  • maybe he saw a good looking female and forgott time and wanted to get done faster?

  • I have always had immense respect for people who can turn their lives around and get off drugs or alcohol or indeed any addiction . There is plenty of sympathetic help these days and no one , repeat no one should end up dead before their time if they will accept that they have a problem and seek out that help !!

  • Rip the audio from this song at thetunify doht cohm.

  • 9/4/1983 is what the video says.

The Reading festival was August. April is BEFORE August.

If this video wasn't in April, why say that it was?

  • In America, 9/4/1983 is September 4, 1983.

    I'm American. That's how I write dates.

  • @CDeeRoll was there sitting up where good adolph gave his speeches, was sep '03, meatloaf, twisted sister, BOC, motorhead, whitesnake and of course thin lizzy.....soldiers field.....i have pics if ya need proof

  • You could tell before Thunder and Lightning that there were problems within the band. Scott Gorham had to fix his guitar and that is when you hear Phil say "Are you readY?" This was one of my first concerts I attended while stationed in Germany. The line up was Twisted Sister, Motorhead, Saxon, Meatloaf, Thin Lizzy, BOC and Whitesnake. I remember when after BOC played, there was a huge rush to the left hand stage and I almost got trampled. But WHAT A GREAT FUCKIN CONCERT!!!! RIP PHIL!!!!

  • whered he screw up in the verse?

  • I was there for this concert as I was stationed in Germany with the army at the time-also on the festival bill was Meatloaf,Twisted Sister,Motorhead,Whitesnake, and probably others I forgot,I mean , shit, this was almost 26 years ago, lol.

  • do you like germany

  • BAD-ASS song. Phil rocked it hard and this Band kicked it out !

  • What happened to Phil? Can anyone comment?

  • Wikipedia:

Lynott's last years were dogged by drug and alcohol dependency, and on the night of 25 December 1985, he was rushed to hospital suffering from a kidney and liver infection.[2] He died of heart failure and pneumonia on 4 January 1986 at the age of 36.[2]

Adding to this, Lynott got Hepatitis in 1976 and was told by doctors that he couldn't drink alcohol again. His liver was shot. He told everyone else that he only had to stop for a year. Heroin was also a big part of it.

  • may he rest in peace.

  • Comment removed

  • @blacksabfan He used to inject heroin into his feet so he could lie to his mother and others - " Look I'm no junkie - showing his bare arms !! He had many abscesses internally which were also "invisible. I blame him entirely for accidentally off-ing himself - silly person!!

Could he not see what we would have to endure without him !! Take a note of what I've said 'cos there ain't no rock'n'roll when you're dead !!

  • @izzydye heroin abuses often times get internal infections or abscesses - basically a pocket of puss and infection. those infections cause sepsis which is basically when your blood is carrying infection all over your body. that infected blood traveling through his body and organs basically caused multiple organ failure. his heart, liver, and kidneys were probably not strong to begin with due to years of alcohol and drug abuse.

a sad, sad end to a truly brilliant artist.

  • @Plasticsoul that was supposed to be "heroin abusers"

  • @Plasticsoul - I said something similar above !!

  • One of the greatest bands ever, also one of the most underated bands ever.but the underated bands are the best bands, like UFO, Tommy Bolin,Pat Travers band,Max Webster,Status Quo,Frank Zappa, but like Thin Lizzy these bands are among my favorite bands.

  • @STRATCAT101 When bands get too much anything they are ruined !! Look at U2 , or Bon Jovi with their ticket prices !!

  • @STRATCAT101 Sorry to say so but, Max Webster was my first and worst concert experience in that at the age of 16 years old I can only, to this day, remember "No cigarettes? - No matches!" The rest is a mind numbing ear ringing blur. Max Webster warmed up Rush, which in that day had no better sound system and I'm forever sensitive to ... Umm... whatdya say?. Correction - I went to sleep at the age of twelve to the rhythms of a King Sunny Ade concert.

  • Oh man,I´ve been on this concert!!

do you have more from this show?

  • thanx for posting that

  • Ha Ha...Good old Phil.

    He always recovered well !!!!!

    Classic.
