@paulagloria I never disregarded your interest i just merely stated mine. And yes this planet does need change and religion is one of them a blind man can see that, but expecting a monk to change the world or a group of them is like hoping for Santa to come down your chimney. Nonetheless when it comes down to it war creates peace. By the way stop trying to start debates on youtube over a comment section its uncanny.
@themonkwithin should I preach a fuck off or just shout it or what? To tell you the truth I really want to know just how much you know vs what you think you know....aren't you curious about if I know anything or not? After all this was done in 2007...
@paulagloria Am i curious if you know anything or not? honestly no, reason being is well because at the end of the day we are both 2 guys with two different point of views weather that be a good thing or bad thing.
@themonkwithin oh surely you do believe there is more to know and what better why to learn more than to engage with thsoe who believe in different things or look at it a different way....that is how you learn by trying something new, including entertaining a new idea...you don't have to accept it just consider it
pashupatastra is a divine weapon of lord shiva which is unbeatable by any one in this universe..it is a trident which once released will destory the target at any cost.
it even has the capacity ti anhilate the entire universe since lord shiva is the destryer and he destorys the whole universe at the time of mahapralay (end of time ) and the universe is recreated and the cycle goes on

Ms PaulaGloria, I am so pleased to note that you have such a soft voice that reflects your inner peace and understanding of Indian literature and culture, and I find it very interesting to point out that I have never seen any Indian having such softness in their voice as you do, and I realized that you realized the beauty of the Indian culture and embrace it with all your heart.
Pasupata Astram is the ultimate weapon from Lord Shiva (Lord of cattle (pasunam patih)) . There is no weapon above this. I really dont know whats the difference between Brahmastra and Pasupata Astra.
Astra (something like missile)
Back in my home city Vijayawada, we still use word "pasuvulu" meaning ..animals (cow, goats ..farm animals..)
Brahmastra is more powerful than any known weapon. Pasupatastra does not kill but only disables the enemy, therefore it is more of an insulting weapon than anything else. Brahmastra has two uses: 1. To cleanse the living worlds off of evil presence and 2. To destroy all the worlds on which evil has grown out of control.
No, it means pash = animals (all life forms because for Shiva, human beings are also animals since he had his son's head replaced with one of an animal) pat = pati = Lord, husband and astra = weapon.
So, it's basically, the weapon of the lord of all beings (if you want another version, all animals since they may be defined 'pashu').
soon after I made this my father sent me his x-rays for surgery on his spine degeneration I believe caused as a side effect of the cancer (so called) medicine. It has now been up several years and despite grueling chemo he is still with us. hummmm something about the power of the swastika and me resisting "Paula, it is a marketing nightmare!"
ahhhh that is called "Why Power?" an out of print book I published a small number of because I was so terrified to lose the rare copy that someone passed to me. It was originally called "The Power of Tantra" sort of by Dr. Narayandutta Shrimali...I was shy of the name "tantra" in those days, at least the misunderstandings
what is interesting about looking at this after almost three years since I put it up is that I no longer need reading glasses so to see me using them like at 26:00 is a trip!
this runs under "fair use laws" BECAUSE it is commentary. I am not trying to take sales but introduce my Manhattan audience to the Mahabharata....if you already know it you should appreciate buying it, no?
I am happy to hear that you are introducing the epic to your Manhattan audience.
I also understand your usage of commentary to post it under "Fair use Laws". However, I observed that you are repeating the translations appearing on the screen.
And as far as the question of buying goes, I had purchased them before when I was in India. They are no longer with me.
