  • Christ...from the first second this song starts i get a positive wave down my spine of pure bliss and calm......i feel sorry for the kids these days....they will never know good music...im just 28

  • I Love both versions of this song, theirs and Aaliyah's (she made it sound even more exellent than the original). But i couldn't pick between which version is my favorite

  • as much as i can understand the whole mr big thing. it did wonders for his exposure to the new generation, and help his pockets, but if i go to a show i dont want mr big with a cane. i want tight ass jumsuits afros and gold medallions

  • Love Isley version but as a man I prefer Liyah's version. lol. I dont think the comparison is fair anyway since Liyah was so young when she recorded it and a singers vocals dont really mature until their mid 20s-30s. If Liyah sang this today -- forget it. It would be off the racks.

  • Drizzy

  • Seriously if you can't listen to the Aaliyah version of this song and clearly hear that it is remake of an Isley Brothers songs you need to study your lessons (as my pops would say).

  • @obatron1 word. i had never heard this version and already assumed the aaliyah version was a isley brothers cover.. the beat is sooooooooo isley brothers its crazy

  • lindo

  • Back in 1994 I was a dumb 12 year old who thought Aaliyah sang this first. Even looked @ her liner notes and believed the Isleys wrote this song just for her. Wrong! I was just a baby who didn't know a thing about classic music! LOL!

  • Ronald still putting it down the youth cant do it like that, its a damn shame an elder

has to coninue holding us down, because the artist of today, dont know how to make music like that strengthens relationships, plus alert those who are lost on whats happening

  • Mellow Melody :)

  • The Lyrics are so REAL....its like a conversation between 2 people put to beautiful music....anyone who has problems relating this to another person...could use this song to SPEAK FOR THEM......

  • This is music that "makes you think and appreciate" what you have in your mate! Men , appreciate your wives and/or your significant other while she's there b/c ifyou don't one day she'll be gone and there will be nothing you can do or say to bring her back!

  • i appreciate the isleys, real soul . but me personaly i felt aaliyahs solo cover more. she really loved this song her fav , that's why she put so much emotion in it. great song

  • Never heard this before today. Damn, this is cool. Always had an appreciation for The Isley Brothers, now more so.

  • this is beautiful... :)

  • Hey, no comparisons for me. All I know is that I love the original by my boys. This song has powerful lyrics, not to mention melody and delivery. Give it to me! : D Hey.....

  • get me some henny and some ribs,, ima spark the grill up banging this old school shit... rip real music

  • @homack313 PREACH BOY!!!!!!!

  • <3

  • wow!!!!

  • listening to isleys brothers is a good way to become a parent! hahaha

  • @nyblusaiyan LMAO!!!

  • @nyblusaiyan - They recently came out w/ a new album called "Baby Making Music".

  • @ButterflyQueene07 why so obvious? lol

  • i concur. It is rare that a remake is just as good as the original.Awesome!

  • well this goes out to my friend,PC.

  • my mom used to love to burst my bubble just because she grew up on all this musical goodness back in the day-when Aaliyahs cover cameout in the early 90's I 'd be like ahhhh I love that "new song" by aaliyah-she would be ike Girl shutup thats a Remake,Lol!!

  • @ShellsMusicboxx2 oh yea, how old are you now? #letmeknow hehee

  • Nothing can replace the original...but Aaliyah came very, very, very close....

  • Every song I hear on the t.v., movies, games, etc. I search and suddenly find out that the Isley brothers have either an original version or a version of their own and I always like it even more ! odd! love these guys

  • Why do ppl say that aaliyah's version is better? I think ppl side with which version they heard first. I heard aaliyah's version first but I like this one more, but also two different singers and two different feelings. Or maybe it is just well written?

  • This is absolutely superb but it's very rare when you hear a remake that is even better than the original, but Aaliyah's remake was stunning. But as I said, this is simply beautiful too.

