a lot of great features that steve didn't even mention! Like being able to use your computer keyboard to record, and that you can tamper with each individual note's length and volume after you're done recording. Such a great app for music lovers like myself, great for scoring powerpoints and short films, both of which I have done with this app.
you can only use a keyboard for the software instruments. you can plug into the computer with either a microphone or your instrument using the mic port on any mac. i've actually recorded guitar straight to garage band by plugging it in that way.

This is a great app... but what I don't like is that now it is way too easy to make music... everyone with a mac can now be a musician and make decent songs.... kinda disturbing for real musicians.
The first time I used a Mac, I opened up GarageBand, and spent the entire time just playing the different instruments. It was so easy and some of the sounds were so great, I got hooked even though I'm not a musician. GarageBand makes me want to be one lol.
Well Garage band is basically a slightly toned down version of Logic studio which is what all music recording studios use today and is brilliant for all music things. Ur better off to save up for a iMac and get that coz garage band is all part of iLife.
you really should try and get one if you play an instrument garageband was the reason why i looked into buying a mac once i got one i realized they have so much other great software
get a yamaha motif rack!!i can tell that its better and has more instruments cause ive has garageband before and its not as good as the yamaha motif rack!!
I'll make you a deal: I'll buy the product you promote, if you learn how to use complete sentences and punctuation the next time you promote something.
you can get a midi controller and buy the same exact generic yamaha motif sounds on a disk for like a hundred bucks. with a DAW you can be way way more selective with MIDI sounds. the motif just gives you tons of junk sounds that are only good for pop music and has no mixing capabilities.
it's SO frustrating, as a Windows XP user and amateur guitarist, trying so many music editors and never finding the right one. GarageBand seems to be so user friendly. I wanna switch to a MacBook asap!!!