It ran for 1 year before it finally concluded and like I said before Mahabharat was shown in the early 90's....They did a Re-run of it again at the begining of this decade.....!!!!
My Favourite part of Mahabharat is when Lord Krishna recites the Geeta to Arjun.....!!!!
God himself explaining about the true meaning of life and why we exist on this planet...
It's beautiful...no other book on this planet holds more wisdom in it than the Geeta..I relate to the spiritual aspect of it's teachings....The soul is perpetual....it never dies...the body is perishable destructible and subject to process of aging....and when it dies the soul leaves the body and enters a new one....!!!!
there are many levels to the Gita.....it is so beautiful it is like your heart cracks open with a combination of the greatest sorrow and joy...amazing
yet since there are layers to it consider that there may not be a division to the mind and body....in that case we have a whole other way of reflecting on the wisdom from the Lord's mouth
I'm from the Capital New Delhi....but now live in Canada....Yea the vastness of this great epic completely mesmerizes me....I still remember way back in the 90's when they first started showing this great epic....everyone in India would be glued to their TV screens every Sunday morning.....Sharp 9 AM.....!!!!
Dear Paula...I love the fact that you know so much about Mahabharat...but I wish everyone would call it Mahabharat...instead of calling it Mahabharata....!!!!
By The way the symbol of Swastik is not 1000 years old...it's older than that....it has existed ever since our great religion first started and that was way back in time.....almost million years ago....!!!!
I only know what I know because when I pay attention to the Mahabharat it humbles me and inspires me at the same time....it introduces ideas especially responsibility to others....I have learned a lot since I did this vid and am sure will learn more long after I finish writing to you!
the theosophical society in madras has a statue of Madame Blavatsky with a swastika placed this way....I was just experimenting with placing it opposite of the way Hitler did and in line with American Indians...the largest collections of swastikas in the world was found in an Indian civilization near Columbus Ohio and I hear you can see some at the natural history museum in chicago...which I hope to some day
i won't listen to your racist sexist propaganda. go read your bible. why do we need such a disgusting image of the "love of god" as jesus dying a disgusting excruciating tortured death, suffocating on his own stale breath, otherwise known as CRUCIFIXION the christian sign of god's love. you're really CRACKED cuz youthink you went to india to discover how JEEEEEsus "did the healings" and how the "divine mother" is related to war but you can't see the nose on your own face.
I absolutely love the Mahabharata! I never really got the deal with Krishna though...I always felt like his favoritism of the Pandavas was unfair, leading to a kind of dishonorable victory....
There is too much "sympathy for the devil" in this world. Why are you worried by "dishonorable victory" of Pandavas? Kauravas deserved what they got, i.e. defeat! It was Duryhodhan who wanted war.
Duryodhanan may have wanted war, but what about everyone else? Kripa, Bhismha, Ashwatthama? THey didn't want it, yet look what happened to them. The way Arjuna defeated Karna was by the fact that Karna's cairrage got caught, and Arjuna, in accordance with Krishna, shot Karna, rather than beating him honorably. Drona was defeated based on a lie that his son, Ashwattama, had died. See where I'm going with this? Bloodshed is bloodshed, no matter how you slice it.
Interesting. The Pandavas embody higher ideals while Duryodhan embodies jealousy, dishonesty, etc. The Pandavas were passive and suffered greatly from the aggressive Kauravas. Imagine the torture of a decade of exile.
What Sri Krishna tells us is that don't think being good alone is enough- when all other options are exhausted you have to fight for what is good.
Bloodshed is bloodshed, but sometimes it's necessary to preserve righteousness. We must stop the Hitlers. However you can.
the hindu Swastika is not supposed to be at an angle like that. The Nazi "swastik" was purposely turned to that 45 degree angle representing the complete opposite of the hindu swastik. do some research on it :)