  • have you guys heard of the Phillipines' version?

just search for "MYMP - at your best (you are love)" in youtube, you would probably find it.

it's also very nice, and also sort of a "softer, female, acoustic" version of it ^^

  • @AquariusLove100 ---aliyah's version was sweet--all of Aliyah's music was sweet because she was a beautiful person --inside and out--but Isley music is soul strumming--gets you way down deep--makes you arch your back when Ronnie gets to those parts--can that man cry a song or what? I give them both their due--but Aliyah (rest her soul and bless her heart) is not in the same league as the Isley brothers and neither is the music that accompanied her singing--that is just TRUTH. Sorry.

  • now aaliyah is one of my favorite female singers but never does a remake sound better than the original. espcecially not better than the isleys.

  • @Queendom2011 True True and I love Aaliyah!!!!! Just shows you Aaliyah knew bout old school tunes. Love the song either way

  • Oh gosh, I didn't know Aaliyah stole this!!! :0

  • @Diva1stLady Uh...she sampled it. She sung it better too.

  • @KeesusChrist --not better--there speaks a loyalist to the new generation--nice to see such loyalty even if it is biased and misplaced--she did not sing it better--but she did sing it sweetly.

  • Oh and Teddy didn't pull this off.

  • This song once again for anyone to remake this it would not be the same, they can do a beautiful job at singing it but the Isley's were before their time to even come out with this song some 35 years ago I mean really if this song came out now for the first time it would be on point that's what makes this song original with the balladeers that were around when this came out and they didn't pull this off Smokey,Ojay's,Chilites,Stylistics,LTD,Maze,Marvin,Barry. The Isley's way before their time

  • @FLICOZY Yes, it still amazes me when I see Isley songs like this from '76 and still sounds upto date. They are timeless!

  • @FLICOZY --I think "Love ballad" would be a hit if sung now--and I think "Whats going on" would also be a hit and would be appropriate right now---a lot of the songs then were timeless and still would be hits--but the Isley Brothers will always be my favorite group, and Ronald Isley will always be the balladeer for babymaking music.

  • MISTA BIIIGGGGGGS!!!

  • i will never get sick of this song. aaliyah sang it lovely.

  • Niiiiiice.

  • woooo!! I Said GoD damm!! gave me goosebumps!

  • I dedicate this song to a very special lady who made an appearance in my life that I wish would be more... Let me know Mandi.....

  • Aaliyah's version is beautiful, but this is far too soulful even for Aaliyah, this version just speaks to the soul, Aaliyah's version is very appealing, but this version is for lovers, its just raw, its for the soul...

  • @3787811 I argue that yes Isley's version is very soulful but Aaliyah's version is just "pure" soul. There is a difference and to me these two version's are equal... one is not better than the other. Difference is that The Isley's are singing from a male perspective and Aaliyah is singing from a female's perspective. Ron Isley said that he loved Aaliyah's version and even said that it was her song now! That says so much about the respect he had for Aaliyah

  • @MrCarlosBanana Definitely both are beautiful and you can say they are equal from a non bias standard, the opinion i stated is purely mine so i hope you didnt take it as a final statement on the song for everone =) i definitely respect Aaliyahs version, the only thing is, i believe it would have sounded just as good out of mariah carey or countless other good vocalists, sure Aaliyah sang it, but this came out of the heart of the isley brothers and for me i just feel the soul out of this version

  • you can only modernize or destroy a song.....aaliyahs version is great but dont disrespect the source....cause to her, this song is probably untouchable. so instead of using better or worse why not pay respect to the template

  • Money!!!

  • with both the isley bros. and Aaliyah singing this song it made it universal

  • Such a nice song!

  • Can't get any better than this. Beautiful song!

  • Aaliyah and El Debarge sounded better singing this song in my opinion ! No disrespect to Ronald Isley cause he sang this song , not sing but SANG lol

  • @Armour2013 I didn't know El Debarge covered this song as well. Is it on one of his albums? I would love to hear it. Aaliyah put this joint to rest when she got done with it and at only 15 years of age.

  • One of the few songs where the cover did justice to a great original song. RIP AALIYAH

  • I believe that all the dislikes were mistakes and I forgive them…

I feel love for them anyway.

That, my friends, is the everlasting magic of the Brothers Isley.

  • @AquariusLove100 ... It might sound nice, but no one can sing this song as smooth or as intense as the Bros.

