  • This used to come on during my afternoon naps on the hardcushioned setees. Love to have it on dvd if it wer made vailable

  • They should so consider in to bringing this back on to our screens

  • Ææęœłż

  • R.I.P Take The High Road

    April 1980- 27th April 2003

  • Most of the episodes are available to watch on STV's YT pages. I've started with the original from feb 1980 and am up to about October of that year.

  • It would be good if they brought Take the High Road out on DVD.

  • @Inverdarroch88 I actually found an STV dvd with the first 6 episodes on it - in the Soldier's Leap giftshop in Killiecranki!

  • @Inverdarroch88 it's on sale in HMV - £9.99 for the first 6 episodes. If any subsequent DVD releases are planned wonder if they managed to find the missing 20 episodes?

  • this soap was aired in japan. i wonder if it was dubbed or subtitled ?

  • Have you got the closing theme in full?

  • I agree Solidhead,,although i lived there 38 years of my life been Texas for 9 years and nothing compared to SCOTLAND!!!

  • ive lived here in scotland my whole life and i never tire of its beauty

  • LOL. Was anyone there in the Glasgow Highland games 2008 when Colin Grant-adams sang this? I was.

  • I didn't know this tune had words!

  • I know a Colin Grant :O

    I'm related to him.

  • How I'd love to live in Scotland over the dirt-barren Texas, U.S.A. I love living in the U.S., don't get me wrong, but the scenery is just one heck of a lot better.

  • @solidhead3 I am from Scotland it's beautiful

  • Lovely memories

  • Sorry to be ignorant but where does/did this show come from? It looks and sounds like Scotland but possibly Ireland or Wales?

  • Scotland. It was made by Scottish Television.

  • bloody loved take the high road.far better than emmerdale crap.lets have it on tele again please.

  • @midslad4fun You can get High Road on the STV Player if it is of interest to you.

  • Is the main instrument here called the Harmonium?

  • I believe it's the fiddle.

  • This has to rate as the longest title sequence of all time.

If anyone fancies watching these shows again, probably better think twice as the makers probably wiped a lot of the original tapes ala crossroads :(

  • This isn't an actual title sequence video, it's just a slideshow I made with the full length version of the theme tune.

  • Take the High Road tapes were not wiped because the 1980s episodes were repeated on Sky Soap a few years ago.

  • Thats nice to know. A lot of stuff was still being wiped even in the 90s, like tony hart shows (poor morph), rentaghost and all of the noel gay TV productions. Ah well!

  • The best version of this was the 1987 one. Can someone upload it please?

  • sorry, just realised inverdarroch has already provided this info.

  • I would like STV to repeat old episodes of Take the High Road. If they brought it back it probably change it like the did with Crossroads.

  • showing again on a free to view channel on sky called life one, channel no.197,enjoy.

  • high road better than most of the soaps on tv

  • I Loved this Soap when it was on.

    Quite Adictive and always Great.

  • when will it be back on STV ON ITV1

  • I doubt they'll ever show it on STV again. They stopped doing repeats in the middle of the night when all those quiz shows started, and let's face it that's the only time they would have shown High Road, you know what they're like.

  • thanks for your help

  • it back on a Sky Channel!!!! right now!

some where! if you look on Youtube someone posted the ad!

  • @davidn87 You know high road is on the STV Player now?

  • @mcvieandrew Saw your comment and thought you might like to know there are episodes available on the STV player going back to 1980

  • Well done-never heard the full version of the theme tune. I really enjoyed it!

  • You are wrong grahamm69 : Lough Neagh has an area of 151 square miles - and it is in the United Kingdom! Loch Lomond has a surface area of 27.25 square miles and Loch Ness is the 2nd largest Scottish loch with a surface area 21.8 sq miles, but due to its great depth is the largest by volume i.e. it IS the biggest body of water. The deepest is Loch Morar.

  • Great, I have Virgin...

  • Is that a Sky channel?

  • WILL IT BE BACK ON STV ON CHANNEL 3

  • Beautifal... I'm crying with admiration, nice scenary too. ^^;

  • Thank you.

  • i love silly wizard

  • Thanks for the link.

  • do you know where to get that?

  • Realy good well done love the end credits

  • When did Runrig do Take The High Road?

  • its called loch lomond

  • that's just the middle part, the main song here is Take The High Road by Silly Wizard. And "Loch Lomond" isn't a Runrig song anyway, it's been around for longer than they have.

  • i know that! my uncle is iain bayne!

  • Are there any words do the tune?

  • Not as far as I know.

  • Wonderful. Thanks for this.

  • Have never heard the full length theme tune. Very good.
