerous places now thanks to promoting socialism for the rich instead of addressing gravely serious issues of global corruption and poverty.
Cheney/Bush inflicted a strategic blow to American foreign policy/integrity through arrogance and deception.
Bush/Cheney have done nothing but made the world safer by taking out AlQaeda, the majority of the Axis of Evil and the AO Khan nuke bomb smuggling network.
The world is a much better place now that a constitutional democracy replaced the Saddam terror regime.
Bush inflicted a strategic defeat on Alqaeda but crushing AlQaeda's terrorist Caliphate.
World becomes difficult. US is conquering the world and weak countries. Fights agains poor Russia, donates Georgias attacks, invadeded Iraq, etc. What is their final goal? Who knows?
Johnson2324, their goal is to establish One World Government, in which people will be nothing more than just stupified brainwashed monkeys, a slave-like workmen in debt until death. It seems much much worse than the communism you americans fought against. This is pure fascism.
Keep Dreaming. Sleep. Obey. Do Not Question The Authorities. Consume. "Bush/Cheney made the world safer" my ass! They seed chaos, and building new world order, making money for a certain group of people who controls them. Just looking for some excuse to intervene another country and spread DEMONcracy there. WAKE UP!

I've only full researched the litigation that has occured so that I know that all you Chicken Little kooks don't know what you're talking about and that you're deliberately lying and trying to gin up hysteria.
You don't have a legal leg to stand on.
US citizens have always had their habeas rights even though the SCOTUS said 'Hamdi Habeas' was sufficient for US citizens.
The Bush Admin. said in response that there would be no opposition to habeas petitions by US citizens.
The Military Commission's Act of 2006 (is ominous enough for many Americans for valid reasons pertaining to civil rights). As for some 85,000 non-American prisoners held by the US government (who still possess human rights) remember the statement of the International Commission of the Red Cross that 70-90% are innocent civilians rounded up in dragnets. Their personal reports of abuse are shocking (but since they're not Americans, they don't really count).

A Perfect Example of the Lunatic Fringe:
"Ameicans have NO TRUE FREEDOM.
The Patriot Act, The Military Commissions Act - Elimination of Habeas Corpus, The Violent Radicalization and Homegrown Terrorism Prevention Act of 2007, The REAL ID Act of 2005, Postal Accountability and Enhancement Act, etc, etc."
So, where are they?
Show me one American, not an AlQaeda member such as Padilla or Hamdi, that has been detained and had their rights violated?
The Australian - David Hicks, was imprisoned at Guantanamo bay! HE did have his rights taken away.
So, perhaps you're right, averageworkinggal, that no American has had this happen, but when it blatantly happens to America's so-called "friends", it's rather disturbing. Furthermore, it contradicts your implication that it's only classical terrorists and AlQaeda members that get stripped of their international human rights.

The purpose of the US missile defense system makes a first strike doctrine unnecessary.
NK put a Taepo Dong 2 3 stage missile, capable of hitting the US, on the launchpad in July 2006 and fired it at the US. It failed in flight over Japan. Several months later, the NKs exploded a nuclear device.
If the NKs had done the nuke bomb explosion first, the US, without a missile defense system, would have to launch a first strike on the Taepo Dong 2 to prevent its launch.
Additionally, it's even more concerning to have heard Joe Biden, yesterday talk about Russia in the sense of a modern threat/issue. Anyone who analyses this can see what is happening.
i think Biden and Obama wont push NATO into their the same way. They are just trying to win the election and they dont want to appear weak right before the election. Putin today also said it seemed timed to benefit McCain. The Democrats cant let it work.
Actually I'm sure I heard Putin quote that it may have been in the favor of certain candidates ie not naming McCain specifically, but certainly implying that that's who he meant.
averageworkinggal, I'm not sure how correct you are about the missile defense installations in Poland. Assuming you're right, the timing and location of something of this genre couldn't have been worse (if you're hoping for friendly relations, that is). Furthermore, Rice's response was one that I found arrogant.
This all sets a dangerous precedent: that it's not about who's right and who's wrong, it's about who's side we're on. It's also interesting following some news agencies such as fox, CNN, BBC, and sky news (australian news). Being in the coalition, it makes me very nervous because I think that Russia is not the perpetrator here.
It will be interesting to see how China handles this. And indeed, Australia.