  • Puts my mind at ease :)

  • I agree! Both Artists Done it inna different smooth Way of music! Well Appreciated by both The Isleys & Aaliyah(RIP)!

  • I remember on Xmas Day 2000 I met Aaliyah and I told her this was her best song.. a remake of the Isley Brothers... RIP Baby Girl...

  • @daonly Awwww...what a sweet memory!!!!!

  • Awesome song

  • Awesome song

  • monster jam amazing vocals thanks mr. biggs

  • @AquariusLove100 That's impossible.

  • Just beautiful! Tune, lyrics the way the song is put together. A song listening to it you know right away that it will last the time. Thank you posting this classic.

  • This song is so good. It makes me cry it's so emotional and soulful. I love it.

  • I did not know they made this song

  • They are good but i like aaliyah's more!!

  • Real music sounds weird to me nowadays. Isley Brothers definitely qualifies as real music.

  • this song was meant for aaliyah it's no surprise her version was the most successful her voice goes well with the lyrics and the beat they re created

  • what a beautiful song

  • Signs that I'm a 90s baby because I definitely didn't know the isley brothers sung this

  • @SnoopiBabi They did! in 1976(Iwas 15 when this song was out)Aaliyah remade the song!

  • if i wore panties . . ron could sing them off

  • @blazed12many I hope you are a woman cause I sure like you! LOL!

  • @blazed12many no ! im a guy ! thats why i said IF i had panties !

  • @blazed12many lmao!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • This is how music should sound. Coherent.

  • I REALLY ENJOY THIS TYPE OF MUSIC IT APPEARS THAT EVERYTHING FALLS INTO PLACE I AM AT MY BEST THIS DAY MY BOYS ISLEY'S

  • oops I meant to push the like button! sorry

  • This is one of those songs that makes you, if you are older, remember where you were when you first heard it. I lost my virginity to this song, and that is a good memory. AAliyah remade the song and made me remember that good memory. Ron Isley and his brothers and cousin were the best. Many babies were made from their songs of love. I only wish to say Thank You Ron, and for helping me remember better days Thank You AAliyah my beautiful angel

  • Another smokin' Isley bros classic.Fantastic.

  • Who are the four idiots that disliked this song? They must be retarded!

  • @DubbleWhatchaPayd

Even then!!! Disliking the Isley brothers is like disliking who you are! Music shapes you and this is one of those songs that does you no harm at all, only benefit. Even the mentally challenged wouldn't dislike this on their own, I'm sure!!!

  • @DubbleWhatchaPayd .LMAO...i think u right

  • this is the best music in the world ,Aa;iyah did this version and she sound great !!!

  • WOW! I can't tell which ones better, Aahliyah's version or this one, all I know is I would definitly listen to both of them with no problems. Great music.

  • @mrduggery Absolutely spot on!

  • i think i like this version more then Aaliyah's.

    Althought , I Love aaliyah's version.

this one is more soulful, and relaxinq(:

im layinq down here day dreaminq with this song

  • Love this classic. Real talk. Young ones, take notes. This is how it should be done. After Ron, Smokey, Al, and the remaining ballad masters have moved to higher ground, who will carry the torch? Young ones, take notes and work hard. we're waiting on you.

  • @Streamline09 U Forgot Marvin :)

  • @SiisiiLovESMJ I thought about him and others that have gone on (Jackie, Sam, Otis, Curtis, Dinah, Phyllis, etc.), but I decided to focus on those who are still here because they are living witnesses to and carriers of this particular form of artistic expression. Oh, and please include Gladys and Ree. Of the younger generation, I'm heartened by the tradition-conscious, creative spirits of Janelle Monae, Raphael Saadiq, Lauryn Hill, Musiq Soulchild, Jill Scott, Maxwell, and yes, R. Kelly. Thanks.

  • Damn the jam oooo i wish my boo wasnt at work rite ni

  • Beatiful song, Ronald u and ur Brothers have out done urselves. Love it, so sexy!