You idiots That sign was sign Hindu religion for good luck over 1000s of years before Hitler's bitch ass copied it and made it his own sign of terror so that sign is from Hindu religion
like I say I;m not a hindu...I'm me and I surround myself with what brings me joy and I experiment with the energies...I take advice of the various bodies of knowledge but eventually I decide for myself
that is not vishnu, thats lord indra, who is also his father. in the moder world bad people will always try to destroy the great noble people with lies. no lies in da mahabhrat, thats not what i'm saying.
The divine weapons are most powerful weapons. The closet this age has produced is a nuclear weapon. But the greatest weapons are "BhramaAstra" (Brahma's Weapon), PashupatiAstra (Shiva Weapon), RamBaan (Rama's Weapon) these weapons can destroy the whole cosmos/creation. The lesser powerful ones are Agni Astra ( Fire as weapon), Vaayu Astra (Wind as weapon), Water as weapon, Earth element as weapon etc.
These weapons can be obtained by power of mantras. They can be fired and recalled.
i agree it was a good interpretation however it was not the best interpretation because you keep saying the good guys are not completely good and the bad guys completely bad, in the case of the Mahabharata which means the great war between the decendents of King Bharata, it is more about ones dhrama and how they follow that dharma.
no I've read your comments elsewhere....you have capacity. JUst a sincere desire to understand timeless knowledge. we are not the first ones to live in times of corruption and endless wars...there is a promise to human life which is revealed to who sincerely want to know
yea i'll have to study this..i'm catching up on all your videos, hence the comments...i've known about fucked up things for awhile (war, hate etc..) i've also known about nico..hes cool..as are you madam...
I'm glad you landed on this vid...I have an India audience too which I consider a great honor and with their kind attention we can handle the powerful weapons that most Americans through a miserable media, have no idea exist
Although the pashupatastra was aquired by arjun, it was never used in war. Arjun explains that he wants history to know the war was won on his might, not divine weapons. The only other appearance of this weapon is when Bheeshma invokes it when battling his teacher, Parashurama. Even Parashurama, who is an avatar of Vishnu and immortal, did not know a counter of this weapon.
a question was posed about the meaning of "pashupatastra" which is the first divine weapon arjun aquires. this weapon is a combination of 3 hindi words. pashu which means animal, pati meaning lord or husband, and astra which means weapon. pashu pati astra or pashupatastra means weapon of the king of animals, namely shiva.
WOW! thank you for this information...would you like to be a guest on my show? Have you seen my vid called "The Nobility of War" using the same format
You have made an amazing compilation, If permitted can I visit a School that teachces religion rather than this useless education which is ultimately a flawed one.
Being an Indian I have so much faith in Mahabharatha and Lord Krishna that he actually appeared in my dreams so often to guide through this life, I want to contact like minded people so that I can help establish the Krishna Society all over the world
Hi Somya. Please do share any informaion about Lord Krishna with me as I pray him allways.I must say u r very lucky and blessed to see him in dreams. What else is needed for the soul. I with you blessfull 'Krishna Astami'. Cheers, Maruti
Arent we currently in the Dwapara Yuga? I have heard gurus such as Srila Prabupadh say that we are still in the Kali Yuga.
I watched a video about the grand cycle, so that I could learn more about this cycle, and they discuss it as if we are in Dwapara Yuga. The video is called "The Great Year" and is available on Google Video.
What do the Vedic scriptures believe about the notion of us living in a binary star system?
Kali was not even able to put leg on the Earth till Lord krishna was alive. The first Trace of Kali ( Not to be confused with Kali Maa ) descending on earth was when Parikshit ( grandson of Arjun and son of Abhimanyu and Uttara ) was Ruling. Even when Parikshit was ruling Kali was not able to come down properly... But Once Parikshit was lured towards really glittering pure gold, and Kali decided to get in that gold