The lunatic fringe spans the globe.
A missile defense system aims at nothing.
All it does is defend areas against lethal threat missile types launched from certain launch areas and aimed at certain defended areas.
Hopefully, MAD565 won't be so abjectly ignorant anymore.
Since the US missile defense system is contracted only for NK and Iranian missile types, it is only contracted to defend against the NK threat and the looming Iranian threat.
The Russian media are clearly continuing their battle with rationality and reality. Who is this clown? Who does he represent? Putin's ridiculous comments about US soldiers dropping their passports in S. Ossetia is just another nail in the coffin for Russian credibility.
DO NOT TRUST Alex Jones his been talking shit about Putin for the last 2 years on his radio show, his a nutjob conspiracy theorist that thinks that a global secret group called the "illuminati" are trying to kill 95% of the world population, his a joke in america and not a good source, research his work before you put him on your russian news,

o please this russia today news shit is such fkin propganda.....its jsut not true the kind of shit they put out....the Western media had it right this channal is nothing but Rusdsia propganda...
And many of american channels is an American propoganda. Why does your country hate us? You declared the independence of Kosovo. We declared the independence of South Osetia and Abhazia. It's fair after georgian violence in these regions.
Target me first you Communist mother fuckers. Seriously, do you think we suspect our own Communist bankers before the Russian Communist bankers? Your New World America will fail before the propagandized American created order will fail.. WW3? Lets do this shit you mother fuckers!
As someone who loosely affiliates myself with the Libertarian "Party" (Now taken over by corporate interests), I would have to say seeing Russia using commercial, Jones, speech, means you have walked onto a person who claims principles, and Kisses some Major Ass to police, even while they are brutilizing young women. Either way, as an American who wants to be left alone, and witnessing the Commi takeover of our international trade, I saw bring on the nukes, we got our own.
Russia just defends its interests. Exactly the way US does. All that "high principles" statements are for masses who have 5 minutes per week to devote to international news. And create imaginary conflicts - honey for military industrial complex.
What was a top national security aide to Vice President Dick Cheney doing in Georgia shortly before Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili's troops engaged in what became a disastrous fight with South Ossetian rebels -- and then Russian troops? The Los Angeles Times reports that the vice president's office had nothing to do with a military operation that some have said suggests a renewal of the Cold War.
A brilliant description of Alex Jones from a website that totally debunked 911 mistruth lunatics like Jones.
Maybe we should steer clear of any mention of September 11, 2001 and just agree that 19 Arab hijackers (some of whom the BBC interviewed a week later) bypassed a $40 billon security apparatus. Some of your lunatics are rather passionate about the issue. Popular Mechanics is a fine periodical (btw).
Who could be more serious and better informed about the dirt of government than Alex Jones! He doesn't give a shit on establishment interests which makes him a trustful American AND EVEN Journalist! All the mainstream puppet journalists are rubbish.
The only problem I see here is that he is being abused to support the other dirty government which is in Russia. After these deaths of free journalists in and outside Russia I do not trust that government, too.
In a volatile Eurasia, the immediate task is to ensure that no state or combination of states gains the ability to expel the United States or even diminish its decisive role. (Zbigniew Brzezinski, A Geostrategy For Eurasia, Foreign Affairs, 1997).
American corporate socialist entanglements among media outlets reveal the presence of self-serving business biases that alter what content is or is not included within news programming. ABC/CBS/NBC/CNN/FOX are run directly by the Corporate Socialists on Wall Street and Madison Avenue with their scripts reviewed and edited by the Pentagon/CIA.
Mary Pat Flaherty reports in the Washington Post that flawed voting software, as of March 2008, is still in place (that mistakes are not immediately apparent, according to Premier Election Solutions, formerly known as Diebold, remedies to the problem will be in place for the November presidential election).
SURE. . .these "remedies" will be in place for the November election. . .there IS A REASON a huge percentage of Americans DO NOT VOTE. They realize their two parties are wings on the SAME BIRD.
VOTING IS MORE POINTLESS NOW THAN EVER BEFORE, with electronic "controlled" voting.
I thought US believe in freedom. If South Ossetians & Abkhazians want independence and freedom, then the US should recognize them. It is call Freedom and Democracy. I salute this 2 states for their declaration for freedom.

It is better for the military to handle illegal enemy combatant Islamonazis caught on the battlefield engaging our troops than to give them civilian OJ trials and the presumption of innocence, and to force the military to try to enforce subpoenas on foreign battlefields and read Miranda rights to every Islamonazi.
American citizens have always had their full constitutional rights.

Russian enclaves. That's right. Abkhazia and Ossetia are not seeking for the beloved independence but for dependence on Russian Federation. I wonder how long it will take to change the melody coming from Kremlin so we could hear these separatist regions want to be part of Russia.
As for Russia Today I can't stop laughing. You take some brainwashed internet conspiracy theorists and put them on the news.
You dumbfuck. How can a conspiracy theorist, who by definition would only believe in their own beliefs and thoughts, be brainwashed? I don't know if your retardedass comment makes you feel good about yourself or vice versa, a total idiot? Use your brain before you open your mouth next time.
Free press is available on the internet. If you watch Western Controlled Biased TV at least watch Russian News TV to get a fair balanced view. In the days of the Cold War it may have been the USSR that lied to its citizens the most - but today the tables are turned. Russia is the voice of reason and freedom.

Show me one American, not an AlQaeda member such as Padilla or Hamdi, that has been detained and had their rights violated?
There are none.

Similar senario for Iran.