  • OMG i did not know that this was their song...i love their version too

  • Old School music,4real ya'll

  • they were with me thru the bad and the realy bad. odd when i met my first girlfriend they were on the radio. in 2009 as God made it they were with me on the way to her funeral. the greatest group what evered formed. thank you very much hoboken dude

  • I absolutely love this song ! It will always be a classic.....

  • I absolutely love this song ! It will always be a classic.....

  • Beautiful, so beautiful how the Isley Brothers sang the song, and how Aaliyah had her soft touch to it.

  • Memories..

  • I'm glad the Isley Brothers made this song and I'm also glad Aaliyah did a cover. Both needs to be heard.

  • the panty dropper!!!!!

  • the panty dropper!!!!!

  • Yes, Aaliyah did a great job @ remaking this song. I do not have a problem with today's music artist remaking songs of the past. What I do HATE is those who remake the song does not give proper credit to the original artist of the song. I am not implying that Aaliyah did such a thing. But most of these artist of today's music business are so anxious to make a quick buck that they fail to appreciate those who came before them and made it possible for them to get into the business themselves.

  • this is a good sung for any time .

  • 3:38 is my favorite part (=

  • @shrbyrd4 Underrated? I don't know. Forget awards. Album aales tell you what people really think, and xx platinum albums speak pretty loud.

  • I have always loved the Isley Brothers...grew up listening to them. But I didn't realize that this was originally their song. I heard Aaliyah's version and fell in love with it. So glad she did it otherwise I may never have heard it. I think it's great when artists appreciate those that came before them. It allows younger generations to get to know real music.

  • such a smooth song! Ron has to be one of the most smoothest R&B

singers i have ever heard. Love anything by The Isley Brothers! Real

music right here! This has to be one my fav songs! but there are countless

    others.

  • "Let me know, let me kno-ow!"

Guys, please could you let us girls know what makes you feel loved?

We really want to know, and be that positive motivating force!

It would be great if you would share some insights right here.

    Thanks!

  • @SheLovesSmoothJazz Guys: Let us know that you are ours entirely. We have to know that, that we have your heart and that no other woman could ever change that. That gives us security, there is no peace without security. There are women that got looks and can even look better, but to know that we have something that she can never give you which is our love, makes us feel like "1 in a million" and "lets us know."

  • What about those who try doing that, but they still get crushed by the woman who they thought loved them. I'm not being negative about your comment, but i'm just asking a woman who i think may have a answer 2 my response. We make a woman feel that way, @ least we try, & then some guy with lies filling her head up with bs, & breakup what should be a happy home. I'm not talking bout me, i'm just saying do u have a answer 4 that?

  • @churchshoes2003 Then I guess to prevent that problem it to not fall in love with a stupid girl, because she must be pretty dumb if any guy can just come and start putting stuff in her ear, especially when she is already in love. You know a weak, easily influenced girl when you are with one.

  • @SuniDays87 i been in love once and i did let her know how i felt we were both crazy for each other.at first....but im convinced that girls like drama and man did that girl break my heart and 3 years later i still think about her,my other relationships have not worked dued to the fact the sad truth none can measure up to my ex and they all were rude as fuck, women be on games too they say they want a real relationship they get it they dont know what to..but this my shit love dis song

  • @razorsharpandonpoint When Women say men are dogs I always loos like the asshole when i say they make us dogs b/c that the only way to get their attention

  • @razorsharpandonpoint do yourself a favour pal. if she's still alive, and you have even the vaguest idea where she is. go there. make your peace. think first before saying anything. these things have a way of fucking up everything in your romantic life until its settled. youre suffering from a form of addiction, but it will pass. you will hurt like fuck again. it will pass and take the yearning with it. i bid you rest sir---shalome

  • @coatlecue man you dont even know ive tried this aint no relationship website so im not even going to write all that lmao, man truth is ill always love that girl because it was real for so i still have my moments and its not like i try not to make it work with other girls it just dont work though

  • Miss these back in the day songs!! going out to a special someone in Gainsville!! luv ya babe

  • All I got to say is that these niggaz KILLED IT GOT DAMN RONALD ISLEY CAN SING BOY!!!!! They don't make it like this no more

  • @Charlesthrower305 Would you say that again!!!!!!