A Crown was made out of that gold, During the crowning ceremony, due to the incompetence of controlling himself, Kali was able to sit on the head of parikshit, and she ruled the world thereafter.
Lord Brahma according to Hinduism is Creator of the Universe. Brahmastra was used by some warriors previously. Let me know if you want to know more ?? If it interests you.
yes I want to know more about brahmastra. Why did Brahma create it.. what did he create it for? and is it available today? Is a nuclear weapon a brahmastra?
Of all the Trinity Lord Shiva has "Trishul", Lord Vishnu has "Sudarshan" and Lord Brahma has "Brahmastra", since all the three weapons are controlled by Mantras anyone can invoke the weapon. But only a few were able to control them. I guess according to hinduism Brahmastra is still available today. Some persons possessing the power to invoke it are Son of Dronacharya - Ashwathama, Vishnu Avatar - Parshuram, and Rudra Avatar - Hanuman.
are you Indian? Do you see evidence of these sciences in the west? I see evidence of misuse in our (US) White House. DO you have any comments on the suffering caused by having the mantras but not the ability to control them? Fascinating topic no?
The Nuclear weapon can be equated with Brahmastra, but Brahmastra is a weapon controlled with mind. So its a weapon which can just kill only a small insect to entire world. Also brahmastra wont hurt you if you are fighting a war on the side of the religion but in that case you have to respect it. Since it can be controlled by mind, you can select the intensity of destruction, path of the weapon etc... A systematic text is available on Brahmastra in Vedas. Let me know if u want more info.
I think it is simpler than that, provided you can vibrate at a subtle level. Have you seen any of my stuff on the Ramtha School of Enlightenment? Based on my attendance at that school I went to India to study the five elements, the Divine Mother (shakti) under a manifesting master.
If you happen to visit any pushkar you wonder to see the number of Naga Sadhus who otherwise are hard to find. From outside they may look like smokers/ sura panas / wear no clothes which we judge as bad and sometimes hate to talk to them (good for them!).
When Lord Krishna unveils his divine form in Kuru Rajsabha only Bheeshma Pithamah, Vidur are able to see divine light which makes me think about the rest of other guys. I conclude only a few had intelligence/ follow dharma back then.
do you live in Pushkar? I visited many times. I believe you are talking about the Avaduts. Have you been to Shirdi? what a huge saint that man was who died in 1918
By god's grace I had been to almost every place in India including Amarnath and saw the magnificient shiva linga. Pushkar is synonym to kumbh mela and varies from one river to another. I had a chance to visit vemulavada in AP/ Karnataka border where it is believed that avadhuts request biksha and all houses there are decorated with small footprints for god to follow.
do you know Pilot baba? I'd like to have him do a samadi here in the states. we need this kind of inspiration. thanks for all your info. how did you find my vid?
These divine weapons (or "Divya Astras") are not available for use in the current times. These weapons can only be summoned and controlled using special "secret codes", or "mantras", which have been lost. Furthermore, using these weapons requires exceptional focus and mental power, none of which is available in Kala Yuga (essentially this yuga marks the beginning of the deterioration of the universe, where human intelligence is decaying)
I love the ninth mandala (the soma mandala) but the tenth of the Rig is great too. I just did a show where I read the ninth on camera, still have to post it...which are your favorites?
proof of the pudding is in the eating. Technically no one outside the top two castes can even read the Vedas. Maharishi Mahesh Yogi's system first initiated me. From there I went to other masters who gave me deeper and deeper keys to the promise ofpeace that the Vedas offers. Thanks for your passion though!
Ye you're right, but its good that you're taking an interest in hindu culture since most americans seem to be very ignorant and think that it's all about worshipping 'stone elephants' which is what someone in school said to me about a year ago.
i am a punjabi-saraswat brahman so im gonna try and learn sanskrit sometime and then read the vedas myself.

