Read the true Hebrew Tanakh. Israel is Hashem's firstborn. Get a Bible from the Jewish Publication Society and you will see the difference in the Western/European translations. The real verse says: "they shall lament to Me (Hashem) about those who are slain, wailing over them as over a favorite son and showing bitter grief as over a first-born." Read in context the entire chapter and the ones before and after. Shalom.

The Septuagint and the Talmud, b. Sukkah 52a; the Targumic renders it correctly. If you know Hebrew, the subject is SINGULAR not plural. It's not lament but "look". Strict interpretation is "When they look on ME whom they have pierced... they shall mourn for (alayw)HIM. It is simple grammar. Who is the ME,HIM? Verse 2,3,4,6,9 shows in CONTEXT who is the subject.
