i total agree but this year the voting was mixed up there was some parlitical/regional voting. Music here really is focused on cheap pop and much worse genres, plus, people of my age, around 16 and 17, who claim to be conversant with all sorts of music have never heard about, say, most popular metal bands. Seriously, the nation is so hermetically locked and isolated from anything good.

Yes, this country isn't ready to back up any art projects even if they're aimed at universal events where everything is financed by governments. Or, like you said, it simply cuts them off. I know several (by now famous) artists who tried making performances in prominent art events like Biennale, but they were disabled to do so, so that in the end the government could send someone whose project is cheaper. Or just that - cheap. As for the rare individuals, they all eventually escape from here. :D