Drona was defeated based on a lie that his son, Ashwattama, had died. See where I'm going with this? Bloodshed is bloodshed, no matter how you slice it.
aiyer777 3 years ago
Interesting. The Pandavas embody higher ideals while Duryodhan embodies jealousy, dishonesty, etc. The Pandavas were passive and suffered greatly from the aggressive Kauravas. Imagine the torture of a decade of exile.
What Sri Krishna tells us is that don't think being good alone is enough- when all other options are exhausted you have to fight for what is good.
Bloodshed is bloodshed, but sometimes it's necessary to preserve righteousness. We must stop the Hitlers. However you can.

great! while you are here you can testify that the Hindu swastika is directed like Hitler had it (maybe not an angle )
paulagloria 3 years ago
the hindu Swastika is not supposed to be at an angle like that. The Nazi "swastik" was purposely turned to that 45 degree angle representing the complete opposite of the hindu swastik. do some research on it :)
God Bless.

They can be fired and recalled.

very interesting...it is important for peace to understand weapons

another vital point is, that mans innate nature blinds him so much that even when God himself is in front, they cannot be recognised.

i agree it was a good interpretation however it was not the best interpretation because you keep saying the good guys are not completely good and the bad guys completely bad, in the case of the Mahabharata which means the great war between the decendents of King Bharata, it is more about ones dhrama and how they follow that dharma.
ankurp23 4 years ago
that was my point the "bad" guys had a part a dharma to follow....as did Judas in betraying Jesus
paulagloria 4 years ago
The Mahabharata shows everything which is happening in todays society.

true thx for reminding me of the importance of holding noble models in front of us
paulagloria 4 years ago
1) Arjun is actually meditating and its not same as penance
2) First God that appears is "Indra" and not "Vishnu". As Karan was the son of "Sun", Arjun was the son of "Indra-The king of demi gods"
3)"Krishna" is reincarnation of "Vishnu" who is already supporting Arjun, so arjun was not meditating for Vishnu.

3) Krishna is "incarnation" not reincarnation.. of Vishnu.

no I've read your comments elsewhere....you have capacity.

I'm glad you landed on this vid...I have an India audience too which I consider a great honor and with their kind attention we can handle the powerful weapons that most Americans through a miserable media, have no idea exist
paulagloria 4 years ago
Although the pashupatastra was aquired by arjun, it was never used in war. Arjun explains that he wants history to know the war was won on his might, not divine weapons. The only other appearance of this weapon is when Bheeshma invokes it when battling his teacher, Parashurama. Even Parashurama, who is an avatar of Vishnu and immortal, did not know a counter of this weapon.
maverick23may 4 years ago
I must commend you on your excellent interpretation of the epic. I would watch with interest future commentary on the same theme.
When i read or watch the Mahabharat today i am just as awestruck by the enormity and depth of its message as i was the first time i encountered it.
maverick23may 4 years ago
I agree!
paulagloria 4 years ago
a question was posed about the meaning of "pashupatastra" which is the first divine weapon arjun aquires. this weapon is a combination of 3 hindi words. pashu which means animal, pati meaning lord or husband, and astra which means weapon. pashu pati astra or pashupatastra means weapon of the king of animals, namely shiva.
maverick23may 4 years ago

You have made an amazing compilation, If permitted can I visit a School that teachces religion rather than this useless education which is ultimately a flawed one.
Being an Indian I have so much faith in Mahabharatha and Lord Krishna that he actually appeared in my dreams so often to guide through this life, I want to contact like minded people so that I can help establish the Krishna Society all over the world
Thank you

Arent we currently in the Dwapara Yuga? I have heard gurus such as Srila Prabupadh say that we are still in the Kali Yuga.
I watched a video about the grand cycle, so that I could learn more about this cycle, and they discuss it as if we are in Dwapara Yuga. The video is called "The Great Year" and is available on Google Video.
What do the Vedic scriptures believe about the notion of us living in a binary star system?
MyStrangeMind 5 years ago
We are in Kali Yuga...we are only 500 thousAand years inot it so we have a long way to go yet!
laleeta2000 5 years ago
Dwapar Yug ended and Kali Yug began when Dropadhi blew the conch during the mahaBharat.
laleeta2000 5 years ago
Kali was not even able to put leg on the Earth till Lord krishna was alive. The first Trace of Kali ( Not to be confused with Kali Maa ) descending on earth was when Parikshit ( grandson of Arjun and son of Abhimanyu and Uttara ) was Ruling. Even when Parikshit was ruling Kali was not able to come down properly... But Once Parikshit was lured towards really glittering pure gold, and Kali decided to get in that gold
samseth 4 years ago
A Crown was made out of that gold, During the crowning ceremony, due to the incompetence of controlling himself, Kali was able to sit on the head of parikshit, and she ruled the world thereafter.
Thanks
Sam

