right now I'm working with the dude that just got inside the LD8, we don't have baby goat stories but we do have a passenger who was suposed to take her baby off the stroller so the stroller can be checked...she goes it, sits down, leaves baby alone by baggage chute...forgot her kid! Then tells us, "weren't u gonna throw the stroller down the chute?" we're like yeah...but you keep the baby, baby does not go in the cargo. She seemed upset about that. Ha ha ha
yesterday flts xld, severe storms, passenger yells at our agent 4 a room, he says "sir, sorry but we can't give u a room, it's not our fault, all flts xld due 2 severe weather". Passenger screams, "U SHOULD'VE STOPPED THE WEATHER!!! Y DIDN'T U STOP THE WEATHER!!??!!".. everyone was flabbergasted! later on we offered the guy a cot and blanket and he started screaming "shut up ! shut up! and flipped us off"... we just had to laugh and say.. "have a good night sir". sheesh.. what a loony :)

@MacThizzit I knew handlers who did it every time they found a camera, among 100 other wierd and funny things rampees did to amuse themselves. Pack a camera in a bag and fly a few times, eventually it will either be A.- Stolen or B.- picture 121 of 200 will be of a strange dudes schwanschtucker when you show your vacation to grandma.
My wages were excellent,and thats a moot point.Bags are overpacked,and no matter how many you handle carefully in time you get desensitized to them and hate them.You would be no different.Pack your bag accordingly and assume it will get thrown and dropped,if you pack breakables you are an idiot anyway.Keep packing valuables too,I like to steal them when your overstuffed bag splits open.
I worked at AA from 95 to 01 and treated the baggage just like they do.Once you lug these overpacked pigs all damn day and have to go through a whole AKN storage can just to find 1 specific bag for a guy who wants his bag back you stop caring.I loaded 120-230 bags on average per flight I worked at 6 flights a day,and the average weight of those bags was approaching 50 pounds,international was 90 pounds.Throw those bags down a 20 foot cargo bay to stack them and you get tired.Screw your luggage.

9 times out of 10 it's because the idiot check-in agent mis-tagged a bag, a passenger shows up and decides not to fly after his bag has been checked in and loaded, or a passenger opts to give up his seat when a flight is overbooked.
Doesn't mean they put a bag on the wrong wrack...most likely the passenger didn't show up, or didn't want to fly for some reason...and then they HAVE to take the bag out.

I agree....those "cans" are going on a widebody international flight (translation: big plane)and its a MAJOR headache pulling out 30 bags to search for 1 or more bags because someone was too stupid to make get to their gate on time. Once the bag is finally found, then its an even bigger headache when the gate graciously decides to let the person on board.

A bag pull is necessary to prevent someone from buying a ticket, checking in a bomb, and then not boarding the plane.
Seems to me like they aren't doing much to protect the baggage handlers from a potential bomb. Just sayin'.
