Music like this convinces me that Italian music, on the whole, is not at all inferior to German music, regardless what the narrow-minded musicologists say. In many ways, it is better: better lyricism, less rigidity, far more expressivity and warmth. German composers were more prolific, and their pieces are more complex, but in the grand scheme of things, people should realize composers like Corelli, Albinoni, and particularly, PALESTRINA, are equal to Bach, Mozart, etc.
@MVGN21, Montiverdi and Scarlatti are two of my favorite composers. All the ones you listed are great composers...in my opinion, Palestrina might be the greatest composer ever to live. I don't know how he does it, but every time I listen to a piece by him, I'm moved beyond words. I cannot say the same of any German composer...though the Russians, French and British composers are also great. But German composers, on the whole, suck! :)
Arcangelo Corelli, what a master of the art! By far my favorite work of Corelli, stunning, uplifting, so detailed and intricate, like cascading waves of light dancing on the water...God I love this piece ...Corelli surely was touched by God when he wrote this. The perfomance is outstanding, the acoustics sound so full and rich. Thank you very much for sharing such a lovely work.

I heard L'aura Soaves concert in Vienna 9th of April. Magnificent playing. Specially Nicholas in the Handel sonata for violin basoon and BC. The last piece a basoon concerto by Vivaldi with improvised Fandango effects in the violins was also very innovative. I consider Sergiu Azzolini a master and Nicholas Robinson as one of the most interesting baroque violinists of our days. His playing technique looks very natural. Never since David Oistrakh have I seen such a relaxed player!

Nice position of the ripieno witch makes the contrasts very well worked out. Splendid acoustic in this church. More movements of same concerto please !
What really makes this so beautiful is the way all the players use voicing in such refined and creative ways. They build a magnificent church, with all of the architecture, out of each chord and passage.
I would LOVE it if L'aura Soave recorded all of the Corelli Concerti Grossi. Judging by this performance, it would be the best recording of these pieces ever made.
It's a cool arrangement to bring the concertini forward (even if the ripieni are all squashed in together at the back there!) cuz that way you get the left-right antiphony when things are passed between primo and secondo parts, but also forward-back antiphony between the concertino and ripieno parts. Quadruphonic sound! Shame Youtube only gives us stereo...
The visual metaphor of excitement in the score is matched by the metaphor of excitement in this outstanding presentation! This is perfection far past its absolute! Cheers!!!!!
Biondi plays this very fast, but L'aura Soave plays this piece with love, affection, and sensitivity. There's something very radiant about the way they play this, and indeed, the way they play everything. Biondi's orchestra lacks these things. It's fine for you to love him, but let's be clear: this group has a sensitivity in the way they play that Europa Galante does not.
Biondi plays this Concerto too fast, expecially the first measures. I suggest you to listen another very good performance of all Corelli's Concerti Grossi made by Ensemble 415 (if you haven't listen yet), but this rendition of the 4th Concerto is the best!
Exquisite sound with just the perfect tempo - this is usually played much too fast. This ensemble provides the dignity this piece demands. Where are these players from?
Ithas a dance movement (3rd part) as dances types were presents eveninchurch sonatas or concerti, and 4thpart it's notadagio,it's allegrowith a fasterCoda. It's a nice interpretation, the guy and orchestra mainly.

Concerto da chiesa, I think, because in all its 4 movements it doesn't have dance style. The sequence isn't exactly the one of the sonata da chiesa (adagio, allegro, adagio, allegro) but it is near to it (adagio/allegro, adagio, allegro, adagio).
This is the best version i ever saw of this Concerto. The sound, the "tessitura", the instruments, makes you go back to Corelli's time. Their disposition is similar to some pictures of Corelli's Concerti performed in Piazza di Spagna in Rome. Please add more videos, and tell me who's playing! Greattings from Buenos Aires, Argentina...
This is just fantastic! A magnificent interpretation of one of Corelli's best works and the sound of those instruments is just divine. The male violinist, interestingly, has a very baroque technique. he doesn't use his fingers much in his bowing hand as a modern violinist would for playing fast passages or sautielle. Absolutely brilliant!
This is an excellent performance of this piece. My school orchestra performed this and I listened to it every morning when I walked in. I love it how they have all of the baroque instruments in the church. Please do not remove this video because it brings me confidence and inspires me.
Arcangelo Corelli. This is great! I echo archerchan22........Wow!
Love it.

you can sort of get an idea of a baroque style bow by holding it fromthe middle-ish (above the 'frog')
wow...its excellent!

Fantastic i love this concerto aside from Corell's christmas concerto grosso

This is just fantastic! A magnificent interpretation of one of Corelli's best works and the sound of those instruments is just divine. The male violinist, interestingly, has a very baroque technique. he doesn't use his fingers much in his bowing hand as a modern violinist would for playing fast passages or sautielle. Absolutely brilliant!

This is an excellent performance of this piece. My school orchestra performed this and I listened to it every morning when I walked in. I love it how they have all of the baroque instruments in the church. Please do not remove this video because it brings me confidence and inspires me.
