  • i love my music teacher that he shows me this compositon it is so unnormal but interesting

  • I had to check this out after hearing Golem's cover of the piece.. I think they did awesome but this here is amazing too. Great job to Mr. Conductor and the musicians

  • This reminds me very much of H.P. Love Crafts short story Ancestors, It plays in one of the more ominous scenes.

  • *orgasms*

haha to make this song even better, the conductor is hot.

Beautiful and artistically moving...even the choreography...yet at times your like "wtf" but its a good kind of wtf

    <3 <3 <3 <3

  • that was way too awesome

  • wow

  • ٠•●♥ Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄Ʒ ♥●•٠· Very nice, 5 stars ★★★★★

  • my god ... look at all the time changes! Not much chance for a conductor to get caught up in reveries with this. I am no conductor, but it appears Mr. Mauffray was excellently prepared and did a wonderful job.

  • You are so young. Congratulations.

  • Wow... Very nice.

  • I live close to the house where this ballet was composed and played for the first time, in Meudon, France :D

  • Bravo! Bravo!

  • C'mon the audience could've clapped harder than that! LOL. I'd shoot straight up out of my seat. I love this piece. Very well done.

  • i find it utterly horrifying and yet at the same time distinctly beautiful

  • 00:50 sounds like a music theme of Zelda : Majora's Mask on N64 O_O

  • @Alexthekiller10 yea Stravinsky gets ripped off right and left ... or shall we say "hommage", its just hommage...

  • sounds cool! and by the way, i saw something really good. listen to both parts of this this guy, this music is flawless. search for "freakollo" in the search tab.

  • Brilliant interpretation. Keep it up.

  • This, in my opinion, is the best piece of music ever written. Bravo!

The last time I enjoyed this piece as much was Salonen with the LA Phil at the Disney concert hall.

I wish I could have been in attendance to enjoy this in it's entirety.

  • Very good Maestro. I like this piece very much. In the age of 13 (41 years ago) I'v started my posession for classical music because of an excellent music teacher at school (as you can see, my english teacher wasn't very successful). He conducted "Firebird" by Stravinsky with the Nürnberger Symphoniker. For many years I wanted to become a conducter too. But I only became a very musically bookkeeper :-)

    Best wishes from Germany.

At the present time I hear a lot of Shostakovich.

  • @achim56nrw

    Vielen Dank!

  • @achim56nrw achim, du bist cool.

  • You're very good! I see and admire the conductor ... you're phenomenal and continues to make me dream thanks!

  • Paul, that was fabulous. One of my favourite pieces. I really liked your interpretation.

  • Amazing! Really wonderful... Congratulations!

  • The L.A. Philharmonic version was less barbaric to me. The London Philharmonic's version was very barbaric. I mean barbaric in a good way, ;).

  • such a beatifull piece.. and well done too

  • The conductor is amazing to look at, as the orchestra is amazing (terrifying!) to listen to ;P Begging everyone's pardon, I felt I needed to say that.

  • I love your conducting style, but i think it's slightly hampered by you very long baton...

  • @TheKevinV08

yes, i agree, and since then i have switched to a smaller baton :-)

  • Perfect .

  • Uma performance magnífica, digna de um grande regente,um jovem com futuro .

  • Uma performance magnífica, digna de um grande regente,um jovem com futuro esse maestro.

  • i enjoyed the facial expressions of the conductor :) altogether amazingly well done! hats off to such a young conductor!

  • i enjoyed the facial expressions of the conductor :) altogether amazingly well done! hats off to such a young conductor!

  • OMFG!! THE SCORE IS HELL!!!

    TRUST ME!!

I'm 19 and i play violin forr lot of years not and it's really tuffffff to play this song...especially the RHYTHM!!! uugh!! VERY WELL THOUGH!! The conductor is realy good!! (and young??!?!!! )

  • Amazing, do you guys know that this piece is hailed as the roots of the Metal genre of music by some people?

  • Thumbs up mate =)

  • Stravinsky no se corta!!!!!!

    igual muy bueno...

    4 estrellas, por cortarlo...

  • Rocks harder than Sabbath.

  • generally, i would have done this a little bit faster, but it's good ! =) I love Salonen's performance too.

  • Maestro, you are a really great conductor !! Lenny Bernstein would be on your feet

  • mmm first pitch

  • Me encantó!!! Felicitaciones, saludos desde Buenos Aires, Argentina. Tamara.

  • The score is hell...

  • excellent conducting through stravinsky's difficult rhythmic style...bravo

  • the only bad part is that the beginning of Augurs/Harbingers is cut out. beyond that BRAVO!!!

  • must be very hard and difficult for a conductor to conduct THIS ballet music...

  • Bravo!!!

  • listen to the Salonen - LA Phill for a more barbaric interpretation of the piece

but this is a good attempt and i like his conducting technique

  • i agree that i could have been more barbaric, and i am an admirer of the salonen performance. when i conducted this again in 2008, i was much more brutal with the ending. i'll try to get that performance posted soon.

  • It's good. Though I prefer the climaxes of the intro to part 1 and augurs as a gradual accelerandos.

Many modern conductors since the post-war generation have a fixed notion of the Rite as a rigid and mechanical work, occluding any chance for nuances or rubato.

  • Salonen is the king of this piece! I love his rendition the most.

  • I believe it was this piece that my instructor said counting this is like writing the blueprints for a futuristic space shuttle. HAAAARD!

  • *beginning

  • love the bassoon solo at the beginnig ;)

  • Excellent maestro!

  • Perfect!

  • Wow, Mr. Mauffrey, outstanding performance and conducting. I love this work, in fact conducted (fair attemp)the finale for school ear training class at Berklee. I was fortunate to be able to find many performances by Berlin, Vienna, London, Chicago, LA, and many others, and I have to say your work here is wonderful. Bravo!

  • mate, well done on keeping it together at the end

  • Beautfull artistic presence. Bravo! The soudns is good, the rallentandos are together, very well conductor you are. Congratulations!
