Basically the UK original version isn't as dumbed down as the ones created for the American market. As with all decent TV shows, the first season is the best then as usual it all goes to crap... case-in-point, Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares.
I realise I may be in a minority of one, but I actually felt sorry for the head chef of this restaurant. Sure, he was clueless, of course he was. But neither he, nor the woman who was his boss were the real villains. That title belongs to the catering college/department which 'trained' the head chef and gave him his qualification. It's a shame it wasn't named and shamed in the programme.
Catering colleges don't grant 'executive chef' titles to anyone. You study, you get a qualification stating you've demonstrated proficiency in skills required to work in a professional kitchen.
Assuming Tim went to college (improbable; he started out washing dishes, and there is no mention of a formal education), he would be qualified to go into a kitchen as a Commis, or a de Partie at best.
mate, you cant run one kitchen, never mind three restaurants in leeds, london, and new york! foooool

@IbnShahid Agreed, but on the other hand, you're kind of asking for it if you're a dumb 21-year-old shit who annoints himself exec chef, no?
