  • @jase246 no... it is not an embarrassment that a 4 cylinder 2.5L ( to be correct) with ( wiseco pistons, port and polished heads, gt30r turbo running 24lbs of boost, perrin exhaust and a ton of other things done to it) As you can see in the video description, can shred a STOCK 440 with solid steel crank and a flowmaster 40 series system.... you can learn a lot by reading the description and how it is normal for the sti to win with all those modification

Now my brothers 31 model A hotrod would be a totally different story ;)

    when inherited my dads El Camino (it's 1970 too) the first week i brought it home i had three different random dudes just stopped by asking if it was for sale,Its no junker but it's no show car either,bit of rust,fading paint showing its factory color,missing trim and badges,has a chevelle front bumper,a bunch of other little things and i still love it like a family member.

Its the first and only car i bought and own with my own money. Im doing a frame off resto mod, doing 90% of the work myself, my own blood sweat and tears, the $13,000 bucks Ive made working since i was 9 under the table. This car is going to mean so much to me when its done. =)

Im gunna drive it around cruising during the summers, to car shows, swap meets, or whenever I feel like it. It will get a couple chances to show off on the ocal drag strip. and Hey, if it gets scratched, Ive done everything once to it, i can handle fixing it on my own =)

When comparing two V8 engines (Euro vs American) Euros create a shit load more bhp and lorque then the american, example is every Benz V8 and Audi V8. But on the down side if you have no money youll be buying a non euro.   • @canadianus not to mention its way easier for the average guy to work on the older muscle cars. My charger was built 40yrs ago, show me the german equivilant that can handle from over 40yrs ago. Also today they have suspension upgrades for muscle cars that help them handle like sports cars( look at enzo ferrari vs cuda). They used drag strip because in the USA we have allot of straight roads. My car puts out 800hp on pump gas without forced induction can you say that about yours?

  • @ballmeblazer22able your soarly mistaken. awd sti with motor mods, makes 303hp stock! with the pistons and polished heads most likely makin closer to 350-375 with upgraded turbo. so it has more horse power and the drive terrain to get the power to the ground. lastly its much lighter! so in all aspecs the sti wins.

  • @907tacokid I have owned both cars, the sti weighs over 3000lbs the charger 3600. The impreza has different engine varitations and so does the charger. I would bet this charger is running a 318,360 or 383. This sti is definitly modded running maybe 375 hp the charger maybe running 335hp. Now if they ran the top charger vs top sti, the charger would win. My sti was modded and ran around 400hp, my charger has a hemi. My charger would spank my sti easily. both nice cars,but get your aspecs straight

And the sti is the top subaru against the 440 charger which isnt the best engine mopar has its second best.I have owned both cars and love them both, each fun in its own way. The sti can out handle my charger, when it comes to drag racing my sti would have been a small dot in the rear view mirror of my charger. Keep learning kido, you have a long way to go yet.

  • @68chargerlover your funny, not a thing i said insinuates that i need to "keep learning" all of my specs that i posted are fairly close (i have not seen all the specs of the cars so i cant be dead on!) other than my misspelling of the word liter i was true to my post and it was close to being proper. when i said top car against top car i was meaning modded. not stock. and yes i am young and need to learn more but not in this situation. i am well educated in this situation.

HP back then isn't like HP today, you can't compare the numbers because of the major lack of efficiency stock cars had back then compared to now (ie. drive train loss). There's no way that old charger (STOCK) can beat most decent sports cars today. An sti with 24psi on a gt30r is probably kicking out 400+whp (550ish at the flywheel) Not a chance in heaven or hell did that charger have a chance.

  • 440's can put out a ton of power stock, but because of the weight 300-375HP isn't much for it. That's why you see STi's with no more than 700HP and Charger's with 800-1300HP. Without the weight the STi with a 800HP engine will not get much grip.

  • @TheKneekap for instance on my 383, I put in a Tremec 5 speed Trans with a Keisler kit, Edelbrock intake manifold, a holley 750cfm dual feed carb, with a 3.55:1 posi rear. some other work of course, but I wont get into everything. That STI would have been nothing but a rear view memory, and besides NOS and blue printing the engine, that STI is probably about peaked. There is so much more I could have gotten out of the 383.

  • Chargers were to heavy to be street racers. Everyone knows that. That's why Mopar put out the Daytona 500. Less weight, More Areo. I mean.. Put maybe $7,000 into the 440 and it would be winning, or at least close.

Chrysler put out the Daytona not the Daytona 500 for Nascar because the charger was to fast and the front came off the ground and needed downforce so they could control the car the Daytona sucked on the street because of the extra weight NOT less weight... The Charger 500 was made before the Daytona to try to improve the chargers aerodynamics but failed so they added the nose and the rear wing to improve downforce and glue the car to the ground.