Looks like good interpretation

We are not in Dwapara Yuga, but in Kali Yuga.
This is the last of the Yugas. I have not heard of the binary star system.. I will check and get back.
To Gloria: I found your video while searching for "divine weapons". I was intrigued by the Brahmastra and wanted to find out more.
godzillahercules123 5 years ago
Brahmastra is a Divine weapon of Lord Brahma.
Lord Brahma according to Hinduism is Creator of the Universe. Brahmastra was used by some warriors previously. Let me know if you want to know more ?? If it interests you.
Thanks
Sam
samseth 4 years ago
yes I want to know more about brahmastra. Why did Brahma create it.. what did he create it for? and is it available today? Is a nuclear weapon a brahmastra?
godzillahercules123 4 years ago
Of all the Trinity Lord Shiva has "Trishul", Lord Vishnu has "Sudarshan" and Lord Brahma has "Brahmastra", since all the three weapons are controlled by Mantras anyone can invoke the weapon. But only a few were able to control them. I guess according to hinduism Brahmastra is still available today. Some persons possessing the power to invoke it are Son of Dronacharya - Ashwathama, Vishnu Avatar - Parshuram, and Rudra Avatar - Hanuman.
samseth 4 years ago
are you Indian? Do you see evidence of these sciences in the west? I see evidence of misuse in our (US) White House. DO you have any comments on the suffering caused by having the mantras but not the ability to control them? Fascinating topic no?
paulagloria 4 years ago
The Nuclear weapon can be equated with Brahmastra, but Brahmastra is a weapon controlled with mind. So its a weapon which can just kill only a small insect to entire world. Also brahmastra wont hurt you if you are fighting a war on the side of the religion but in that case you have to respect it. Since it can be controlled by mind, you can select the intensity of destruction, path of the weapon etc... A systematic text is available on Brahmastra in Vedas. Let me know if u want more info.
samseth 4 years ago

I conclude only a few had intelligence/ follow dharma back then.
praghav 5 years ago
do you live in Pushkar? I visited many times. I believe you are talking about the Avaduts. Have you been to Shirdi? what a huge saint that man was who died in 1918
paulagloria 5 years ago
By god's grace I had been to almost every place in India including Amarnath and saw the magnificient shiva linga. Pushkar is synonym to kumbh mela and varies from one river to another. I had a chance to visit vemulavada in AP/ Karnataka border where it is believed that avadhuts request biksha and all houses there are decorated with small footprints for god to follow.
praghav 5 years ago
do you know Pilot baba? I'd like to have him do a samadi here in the states. we need this kind of inspiration. thanks for all your info. how did you find my vid?
paulagloria 5 years ago
These divine weapons (or "Divya Astras") are not available for use in the current times. These weapons can only be summoned and controlled using special "secret codes", or "mantras", which have been lost. Furthermore, using these weapons requires exceptional focus and mental power, none of which is available in Kala Yuga (essentially this yuga marks the beginning of the deterioration of the universe, where human intelligence is decaying)

proof of the pudding is in the eating. Technically no one outside the top two castes can even read the Vedas. Maharishi Mahesh Yogi's system first initiated me. From there I went to other masters who gave me deeper and deeper keys to the promise ofpeace that the Vedas offers. Thanks for your passion though!
paulagloria 5 years ago
Ye you're right, but its good that you're taking an interest in hindu culture since most americans seem to be very ignorant and think that it's all about worshipping 'stone elephants' which is what someone in school said to me about a year ago.
i am a punjabi-saraswat brahman so im gonna try and learn sanskrit sometime and then read the vedas myself.
