I love this. When i was a kid the music in this game scared the shit out of me. When they play it here in that slow motion broken beat its haunting.

@TheRealKoop He actually broke his bass pedal halfway through the song(which slowed them down). The show was amazing Haunting yes, it reaches the far corners of my inner child's subconscious. the game was so intimidating when I was a kid, never beat it without the code. Thanks for your comment!

@themadmallard I agree. Its one of those things that unless you understand they took the time to work it out and make it SOUND BROKEN. Which is no easy feat, there is a difference between fucking up and making it sound broken.

Hearing these songs again gives me the chills. Those hours in the dark trying to get through every stage. Making maps for myself because some of those rooms looked EXACTLY the same. Then the way they slowed the music down reminds me of the NES-Lag...to much on the screen caused slowdown of everything. Wow...this really takes me back. That was a long time ago.

I don't know if they do, but check out Metroid Metal for a great heavy version of the whole Metroid soundtrack, including the intro. The Advantage is my favourite all-around game band, but MM puts a pretty cool twist on Metroid tunes. It's mostly just one guy playing all the parts, and he's a fairly awesome guitarist.

It's just metroidmetal period calm... I think you can figure it out ;) There's also tunes from Super Metroid and the Prime series there as well, but it started with an attempt to cover every last piece of music from the original game. (YouTube does still ban comments with urls in them, right?)
