Please someone help me out. I downloaded the dump and the app, and I got pretty far, the wiki logo appears on my springboard, it says, "Embark" Is it supppose to say that. If I click on it, it just goes back to the springboard. Whats going on. I downloaded the whole file, I set the permissions just like the video said. I tried turning my ipod touch off and on, it's jailbroken, 2.2. What does he mean when he says "make sure they are set recursively"? Please help me out.

That means that the files INSIDE the folders need to have the same rights as the folder itself.

Wish I can find a webpage related to solving problems for this app. After trial and error on figuring out how to get it to show up on my springboard, I finnal got it after reseting the itouch. I go to the wikipedia app. It brings me to the don't panic page. And freezes there. After a minute it'll bring me back to the springboard. Anyone know how to solve this?

I have finally found a cure for the wikipedia freezing problem. Well

it worked for me at least.

Steps:

Make sure the wp folder and wikipedia.app have transferred over to the

ipod in full. I used Filezilla to do this.

The connection may drop off so it may take a few attempts until the

full file has transferred.

Wikipedia articles can be change by any-user visiting the site and it happens every second, ppl should knew this.. thats why is not worth it having a whole application that does not have updated articles. i prefer to get online and save the page on my home screen... instead of having a 2Gb app!!!

just set the permission on all the files in wikipedia.app and the dump to 0755. Every single file in the filders to 0755. Just worked for me

Just a heads up, make sure you go to the settings and edit the Auto-Lock setting to "Never" while transferring over the 2 gig file... I know it sounds like common sense, but a lot of people (including myself) had this problem (albeit briefly)

to ssh you need to download openssh from installer. i recommend getting the app services in installer also it allows you to toggle ssh on or off. you need a wifi connection and a progam that allows you to ssh in to your ipod. winscp is free and easy find out what your ip address is fill that in the first slot and when it asks for username its root and your password is alpine. if done correctly you will login and ssh you ipod.