  • @Charlesthrower305 - u sure got that right! Nobody like em'. then or now. They still are in my opinion. I wish they could live 4ever!

  • This song is so very smoothe and I like listening to it. I like it by The Isley's and Ayliah too. It is just a beautiful Love Song.

  • @mohlercg Right! That's what many people fail to realize about a lot of "old-school" music...they had their inspirations but they had to start from "scratch"!

  • @JtheLioness EXACTLY! If that gift of playing the guitar ever comes forth even more; I will begin to experiment and begin making my own intstrumental arrangements myself. Seeing how my father knows how to play guitar; and my mother sings.

  • @SolidRockTelevision Let it come! Keep practicing...I think it's great to learn to play an instrument!

  • Well, of course the Isley Brothers version will always and forever be the top notch. Remember that YA YOU ALL YOU GUYS OR WHATEVER JUST REMEMBER THE ORIGINALS!

  • i wish aaliyah and the isley brother could of done this song together......that would be a beautiful thing......

  • back in the day we spin this on the record player and sit back with our girl and the music would put us where we needed to be with no rap.

  • @CrzyMzSmiley I was still little in the house running around while my fam laughed, played cards and they spinned the records....dang I miss those days...

  • this is it

  • Allot of the songs today are re-makes. I believe nothing can be taken from any original. New Comers, please generate your own sound and leave the old school stuff to us Old Heads. Can we at least have dat. No disrepect to Aaliyah, but yall new artist, please get some originality to your stuff. Let's see what you can really do.

  • i thin of aaliyah did an excellent job. she expressed it from a girls point of view. ron took it from a mans point of view. it is almost like they are talking to each other

  • Hey which artist y'all like who sang "At Your Best?" The Isley brothers or Aaliyah?

Ret23867 and sjgkignmg both liked the Original.

  • @luxurious297 Original is usually always the best...I love them both though...Aaliyah's version is the version I heard the most.

  • Yall crazy Aaliyah sang the hell out of this song. Its sounded beautiful when she sang it. I love the Isley Brothers but i gotta ride with Aaliyah on this one

  • In defense of Aaliyah, her voice just hadn't matured enough to sing this.

  • @roscoegino very right she was only about 14-15 recordin this song

  • this song is special to me, hahaha... for real....

  • <3 this song

  • It's Hard Being A Number One Player. Red Hot Lover Tone!!!!!!!

  • I think Chris J wrote this, and u r right when I bought this album in the 70's this was my favorite song

  • Beautiful. A wonderful love song. Keep singing Isleys

  • Love the Isleys!!!!

  • Luv it &Aaliyah

  • damn didnt even know isley were the originators of this song.. both versions r good, because this is a good song period!!

  • Aaliyah did a great job because she didn't try to take over the song like most do. Makes you appreciate the song the way it should be. Thank you Aaliyah and the Isleys

  • @aja1108 Love this statement aja1108. Not to mention, Ron's voice is soft, but manly aslo.....aint no girly man action goin on with this.

  • aaliyahcomeback......smoother than butter...nice....but how about smoother than melting ice......i likes....i likes.....just sit back, spark one up and relax.....take care...

  • Red Hot Lover Tone Used This.

  • Red Hot Lover Tone - #1 Player

    It's Hard Being A #1 Player.

  • This is really good...it's makes me cry...

  • Absolutely, ret23867!

  • yeah it does kinda sound better comin from a mans point of view bt aaliyah still did da damn thang on her version

  • @assyrian2NV

    thumbs down for that comment

  • I like it..but sorry Aaliyah's version is so much better and meaningful from her story...

  • @assyrian2NV You don't know any thing about music. propa to Aaliyah.

  • Ahhhhhh....this song makes me weak!! Soooooo beautiful!!

    Hugs from Philly....

  • Isley brothers=five decades of soul, black rock, funk, r&b, quiet storm giants, hip-hop, baby makin', lovin', memories, inspiration, ridin' musik, UNITY, LOVE, PEACE, the perfect high music, etc.. The best thing to come from OHIO!!!
