I paid £4 for a 10ft ps3 cable by monster and the fact is that the ps3 uses a simple, very common, mini USB cable whereas the xbox has it's own specialised cable which costs about £10 to buy with a battery which the ps3 controller already has built in. It's just better.

I didnt get a cable with my 360, but I did with my ps3(of course because to need one). if you had to buy a cable seperately, the ps3 does offer a longer one I believe.
