I listened to a recording of a youtube indie artist ..and I was wondering if you had any insight as to how he created such a clean / fresh sound. Is it possible to do without any fancy mics or preamps?
The video is titled:
"Stay With Me" ft. Melissa Polinar (FULL VERSION - Record out MARCH 24th!)
@GwenDUff hm, i just heard the song and the sound is really good. i guess that he engineered it a bit afterwards. theres also a bass line that sounds kind of synthetic.
if you wanna improve the soundscape of your recordings i recommend using digital tools, i.e. a compressor and equaliser. the oxford native eq is great for example. thing is its expensive, so for starters you might wanna look for free ones. and if you dont know how to use them just check youtube for tutorials.
#1 I recorded an acoustic guitar strumming an A major chord.
#2 I added the Melodyne DNA plugin (VST)
#3 I pressed the "transfer" button and pressed play.
#4 What you are seeing is what I see in the program. It shows me the individual notes of the chord (A, C#, & E) ... which I can then move around as I please.
This is really just the most basic thing you can do with this program... If I wasn't having problems with capturing I'd do something better.
Sorry but this video really isn't any good... you;re just showing moving one note from major to minor which is nothing new.. you can do that in ANY midi editor. It would be a lot more help if you showed how to get into DNA, as the ceremony website is SHIT and tells you nothing
@stoph2 Um... but this isn't a MIDI editor - this is an acoustic guitar I recorded... get it? With Melodyne DNA you can move around actual recorded sound just like a MIDI editor. The fact that you are mistaking this for a MIDI editor should give you some idea of how fucking amazing this program is. I actually got a real kick out of your comment after I realized what you were saying...
@stoph2 "if you showed how to get into DNA" --- this is DNA... this is what it looks like. It looks like a MIDI editor. But it's not. This is a recording of an acoustic guitar... I did try to make this clear --- but I guess I can see where you are coming from. I still can't believe what this program can do sometimes. It's amazing how much shit has advanced in the last 10 years.
