People have to realize that the report done by accounting firm Ernst and Young was JUST released, and it shows that film dollars DO benefit Michigan beyond just jobs for crew members. Gov. Snyder needs to see not only that the incentives make sense for Michigan- but there was a commitment made to develop this industry 3 years ago that must be honored. The legislature passed the incentives by voting 140 to1 against. NO industry will take Michigan seriously if the incentives are killed now.
The townhall meeting was very Inspirational! The Speeches of Philippe Martinez , Jeff Daniels and the others was exactly what we need to hear to get this fight started!
so many people came to show their support that they were forced to turn people away by the hundreds. This is something the people here in Michigan support and stand behind whole heartedly. We have let our politicians and legislators drive away industry after industry. Enough is enough Michigan needs jobs. Lets not let another budding industry slip away and stand idly by only to watch our once great state die a slow and painful death. Get involved send a letter or an e-mail to your legislators.
I attended this town hall meeting to show my support for the film industry and all it has to offer to the people here in Michigan. The speakers were well prepared and well informed, it was a very educational experience. The organizers of this town hall meeting expected maybe 700 people to attend but still they printed out 1200 pamphlets to distribute to those who came to show their support for this issue. Well let me tell you there were approximatively 4000 people crammed into this hall.
