  • @TiKondaRoga There is a modified 2011 STi in the 7s around the nurburgring. There isn't a stock STi in the 7's though. The CTS-V is faster than the STi in all forms of performance stock for stock but its also $25,000 more.

  • The CTS-V is a monster. A powerhouse that many will agree, has beaten the M5... however, this swap is crazy and deserves respect. This doesn't mean ALL IS300s are like this, but this specific setup moves crazy. Much respect. Both cars are great.

The cts-v is a bad ass car already, stock, and with a turbo will be breathtaking. Pull off your poweradder and line up against a plain v6 cts and you'd still probably get embarassed.   • @swillamanilla the motor was built for boost. Most high powered cars use power adders. Not everyone wants a 7L V8 and doing a GTE swap is extremely cheap for an IS300 because it shares the same motor as the 2JZ.

  • Used 1st generation CTS-V is less than $20K folks. You may be thinking of the new/current V that runs $59K+. There are a lot of relatively low priced modifications [intake] that can be made tot he LS6 engine and it's a beast. The car handles better than the IS and is obviously faster in a straight line as well: there are plenty of sub-12 qtr times with less than $4K in mods.

  • @nickv11763 I'd agree to a point. For street use, a 5.0 GT (Ford) or an LS series engine is def the way to go!! No waiting 5 years for boost to kick in. I guess the big point for me is that a nice IS300 will set you back 8-10K w/ a turbo system, 6K installed in Orlando. Other than that, V-8 for me.

  • Not when you factor in the price of the mods to the IS. You can get a used CTS-V well under 20K. Take a used IS, and factor in all the mods you need, and it's not as lopsided as you say.

    Now buy a V, and put the same money in engine mods as the IS has, and see how lopsided it is.

  • @03basesedan You doubt that the CTS-V would have topped out @ a higher speed? FYI, the CTS-V top speed is 175mph (for the automatic) and 191mph (with the manual). Something I just googled said that a 2JZ's top speed is 167mph.

    However the goal was to make an all new CTS-V. Not beating an M5 as fast as possible.

    If in two years BMW beats the CTS-V, I assure you, it has taken them at least 5 years to get that car from the designing board to production.
