I have the same strategy when I race, last place and try not to fall down. Most the time I won't race in very muddy conditions, don't want to seize up the bike.
sweet vid man. i race and practice with all those guys you were lined up with. i used to ride 250 b but i ride innovation now because its alot more fun that getting in fights in b class. im number 492 or 152 on a old 86 kx 125 or 79 kx 250.maybe ill see you around next season man.
I need to take another video when it is not raining and the track is dry - my technique would be much better on a dry track - although not particularly good. If I stood up on the pegs with 6 inches of slick mud - I wold have fallen over instantly.
you gotta be kidding. you can ride alone and have more fun. just a bit of advice..when racing try standing up on the pegs. what a waste of a good vintage machine.
Yes - that day was very very slippery - so I was sitting down a lot just so I could catch myself before I would fall. The rain and mud kind of make the whole thing comical rather than a serious ride.
Yes - there are multiple classes - where I ride, there is a class called Innovation for bikes 1989 and older. I am in a class called Evolution which is 1981 and older. Real Vintage is 1974 and older.
Parts are not too bad. I found a few places that have the full factory diagrams and most of the small parts are available. The parts that wear (brake, clutch, etc) are all pretty easy to get.
This video is awesome... I'm not an old guy... But with my moto skill this looks like it would actually be fun for me! I'm good in the woods nobody can keep up with me through tight trails usually... But I hate big jumps from too many broken bones in my early teens! This looks like a blast though haha. Out of curiosity how hard are parts to get for that PE?
That what it is all about is having fun

Great video. Don't listen to the young trolls posting here - they couldn't ride a vintage motocross bike; no cell phone attachment!
I raced from 73-77 up in michigan. I'm thinking about getting a vintage bike and joining the fun.

Pussies! In finland we really race with these old mx bikes.

I would have been going much faster if not for the rain. But even at my fastest - I am sure that you ride much faster.

would a 1987 kdx bike count as vintage for most races?
